A haven for sharing, discussing, and listening to blackgaze; a niche music subgenre which mixes the elements of frigid post-black metal and warm shoegaze tones.
Blackgaze was brought to light by bands associated with the French musician, Neige (Alcest, Amesoeurs, Les Discrets, Old Silver Key). He was influenced by atmospheric black metal such as Ulver, Burzum and Summoning, as well as non-metal genres like post-punk and neoclassical darkwave.
The blackgaze sound is a mixture of black metal aesthetics with more dreamy and mellow textures. Primary characteristics of the genre include tremolo picking, blast beats, and ethereal walls of sound.

Hey! I'm Uygar (Ygr). I'm a 16 years old musician from Turkey and I just released my first full length album called "Göğün Bittiği Yer" (Where The Sky Ends in English). I'd be very happy if you guys listen to it and tell me what you think! (It'll be available on Spotify very soon) Here are the links:
Since Amesoeurs disbanded in 2009, these have become super rare. I believe that Northern silence released some more copies a few years ago, they released about 200, & they went really quickly. I looked everywhere for these, I saw Amesoeurs’ S/T being sold for £300 💀 Like damn
Hoping it’s alright to post this.
My band LYSBAERER just released our first album a few weeks ago, and it’s somewhat in a space between Atmospheric Post-Black and Blackgaze, with a very DSBM style vocals.
Hope some of you like it!
I've been trying to get my alt-friend into metal music. She's mostly into deftones, superheaven and stuff. And thought that some funeral doom or goregrind wouldn't be the best first step (lol)
So hmu with some bands that prioritizes clean singing over screaming (only ocasional). I've showed her Oathbreaker, Sylvaine, Amesoeours and Alcest and she loved it.
Thanks!
I want to hear more Alcest songs with screamed vocals. Neige has really good screams.

was looking for this on youtube, nothing came up.
been a bit obsessed with this song. its so fucking beautiful and that scream towards the end is just awesome...
Basically since the beginning of the genre bands like Alcest and Amesoeours stated their influence not only from post-rock/shoegaze but also from post-punk acts.
Besides those Neige projects, An Autumn For Crippled Children and Germ. Which bands embrace those post-punk elements?
