The original alternate history subreddit

A subreddit devoted to alternate history, a genre of speculative fiction that deals with history and how it could have gone differently, but not just that! Feel free to post any speculative fiction stuff, off-topic posts, art, whatever.

Rules:

  1. Work must be alternate history. All works must be partially or entirely fictional with a basis in real-world history. However, fantasy and other paranormal or magical content is prohibited, except when part of a properly labelled ASB scenario.

  2. All content must be original. Do not use another person’s work, and especially do not claim it as your own. Crossposting from other subreddits with a similar purpose (such as r/ImaginaryMaps or r/Vexillology) is allowed, so long as the post abides by our rules.

  3. Use flair wisely. A post that is not flaired correctly upon or shortly after submission is liable for removal by the moderators.

  4. Low-effort submissions will be removed by the mods. The content considered low-effort includes maps made solely in “map-painting” programs like MapChart and simple Google service edits (like Maps or Earth) without a fairly detailed scenario, and AI generated content. Also, low-quality submissions (i.e. those w/ high pixelation or compression) are liable to be removed. Don't post GIFs of still images. Usage of Imgur or the native Reddit client for image uploads is preferred.

  5. No glorification of authoritarianism or hate speech of any kind. This rule also extends to historical revisionism and genocide/mass killing denialism.

  6. No bad faith posts or comments, and no current politics. The creation of posts or comments which are designed for the sole purpose of baiting users into a fight, political mudslinging, or bad faith discussion is banned. This is in regard to questions about scenarios and comments, rather than full post scenarios that, by their nature, can unavoidably lead into certain topics that might get heated. To avoid heated discussions, anything political within the last ten years (Since 2014) is considered to be off-limits.

  7. Image posts must have context. Upon submission of image posts, please add at least a paragraph explaining the content being shown. Text prompts cannot be limited to the title and must have additional information in the body.

  8. No shitposts or memes. Shitposts (low effort scenarios meant more for memetic value than for actual discussion), and memes are not allowed to be posted on this subreddit, please redirect your posts to the appropriate subreddits. Repeated violations will result in a permanent ban.

  9. No "What-If" Questions outside of the What-If Wednesday Megathread. No non-scenario "What if" questions or posts that ask a question without much input from the original poster outside of the megathread or as a separate post (If you want to make a separate post, please direct yourself to more appropriate subreddits). If posting within the megathread, it is recommended to put a paragraph or preferably more of your own thoughts on how the scenario would play out.

  10. No ASB Posts outside of Sunday. ASB Posts (Short for Alien Space Bats, meaning an alternate history scenario that has an impossible point of divergence or have fantastical elements such as time-travel, alien interference, folklore beasts, change in the laws of physics, etc) are not allowed to be posted outside of its themed day, Spacebats Sunday.

  11. No Meta Posts outside of the Friday Forum Megathread. No Meta posts are to be made outside the Friday Forum Megathread. If you have any concerns regarding the state of the subreddit (Rules, Situations, Practices, etc) Refrain from making a post and instead post a comment in the megathread.

The Second RISE of Nationalism || We didnt start the fire[hopefully this isnt removed heh]

Continuation of: https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymapscj/s/ljf44RCV3S

Lore(i wrote this in a rush I may make a timeline): lore: by 2027, russia had declared a full invasion of ukraine and sent the literal entire millitary and conscripted millions, and with the disbandanment of nato by 2030, declared war on the baltics, finland and poland. at the summer of 2031, finland fell due to no support comming, and estonia followed suit. poland then declared Greater poland, revealing that poland was buying much more us equipment then they let on and produced much more. they turned on czechia, latvie, slovenia, lithuania and ukrain and blitzed all those countries, marching into belarus. russia formally annexed occupied territories and what was left of belarus and poland and russia went into a stalemate, though poland is being steadily pushed back by sheer numbers, only holding on due to support from various european nations desiring a buffer from russia and the christian autocracy.

