    Project Ideas

Hello fellow yarn lovers! I was recently given a beautiful stash of yarn and some of the yarn I was given is SO thin. I've been knitting/crocheting for probably abt 20 years now but I can't for the life of me think of what I could make with these yarns! Pictures to show how thin they are. The blue is a cotton I'm p sure, and the purple/pink multicolor is wool (or a high wool percentage blend) all ideas are very welcome!!

    Pattern ideas?

Going through handed down stash of yarns, there is some of the James C Brett Zodiac in there.

Question is I don't know what types of things it could be crocheted or knitted into? Anyone have any experience with it, or have used it for anything in particular? Or even any pattern suggestions??

    Metal and wooden needles

Anyone have experience with difference in gauge using wooden and metal needles? I have knitted the body with wooden ones, that I like the best, but now I want to knit the sleeves with 25 cm needles that only exist in metal.

I think I will knit looser with metal needles as they are smoother will just try and see how it goes, but wanted to hear peoples experiences. 🙂

ISO Yarn Recommendation Mixed Set of Wool

Looking to find a set of cheep/cheep-ish wool or wool blend to use for the motif on my tapestry crochet. I was originally going to use acrylic but did the burn test on my mystery yarn and determined its wool so I’d feel bad using acrylic for the motif when the rest of the sweater is a nice wool. Looking for something that’s got regular or mini skeins in the full rainbow of colors including browns, black and white but aren’t super bright primary colors. Something very muted and sophisticated- worsted weight. Does anything like that exist without spending $$$?

How do yarn companies that don’t do lot numbers guarantee that their yarn is always the same shade?

I was just wondering how some yarn brands (like red heart super saver) don't have dye lots? Like they can't guarantee that the color is going to be exactly the same every single time unless they do extreme quality control and get rid of anything that doesn't match exactly. I feel like it would just be easier (and more cost effective) to show the due lot on each skein. Idk if anybody would actually have an answer to this, i was just wondering.🤔

    Australian crocheters help 🙏

Hi Aussie crocheters! What are we all using for summer wearables? There are so many cute things I want to make for my kids but it's so damn hot here and yarns that are lightweight enough just seem to be too hot.

Happy to buy in store like spotlight or order something online but just not sure what to get.

I am trying to do a new project, a scoodie. a scarf hoodie.

The pattern calls for brushed acrylic.

    Have you seen this yarn?

I’ve been searching for 2 months and it’s NOT: Rasta in unicorn bark, Franca in party, Madelinetosh in Kauai, Plymouth Grande in 143, Savvy in all color ways, Alla Prima in field blossom, Lana Grossa Confetti.

All ideas are welcome! Looking for a yarn that’s: Super bulky, wool, speckled with hot pink, orange, yellow, purple and teal on white/offwhite.

    Nicer yarn, similar colors?

I got this yarn from Joann’s for a donation project. It’s Red Heart Stripes in Retro Stripe. It’s perfect for this project, but I’m loving the color and would love to buy something similar in a hand dye or similar. It’s like neon sherbet colors or neon pastels, if that makes sense? Thoughts on where you’ve seen anything like this?
