What app do you use to keep track of your projects/stash??
This is a sneak peek of what’s currently on my iPhone. I was using Yarn Buddy but I wasn’t impressed. Currently I’m using Yarnal app. I paid for the upgrade and like it. You can import PDF’s. But I want to do more. lol. I was hoping that Raverly had an app.
I want to be able to upload videos and websites into the project that I’m currently working on.
What app do you use and would suggest?
found this really nice yarn at a thrift store, approximately worsted weight I’d guess? Hoping someone recognizes it
Ever go to Joann's or Michael’s for a simple project and get hit with a wall of blanket yarn in every color? It's like walking into a yarn jungle where every vine is chenille. Meanwhile, you’re just trying to find some decent worsted weight and it’s nowhere to be seen. Is it too much to ask for a yarn selection that doesn’t scream "couch blanket"? 😩
I received this yarn from a client of mine a bit ago and I LOVE the color way. anyone able to ID?
I've loved the cotton cakes I've gotten from them (twister is soooo pretty and I've gotten maybe too many colorways lol), but on the flipside, I didn't much like their alpaca yarn. I know they're meant to be in that mid-range of quality, so unsure if wouldn't be better to just stick with their cotton blends. just bought some more twister from them recently so I'm trying to convince myself not to splurge again, but then again, dolce's on sale and they say it might be discontinued, so... for anyone who's worked with dolce cashmere in the past, how is it?
Just picked these up at my local yarn store. Planning to use these with some minis I have for two scarfs 🥰
I recently asked if anyone has gone to Webs within the past few weeks, and a few days later, I actually took an impromptu trip up to Webs with my mom. There are a few things I wanted to share about our experience.
TLDR: current status of store - low stock on many things. New customer database as of oct 2024. Staff wasn’t very nice.
First, the store did feel empty. I was having difficulty finding sweater quantities of yarn that I liked. There were several instances where I liked a yarn, but they would have 3-4 when I would need 5-7 depending on weight and such.
Second, there were multiple aisle sections of bin yarn but many boxes were totally empty, so essentially just dead space. More specifically, both the back sections on left and right were all cardboard boxes, and the left section wrapped around the wall. But again, over half the boxes were just empty. And frankly, the bin yarns just felt mostly junky or overpriced.
Third, we each had gift cards to use, which caused issues bc they have a new system as of oct 2024. Although my mom and I have been there many many times, we had to be entered as new customers. My mom asked if her purchase info was still available, they said no. My mom was like, I’ve purchased patterns online and in store, do I still have access to them? They said currently no. My mom will have to call webs customer service and have them transfer her purchases from the previous system to the new system. Back to the gift cards. The gift cards didn’t work at first, and they cashier said they’ve been having problems since the new system. We had to wait for a manager to come up and check all of our gift cards in the back on their old system. Very weird to me. It also took almost 10 mins for her to do that.
The last thing is that their website is not reflective of the store at all. Prior to going in, I was looking through their website and found a few things I liked, one of which was the cascade cantata handpaint. I wanted to see the colorways in person, but couldn’t find them in the store. When I asked, the salesperson indicated they had them after she checked her stock sheet. After looking in the area, the salesperson said “idk they must have been moved. Let me ask someone else.” I continued shopping. The salesperson came back to me and said they don’t have them in store. On the flip side, there were many things in store that aren’t listed as out of stock online and some things that aren’t online at all.
Overall, I was hoping this trip would help ease my concerns about the future of webs, but in fact, I’m more concerned. My mom, who has been going there much longer than me, started googling “yarn stores like webs” as soon as we got back to the hotel bc she said “that’s not the webs I know.”
If anyone has had different or similar experiences, I’d be happy to hear them. I will likely go to the tent sale, but if that isn’t up to par, I’m not sure where I’ll start shopping.
I’ve been looking for brown chenille yarn #5 yarn in stores but i feel like no one has it. Either the color has a weird orange tint or it’s too dark. I also don’t want to order it online because i’ve had to many bad experiences ordering yarn online. I’ve tried micheal’s and joann’s and also other retail stores but no one has like a normal brown. If anyone can tell me where I can find it that would be great!
Wanting to make a jumper but don’t know what yarn to go for, What’s worked best for people? 🙏
Funky yarns are quite pricey so I tend to go around charity shops and find scraps. Today was quite lucky and found 3 small fresh wool balls. Stashing away for later project. 😍
Before I go buy overpriced sweet snuggles to stock up, is hobbi honey bunny the same size? Like completely interchangeable same size?
Hello! I was gifted a single skein of caron ombre (I thought it was called "harvest", but ravelry shows it as "sunset"), and it's only missing 2 feet at most. It's a mix of goldenrod yellows, soft orange, brown, and a little pink. (https://www.ravelry.com/stash/search#colorway-link=19012-sunset&photo=yes&view=thumbs&yarn-link=caron-jumbo-ombre)
I'm 95% sure i want to make a shawl-- but 1 skein isn't going to be enough. What color yarn should I buy to stretch/add to the shawl length? Im really struggling to match the shades of yellow/brown/pink, so maybe a contrast color? I know how to knit, tunisian crochet, and (regular) crochet (in order of preference), so i welcome other ideas or specific shawl patterns if you have any!
This one was from (I think) a machine made sweater/drape, but I was careful with my seam ripper and managed to get some good cakes out of it. The tag said that it was an alpaca/cotton/wool blend - I’ve heard that alpaca can have memory, so I’m hoping that my next project with it doesn’t carry too much of the previous garment in it. It looked to me like it was a bulky weight yarn, although now I’m not so sure - any opinions on it would be welcome!
But at least its organized! More or less grouped by project (or ideas)
Does anyone know where to source himalaya bikini yarn in the UK. I've ordered some from abroad with a £22 delivery but two weeks later the delivery date continues to be pushed.
First bag of yarn bought on Birthday Weekend! They were pretty!
I’m not looking forward to the smell of wet wool. Can I add essential oils to it to make it scented? Or anything else? Thanks for any suggestions.
I do no go to JoAnns a lot the closest one is like an hour away but I did order some stuff online. After the post service holding it hostage for 3 days it finally came today! These will be a sweater and socks one day.