by 2050, the nations of the uk, germany and france had much more increasing support of far right nationalism and communist uprisings, and the french were the first to fall when the french people in paris stormed the streets and executed the entire government. france fell into anarchy only held together by the millitary, though they dont have much control or organization. the people of paris declared the paris commune. the uk, after another dissastorous election and the assasination of the royal family by terrorists, with only prince archie of sussex being the only survivor. the labors and facists in the uk formally split of, and prince archie had rallied the rest of the uk to fight for the monarchy. some liberals managed to turn most of the royalists due to them commiting increasingly horrible war crimes. Germany held on for a while but the AFD managed to rouse enough support to incite a rebellion. around june of 2054, a string of events known as the Second rise of Nationalism took place. the nations of portugal, spain, italy, ireland, hungary, bulgaria and turkey had been couped by right leaders into increasingly millitaristic states. the spanish had went ahead and invaded france, portugal seems to be preparing the navy, ireland reformed into a celtic union and invaded the british isles, the facists in britain landed in normady, citing that normady was always english land since the norman invasion, and finally bulgaria and hungary started the 3rd Balkan war

the third balkan war started when bulgaria and hungary invaded romania. bulgaria also quickly annexed macedonia and invaded greece. hungary also went north and took some polish land. serbia, supported by russia, annexed sprska and montenegro and invaded croatia, bosnia and slovenia with italy joining in, annexing them, then proclaiming Jugoslavia. the governments of Greece and albania quickly mobilized and started a counter offensive, with them annexing kosovo before jugo could react. turkey tried to join but their government was in chaos and shitty as hell, and greece managed to land in istanbul, with mass support of the turks due to the shitty unpopular government, with the greek promise of equally representing turks and reforming into a confederation.

the nations of the benelux, remianing nordic countries, albania and greece, romania and austria, seeing the chaos, had met in utrecht and executed the Utrecht protocol, in which the nations of the benelux and the nations of scandinavia would unite, every goverment would reform and democratise, and above all, uphold liberty. the League of Free nations was formed. they started 2 operations as of 2060, operation lille and operation Skjope.

Operation skjope is an invasion of the Balkans, Operation lille is the invasion of france

This may not cover everything so if I missed something just llike ask

FAPU

The Idea described above is related to my project- FAPU, the free Artic People's Union.

A Map of FAPU

Where FAPU is on the world map.

Early FAPU: I would imagine territory of FAPU was barren wasteland with a population of around 10 people but then in 1750s Some Russian expedition discovered iron, coal and oil there and people started to settle. There was a colossal population boom as people flock to the island looking for a good job opportunities in Iron works.

FAPU is semi-communist. As they were rich in resources and had big ironworks they most likely had very rich few and extremely poor population. during ww1 they "ate the rich" and go with their own semi-communist revolution that's the time they split from Russian oppression. As FAPU is a semi-communist nation it might be that it was part of Bolshevik Russia but split due to the disagreement with Lenin about what a Communist nation should look like.

Due to the cold of FAPU, very little grows there so the ironworks were used to export and then they could import food.

Russia was always really bad at keeping it in it's empire so it was practically entirely self-dependent by the time of the split. In 1921 they allied with Poland and during the persecution of the Polish jews and during rebellions by Polish people FAPU secretly sent several Micro-subs over to aid the Polish rebels and jews.

Eurasian Confederation Flag and Lore

The Eurasian Confederation is a country that also comprises of many different smaller countries that have almost full autonomy and has a weak central government. This is due to the 1970s where the Soviet Union entered a massive reform for a more Libertarian Socialist ideology that is coined as "Eurasian Confederalism". This country seeks to create a horizontal leadership style, direct democracy, local autonomy, and also solidarity rather than forced collectivism. This is rather out of an idea for an alternate nation that would outperform the United States ideologically. They are also isolationist and are slightly more technologically advanced than the Soviet Union in our timeline.

Getting tired of the countless pressure thus im rebranding TNB to "a place under the sun" where no one won ww2 i mean NO ONE not even the germans nor the axis nor the japanese nor the united nations (or allies but the call themselves the united nations in 1942 until it became an international "peaceful" organisation by the time the war ended) i needed help on how the war could ended in a stalemate But not earlier as i planned for this ww2 to go one much longer until both sides said "FUCK IT IM OUT"

I am desperate

What If Everything went perfect for USSR.

