Any idea what year this yarn is from?

My friend bought this earlier today. Does anyone know roughly what year it is from?

Anything I can do about dirty yarn?

I ordered some yarn online, got some KnitPicks Comfy because it was highly recommended online and I wanted some niceish cotton yarn for a baby blanket. But its really dirty? Theres all these little flecks of something dark that seems to be all along the skein. I got like 14 skeins so 10 of them are in still in the factory wrapped plastic and I can see it on them as well. I honestly wouldn't worry about it if it wasn't for a baby blanket. I'm trying to pick it out as I got but its nearly a bit of dirt per stitch. I'm kind of new to crochet but I've bought a decent amount of yarn and never seen this, annoying because it seemed to be a fan favorite. For other who have used Comfy is this normal?

Edit: I will start by contacting customer service! Thanks all, wasn’t sure if it was something normal with certain fibers or something.

    Help finding discontinued yarn

Hello everyone. I am in the process of a blanket for a friend with MS that I need more skeins in order to finish it. The problem is that the yarn is now discontinued. I am looking for Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton in the color “woodland wisp.” Is there anywhere in particular that I could look for a stash busting community or discounted yarn website that I could try? I would greatly appreciate any and all assistance in this.

    Thank you so much!

Looking for recommendations for yarns and yarn shops in Auckland, Christchurch or Queenstown

Hi. I’ll be visiting New Zealand and would love to get some New Zealand wool. I crochet and am starting to knit as well. I would appreciate recommendations for yarn shops as well as which yarns made in New Zealand that you enjoy working with. Thanks!

Yarn hank has some torn strands, any fix or solution

I was gifted a really beautiful yarn hank but as i started to unravel it (i dont have a yarn swift so i do ye olde put over my knees and hand wind into a ball) as i was doing this i noticed that there were a few loose strands but not the usual short pieces of yarn you cut before winding, it looks like a few strands have been accidentally torn or cut- obviously if you know yarn hanks you know its not as easy as pulling out the strands causing the issue.

Ive been trying to wind it regardless of these strands but its causing some tangling whilst winding where i have to stop to see where its caught, take the ball im winding and shove it through so its not tangled anymore.

Is there a way to save the hank and make winding easier that im just not seeing? I really dont want to just give up because its a yarn id really love to use!

Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated!

HELP FINDING YARN BRAND AND COLOR!

I started this project yesterday and realized I will not have enough yarn to finish. I got some yarn from my boyfriend’s grandma so it’s probably very old. I’m wondering if anyone has ever seen or used yarn that is this color or something very similar to it because I think it’s so pretty and I want to finish the project! Thanks.

    yarn brand?

I bought this yarn with no brand online in a random japan surplus and started on a project without knowing that it was on limited stock and now I ran out of yarn and can't finish my project. It's kinda fuzzy but it has a soft texture, I'm guessing alpaca or cashmere. It's also a bit soft and stretchy when it comes together. Help me find this yarn, pleaseeee!

Best hook size for Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton DK

I think this yarn is too thin to be classified as a DK weight. It's more like a fine weight. It recommends a size 4 mm hook, but it feels too loose. I want to make a double crochet summer mini skirt using this yarn. I want it too have some flow to it but don't want it to be too gappy. A 3.5 mm hook creates nice and defined stitches, but I fear it would make the piece too rigid. What do you think is the best hook size for this project?

Does anyone here have any ideas what yarn this might be?

I made the mistake of assuming I had enough of this old yarn to make ears for a bunny I'm knitting. And I aaaalllmost did. But this last ear couldn't be finished. Problem is it was yarn I got out of a stash form my mom and nothing had labels! Does anyone have suggestions on what this yarn might be?

Anyone have experience with ordering big twist posh online?

They aren’t back in stores yet but I saw some colors are in stock to order so I went ahead and snagged them but I’m unsure if it’s a mistake and they’ll end up canceling the order. Anyone try this?

ISO Australian based yarn spinners? 🫶

    Hey all!

A couple years back I purchased some beautiful raw merino wool that I cleaned and hand spun. I enjoyed the fun I had with it and all the learning curves, but I wasn’t satisfied with my quality of hand spun yarn.

Im hoping to see if anyone from Australia is able to spin my wool for me! (for a fee of course) I’m hoping I can get someone with a spinning wheel to get a consistent knit-worthy skein of yarn :)

Let me know if you can or you know someone! Thank you 🫶

    Yarn stores/recs in Trier?

    I hope this is allowed!

I'll be visiting Trier in Germany next week to meet up with a friend, but I'd love to visit a yarn store. I'll only stay for one night, but I am able to travel through the city. I'll travel back by car towards the Netherlands, so if there's anything on the way back I can also stop there. Does anyone know any good recommendations or stores I shouldn't miss?

I'm especially interested in recycled or upcycled yarn or various plant fibers if that makes any difference.

    Thanks in advance!

    Best yarn for blankets ?

Hi friends! I’m newer to the world of fiber arts, and wanted to ask some advice about the best DK or worsted weight yarn for crocheting a blanket? I know acrylic is obviously cheaper but i do have some reservations about acrylic. Would 100% cotton be too heavy for a twin sized blanket ? I could be open to blends as well, although my preference would be for natural fibers. But the hard part is that i am on a limited budget. :( any recommendations for brands or specific yarns are appreciated !