I kind of messed up many things in the previous scenario, so this scenario has changes.

Things we have to change in the USSR:

In this timeline, the Bolsheviks allowed the Czechoslovak Legion to use the Trans-Siberian Railway, which meant that White Russia would be at a greater disadvantage. The Bolsheviks would have retained control over Eastern Russia in 1919 and could have consolidated it faster than in our timeline. After consolidating Eastern Siberia and Central Asia, the Bolsheviks would have gone on to conquer the Caucasus and properly militarize, recapturing Ukraine, Belarus, and the Baltics. They would have also won the Soviet-Polish War but would have lost the Brest territory to Poland. However, they would still have failed to capture all of Poland. The Russian Civil War would have ended after the Soviet-Polish War, and there would have been no further attempts by White forces and their allies to conquer Eastern Siberia. Japan would have retreated earlier too.

Things would have gone pretty similar with the USSR, Lenin dies early, Stalin turns a socialist country into a nightmarish autocracy but Tukhachevsky Conspiracy (also known as the Case of the Trotskyist Anti-Soviet Military Organization) never happened and He makes less crackdowns on military generals although NKVD would still have a sight on them. Meaning that many Experienced Soviet generals would have survived and Soviet military would have had better morale.

However, the USSR would still have signed the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

In this timeline, Finland would have agreed to cede territory to the USSR in exchange for military support.

In November 1940, Stalin took Sorge's warnings of a German invasion seriously and began evacuating citizens from the German border areas while preparing for a surprise attack. Germany would still have attacked, but with the less effects of the Purge and with early preparations, the German invasion would have failed almost immediately as they would have struggled to advance beyond Brest-Litovsk. In the winter of 1941, the USSR would have launched a devastating counteroffensive, pushing the Germans back, even reaching Kaliningrad. Germany would have made one final push by attacking Ukraine, but it would have been only a moderate success. Due to the superior Red Army, this attempt would have failed, and German supplies would have been completely exhausted, leading to another Soviet counteroffensive. The Soviets would have been much more difficult to defeat by this point.

By the winter of 1942, the Soviets would have recaptured most of Ukraine and Belarus, and by 1943, the USSR would have gone all out against the Nazis, occupying their eastern territories and allied states like Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Due to the USSR’s devastating offensives, D-Day would have occurred earlier, but harsh weather would have caused its failure. The Soviets would have managed to conquer everything up to the River Rhine.

USSR would have also managed to liberate Nations like Denmark, Yugoslavia, Northern Italy and Greece and would have installed a Stalinist dictator in power in these countries.

American translators never made mistranslations which means that Truman would have gone for Operation Downfall, but after a few months of war, the U.S. would have nuked Japan, which would have led to the USSR taking the entire Korean Peninsula instead of just the northern half.

Stalin still dies in 1953 but Malenkov had managed to consolidate his position more successfully and Malenkov had managed to get rid of Beria before Khrushchev's intervention. Malenkov also managed to maintain alliance with the key figures in the party meaning and maintained balance on focus on both Consumer goods and Heavy industry meaning that Khrushchev would have stayed as an opposition figure to Malenkov.

Malenkov would have implemented plans like Turkmen Canal, Improvement of the Agriculture of Union and would have tried to expand CMEA.

There would have been no Khrushchev's disastrous reforms, which caused diplomatic fallout with China and Albania, economic failure, agricultural collapse, and mass unemployment. The USSR would have remained more stable under Malenkov. However, Kosygin’s reforms would still have occurred due to economic stagnation.

Under Malenkov, the USSR would have won the space race because, during Operation Paperclip, most of the German scientists would have come to the USSR.

In the 1970s, Alexander Shelepin would have succeeded Malenkov and reformed the KGB into an anti-corruption institution, leading to more progress in the union and reduced corruption.

In the 1990s, Gregory Romanov would have succeeded Shelepin, continuing the Cold War. The future remains uncertain.

Things we have to change in the world:

In 1930s, USSR had managed to influence Chinese Communist party in exchange of Military support which would have led to Wang Ming gaining much greater influence but this would have not stopped him to defeat Nationalist in South China and would have become Leader of China in 1949 . This means that there would be no Sino Soviet Split.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah died of tuberculosis in the early 1940s, leading to the fall of religious dogmatism in Indian independence. This would have kept India united, and without a divided India and Wang Ming's leadership there are less to chances of 1962 war. India would have remained close to the Eastern Bloc.

In Afghanistan, Noor Muhammad Taraki received intelligence about a coup being staged by Hafizullah Amin and assassinated Amin before he could act. With Taraki surviving, he would have received massive Soviet support to defeat the Mujahideen. This would have taken several months, or up to a year, but Communist Afghanistan would have defeated the Mujahideen without the Soviet invasion, avoiding the Soviet-Afghan War.

Shelepin managed to fund the Tudeh Party in Iran significantly, leading to the Tudeh Party overthrowing the Shah in 1979 instead of Khomeini.

In Iraq, Saddam Hussein was killed in 1959, meaning the Ba'athists would have remained allies of the USSR.

Due to a larger Communist Germany, Communist North Italy, and a Soviet-friendly China, the USA would have sent even more troops to Vietnam, which would have led to widespread discontent within the U.S. They also made a mistake by diplomatically supporting Britain and France during the Suez Crisis, which meant that Ba'athists and Arabs would have been more closely aligned with the USSR. Additionally, the USA supported Argentina due to decolonization instead of Britain during the Falklands War, leading to strained relations with the UK.

The assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan was successful, meaning that his "Star Wars" program and neoliberalism would never have come to existence, leading to a weaker U.S. economy.

The USSR has kind of emerged victorious in cold war due to weaker NATO and USA.

The future of the world, however, remains uncertain.

Nov. 1963: Lee Harvey Oswald takes part in a conspiracy to assassinate president Kennedy

Let’s explores the hypothetical scenario where Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) did not act alone to assassinate president Kennedy, but instead was part of a conspiracy.

1. The co-conspirators

The first thing is to determine what type of conspiracy LHO could realistically have been part of, and who his co-conspirators would have been.

If we study historical precedents, only one U.S. presidential assassinations has been done by a group of conspirators—the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in 1865. All other assassinations have been done by lone individuals. The most serious attempts to kill a president (Reagan), president-elect (FDR) or former president (Jackson, T. Roosevelt, Trump) were also carried out by lone actors. These individuals were either mentally unstable or politically motivated.

The Lincoln conspiracy was a small one (only 8 people were convicted), and was also politically motivated.

LHO, for his part, was a 29-year-old secretive, violent and arrogant man. He was broke, couldn’t keep a job, and his marriage was in shambles. In short, he was a loser no serious organisation would have trusted with an operation as important as assassinating a U.S. president.

Therefore, the only realistic scenario is that, in this alternate timeline, LHO encountered one or two individuals similar to himself: losers, far-left extremists, and willing to resort to political violence. He could have met them as part of his communist activities. (Of course, for the sake of this hypothetical scenario, we will set aside the "butterfly effect" implications of inventing these characters.)

2. The point of divergence

To avoid significantly altering the timeline of events, let us assume that Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) befriended these individuals after his attempted assassination of Edwin Walker on April 10, 1963. Had he met them earlier, they might have planned Walker’s assassination together, potentially changing the timeline even further. For instance, their involvement could have led to different outcomes—perhaps their arrest, or even a successful assassination of Walker, which might have eliminated their motive to target President Kennedy later.

By placing their meeting around April 1963, this timeline allows seven months for them to become acquainted, bond over their extremist views, and deliberate on committing an act of political violence together.

3. The decision

In our timeline, the JFK’s assassination was opportunistic. The motorcade route happened to pass in front of the Texas School Book Depository, where Lee Harvey Oswald had recently started working.

In this alternate timeline, if Oswald still secures the same job at the Book Depository (a position he obtained by random chance, and one that could easily be altered by the butterfly effect), the events might unfold differently. Once the motorcade route is announced to the public, Oswald could inform his associates, and together they plan the assassination.

4. The preparation: what would change?

In this alternate timeline, Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) would likely have a better rifle. In our timeline, he was broke and could only afford a cheap rifle. With the support of accomplices, they could pool resources to acquire a higher-quality firearm.

LHO also wouldn’t need to ask a coworker for a ride to transport “curtain rods.” If his rifle were still at home, one of his co-conspirators would likely give him a ride instead.

However, since the Texas School Book Depository was Oswald’s workplace, it is unlikely he could have smuggled his accomplices to the sixth floor. Therefore, LHO would likely still shoot Kennedy alone from the sixth floor.

Where would his co-conspirators be? One might position himself in a car at the rear of the building to facilitate LHO’s escape. Another could be stationed at Dealey Plaza to monitor the situation, create a diversion, or even attempt to shoot Kennedy himself if LHO missed.

5. The assassination

In our timeline, LHO had enough time to fire three shots, hitting the target twice and killing the president. Multiple reenactments by the FBI, television networks, and others have shown that the shots were achievable, with many performers achieving better accuracy than LHO.

With a better rifle in this alternate timeline, it’s highly likely that LHO would still succeed in assassinating Kennedy.

6. The aftermath

In our timeline, LHO managed to escape the Book Depository and fled the area by bus. In this alternate version, he would escape out the back of the building and be picked up in a car by one of his co-conspirators.

LHO’s escape plan in our timeline was haphazard—he went to his rooming house briefly before leaving again. Meanwhile, the police quickly identified him as a suspect. When confronted by a patrolman, LHO killed him, fled to a theater, and was eventually arrested there after attempting to shoot an arresting officer.

In the alternate timeline, the aftermath would likely be better coordinated. LHO might hide at the home of one of his co-conspirators, or they could attempt to flee the area together. Nevertheless, the police would still likely identify LHO as a suspect and potentially uncover his accomplices.

This alternate scenario would probably end in a shootout where LHO and his accomplices are killed.

7. Conspiracy theories

In our timeline, conspiracy theories surrounding JFK’s assassination have proliferated over the years, with many Americans still refusing to believe he was killed by a lone assassin. Would these theories remain as prevalent in this alternate timeline?

Of course, in this scenario, there really is a conspiracy. However, the presence of an actual conspiracy does not inherently prevent alternate theories from emerging—consider the persistent theories surrounding 9/11, for example.

So, what would have happened?

On one hand, the involvement of accomplices could provide the public with a clearer understanding of the motivations behind the assassination and the details of the plot. A group leaves more evidence than a lone individual, offering a more complete picture of the event. This clarity might reduce the appeal of speculative or exotic theories.

Additionally, if Oswald and his accomplices were killed in a shootout, it would seem less suspicious than Oswald’s death in custody in our timeline. And of course, at least one of the accomplices could have survived and confessed the whole thing.

On the other hand, several factors would still encourage conspiracy theories. Chief among them is the pervasive distrust of the government, which only grew during the Vietnam War (and was exacerbated by subsequent scandals like Watergate). – there is a reason many conspiracy theorists claim JFK intended to withdraw U.S. forces from Vietnam.

Sure, other high-profile killings, such as those of Martin Luther King Jr. or Robert Kennedy, have generated less conspiracy theories. But JFK was the sitting president, a young and charismatic leader, and a symbol of the optimism of the early 1960s—a time before the Vietnam escalation, countercultural unrest, and disillusionment with government set in.

It’s also worth noting that even in our timeline, where the evidence against Oswald is overwhelming (fingerprints, ballistic analyses, eyewitness accounts, etc.), a majority of Americans still prefer alternative explanations.

Conclusion: In this alternate timeline, conspiracy theories would still emerge, though they might not be as widespread or deeply ingrained as in our timeline. The extent of their popularity would depend on several factors, in particular: whether any conspirators survived to provide full confessions, and how much evidence clarified the plot.

What if eastern Prussia remained independent and Prussian Germans remained in their homelands?

Alright so pretty self explanatory so I'm gonna say my take on the matter (my theory is inspired by others on YouTube and such)

So after the second world war and the defeat of Hitler the scene of Germany would split into three different nations 1.west Germany 2.east Germany 3.Prussia the Prussians would obviously be a Soviet puppet and a member of the Warsaw Pact and for majority of the Cold War it remained non important, the only relevance it had to the Soviets was the warmer naval bases (Leningrad froze over in the winter) and a perfect deportation site for the Volga Germans who settled Russia during the reign of cathrine the great, anyway the Volga Germans would mix with the local Prussians after a while it would blend with the Prussian culture, that would create a unique and patriotic Prussian identity, drastically different yet similar to their Germanic brothers west, so any unification with the other Germans would be unpopular by the common Prussians, during the Soviet era the prussian economy would suffer reliant on the Warsaw Pact Prussia would be so poor it would be poorer then the Baltic SSRs, after the Cold War the Prussians would declare independence, and because of their extreme Prussian patriotism (and mix of the Volga German culture) they wouldn't reunite with the other Germanys instead becoming a constitutional monarchy. On the modern world stage Prussia would be just as vital as the baltics majority of its economy would be a strong and self sufficient, with a popular tourism industry mainly to konnisberg, the Prussians would identify as different from the other Germans claiming that the Prussians and Germans were different and how Germany was birthed from Prussia. In summery Prussia would be just a naval base and dumping site of the Volga Germans, and in modern days have a strong industry, influence across its neighbors, and a strong independent Prussian culture.

A Peaceful Timeline

Response to this post, but the post was old enough that I decided to make a new post instead of replying.

Timeline doesn't really look at the Southern Hemisphere because I don't know enough about its history (sorry).

Shortly after they form, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy becomes more powerful than they do in OTL. Their trade relationships with their neighbours deepen, and various mutual assistance pacts and land-use treaties are formed. Within a century, the result is an alliance similar to the Holy Roman Empire: A chaotic amalgamation of individually negotiated treaties, with the Confederacy at its core.

With the Haudenosaunee Confederacy exerting more regional power than they did in OTL, and being constantly in negotiations with themselves in order to get anything done, their leaders become a lot more cynical and inclined to realpolitik. When Europe makes contact, they quickly learn all they can about the European cultures.

When Britain begins claiming land under the Doctrine of Discovery, the Haudenosaunee leadership recognizes European colonization as an existential threat. They lack the military to contest the claim by force, but they send out delegations to as many North American nations as they can, seeking to adopt a unified foreign policy. The overtures are not completely successful, but most nations at least become wary of the Europeans.

The fur trade still happens, but the federation does their best to maintain control over as much of the logistics as possible. The Hudson's Bay Company is actually limited to the Hudson's Bay, and doesn't expand into most of the continent.

At this time delegations from different North American nations travel to London and Paris, meeting with European leaders. They speak excellent English and French, and their primary goal is to get Europe to treat them as fellow sovereign states instead of savages with no claim to statehood. France is more convinced than Britain.

In 1776 (or thereabouts) Britain is trying to get more resources out of their empire, and decides to expand the Thirteen Colonies into "unused" territory. The Haudenosaunee object, and this time they have enough of a military to do so with force. War breaks out. Always eager for a chance to hurt the British, France sends military support. Some people in the Thirteen Colonies also want independence from Britain, and many fight on the Haudenosaunee side. In the final peace deal, Britain promises not to take any more land in North America without the permission of its inhabitants. The Thirteen Colonies remain a British possession but also sign treaties with the Haudenosaunee, and end up with non-voting membership in the federation.

When the French Revolution rolls around, the rebelling French soldiers are less republican, since they didn't pick that up from the American Revolution. The Revolution is more liberal and moderate. Louis XVI survives. The government adopted is a form of constitutional monarchy, with some American influences, like a bigger focus on consensus-building. The church and nobility have their power curtailed, but maintain some power and most of their social status. There is no Reign of Terror, and Napoleon never gets the chance to stage a coup.

France comes out the other end of the Revolution as a stable liberal democracy with a figurehead King. The monarchies of Europe are concerned, but without the radicalism we see in OTL, they don't muster the political will to actually declare war on France.

There are no Napoleonic Wars, and Europe manages to avoid any other great power conflicts. The Congress of Vienna never happens either, but a lot of the institutions it spawned evolve eventually.

Without the horrors of the French Revolution, Europe is a lot less skeptical of liberalism. When Germany unifies, it ends up more liberal, and Italy does the same. With physical and ideological proximity, France, Germany, and Italy hold various trilateral trade summits.

The success of German and Italian unification inspires an American unification movement. Within a few years, the continent has reorganized into the United American Federation, a superstate stretching from the Arctic Circle to the Mexican border. (A few smaller nations choose to maintain limited independence, becoming associates instead of joining outright.) The UAF has sizable populations with European ancestry, and its government is a fusion of European democracy and the traditional Haudenosaunee structure, with some influences from other American nations. Although uninterested in expansionism, the UAF has a great deal of soft power which it uses to achieve foreign policy objectives (its primary objectives are a stable, peaceful, non-threatening Europe, an aligned Mexico, and improving relations with China.)

The French-German-Italian trade agreement grows, and basically becomes the EU. They improve the rights of workers enough that Communism never takes off. With Europe much more friendly with itself, WWI doesn't happen, and the chaos required for the Russian Revolution also never happens. I think this results in a cold war between the democracies and the totalitarian states, but I'm not sure. It's not a war that's likely to go hot, though, because the democracies aren't very interested in conquering Russia, and anyone stupid enough to mess with UAF allies will be brutally smacked down by a nation-state the size of a continent.

This was pretty fun to write! It's also my first attempt at an alternate history, so feedback is very much encouraged.

The New Babylon a realistic axis victory

Its the year 1960 and the world has changed, ever since the end of the second world war germany dominates europe while britain watches the germans becoming stronger and stronger all thanks to hermann goerings reforms after hitlers death in 1955. The soviet union manages to survive but at what cost? Bukharin after overthrowing stalin in 1934 after the disaster, of the holodomor had caused the entire party to overthrow him electing bukharin into power, the golden boy tried to save what was left of the damage caused by both trotsky and stalin but by the time, 1940 came the UK sued for peace thus alerting the soviets june 22nd 1941 the germans launched operation barbarrossa but unlike our own it simply, frozes like what the first world war or great war is italy dominates the african continent after successfully invading egypt while japan struggles to fight against the americans (and still losed in 1945 but apologies for the war crimes) the war in the east by 43-45 ended in an utter stalemate, The post war years was disasterous The soviets, still coping their defeat against the axis while the Nationalists in china are gradually winning against the communists despite, funding from the soviets they ended up losing anyway with the establishment of the Republic of China in 1950, The US and canada and britain all formed the UNITED NATIONS, not an international organisation but a western alliance, as a way to protect the "free world" and even invited the soviets. 1955 hitler died by natural causes the supposed successor was joseph geobbles, martin borman got in the way and tried to take over but only for the wehrmact to step right in to stop all of it, herman goering is the new fuhrer noticing the post war struggles of germany and, has a deep feeling that this power, struggle may have caused every piece of hitlers work to all fall down causing a civil war getting help from the wehrmact, launches a supposed "coup de'tat" and restoring normalcy in germany at the same time the german-italo split came with the formation of both the mediteranian league and the Einheitspakt. Its 1960 and the world has never been colder than before

(NOTE: MODS PLS DONT DELETE THIS I WORKED HARD ON THIS ITS A PASSION PROJECT OF MINE!) (Is this tno??? No its not its more like twr but yes it has bits of tno but unlike tno russia is fine and strong but a bit weak from the war)

Dominion of North America (1870)

After the defeat of the American rebellion the British realize that the current political situation in North America is untenable and decide to grant more political autonomy to their American colonies. The Dominion of North America is formed out of 13 rebellious new world colonies. The Dominion is also granted all territory west of the Mississippi and South of the Great lakes for future settlement, however they are required to sign treaties with indigenous nations in order to seize the territory. This satisfies the Americans’ desire to expand while ensuring territory is seized legally under British law. After the French revolution fighting breaks out between British North America and French troops in Louisiana. The Dominion emerges victorious and incorporates Louisiana into the Dominion.

Member Provinces:

Province of Nova Scotia: Joined in after being separated from the majority French New Brunswick which joined the Dominion of Canada. Scottish Gaelic is widely spoken along with English.

Commonwealth of Kentucky: Formed from Virginia’s western territory.

Province of Tennessee: Formed from North Carolina’s western territory.

Commonwealth of Sequoyah: Formed from Georgia’s western territory. Created after a treaty with the Cherokee, Muskogee, Choctaw, and Chickasaw as a Native American state. The government is is modelled after the British Westminster system with an Upper House consisting of hereditary chiefs from the various native tribes and a Lower House consisting of representatives elected by the citizens of Sequoyah. Citizenship of Sequoyah works differently from all other provinces. In most provinces anyone can move there and become a resident equal to anyone else. Sequoyah however is allowed to impose additional restrictions on voting rights in order to maintain its status as a native commonwealth. After a native rebellion funded by the French during the war for Louisiana, many native tribes east of the Mississippi were deported to Sequoyah. The tribes were given full citizenship and representation in the Upper House, however they have far fewer Upper House chiefs per capita than the four founding tribes. As the British North Americans settled further west of the Mississippi, some native tribes would willingly move to Sequoyah as part of their treaties, gaining Upper House seats for their chiefs.

Province of West Florida: Originally a British colony separate from the Dominion, the British let the Dominion annex it for European settlement in exchange for creating the Commonwealth of Sequoyah.

Province of Louisiana: French is widely spoken here, formed after annexation of the Louisiana territory.

Province of Ohio: Formed after signing treaties with natives in the Indian Territory.

Province of Indiana: Formed after signing treaties with natives in the Indian Territory.

Province of Illinois: Formed after signing treaties with natives in the Indian Territory.

Michigan Territory: A territory south of the Great Lakes.

Arkansas Territory: A territory north of Louisiana.

Missouri Territory: A Territory on the Great Plains.

Poland Is Not Yet Lost: The Republic of Poland in 2024

After German victory, things seemed bleak for Poland, being ruled by a government that was insistent on their assimilation/extermination. However, a hope was carried on, and as German power in Europe faltered in the 1960s, an underground resistance took its opportunity, and rose up in the Second Warsaw Uprising, using German weakness and covert American and British aid to take the city. This success was followed in other cities, eventually overwhelming the Nazis and establishing the Polish Third Republic in 1974. Having lost many beneficial aspects of the prewar environment, such as sea access and much human capital, the restoration of Poland was a difficult process, but as Nazi rule further collapsed across Eastern Europe, Poland and the other new nations rose firm, establishing ties with the West and forging the difficult path of restoring their nations.

This sub fell off HARD

Seriously, it's just boring map posts. And if someone tries to make a high effort post or wikibox, it gets zero traction or gets deleted.

It seems we hit the peak in July of 2024 and it was all downhill from there

Suggestion: Can we make a separate sub with lesser rules?

I mean, there are things that people want to post here but can't becuase of strict rules.

No mentioning politics from the decade prior, no "What if" questions, no exceptions, no excuses.

This means no 2nd american civil war, no COVID, no modern-day WW3, no Trump, no Israel, and a flurry of other things.

Want US civil war? Use the OG one. Want Trump? Go back to 2000s, and no MAGA. Want Ukraine? Putin? Make sure the USSR is still alive.

Maybe we should make a subreddit with lesser rules. For people who want to make althist, but the rules tell them to leave.

What do you think of this?
