Looking for mod recommendations for a new playthrough

Cross post from r/Morrowind since I didn't realise this sub existed

I've played vanilla Morrowind to death but got a hankering for another go. My favourite mod experience to date has been a heavily modded Telvanni playthrough (Rise of House Telvanni, Uvirith's Legacy etc) that added a great deal of very specific content for that house. I'm looking for other mod recommendations that will add a lot of depth to some other aspect of the game, be it one of the other great houses, a faction, or something entirely different. Appreciate any recommendations.

any mods that make npcs not turn and face you so fast?

They creep me out when you approach and they instantaneously turn 180 degrees and start saying shit. Is there any mod that makes their turning animation more natural? (or as a last resort, makes them not turn at all)

Looking for a certain mod.

Got suggested to post this here too, so I am.

I doubt I'll get much luck, but I decided to ask. Recently I was able to reinstall Morrowind and I have been modding it with mainly mods that enhance the lore accurate weapons and armor(just adding in weapons and armor that would realistically exist based on lore and the world of Morrowind).

However years ago(mid to late 2000s), I used to use a mod of Aragorn's sword Anduril. I was recently curious about it and decided to look it up. Unfortunately in my attempts to search for this mod now, nothing has turned up. I don't remember much, but I do remember that in the mod Anduril was located in the center of Red Mountain sticking out of a rock/ground at the base of the swirling vortex by the entrance to Dagoth Ur's lair.

If anyone happens to remember this mod or knows where I may find it, I'd appreciate it. I don't know if I'll use it in this playthrough. But I'd like to have it either way as it was one mod I have fond memories of. I also have the good ole Lilarcor mod, though I don't use him. Just nice to see him leaned against the wall of Arille's. Kind of want Anduril for the same purpose. Thanks in advance.

Wrye Mash refuses to run

Edit: Fixed
I was using the 2019 download instead of the 2021 version. Using the newer version fixed the issue

Using Wrye Mash Polemos Fork 2021
Looking for some help getting the program running. I get through the installation wizard, set up all my file paths, hit continue then nothing happens at all. When I go to launch the program again it simply goes through setting up file paths and doesn't ever proceed to the actual program itself. Anyone have any suggestion?

Missing Texture while wearing Daedric boos as female. DMRA armor replacer.

Why am I missing texture on Daedric boots from DMRA armor replacer ? (only while wearing them as a female character). Male npc is wearing them just fine. I noticed that the purple boots also show what looks like a normal map, as there is a texture like image within the purple. When boots are placed on the ground the texture is fine as well. The texture shows up in nifscope. I am using the latest OPENMW build and mod organizer. Can I fix the problem with the construction set? Modify the mod itself? What steps can I take to fix the mod.

Everything turning into Skyrim?

I installed Skyrim UI using MO2 and now no matter what other UI mod I try it stays Skyrim, I’ve tried Monochrome UI and UI Revamped. If I turn off all UI mods it goes back to vanilla, I’m very confused, any ideas what causes this/how to fix it?

The picture shows values calculated on the fly for the ebony broadsword modified by the Hardcore Morrowind Mod (awesome mod).

The vanilla ebony-broadsword requirements-values are as follows:
Strength: 78, Agility: 43, skill: 5 and the formula affecting only broadswords is:
Broadsword: Long Blade - skill: 5; Strength: 30+2 * weight; Agility:30 + 0.5 * weight

All of that, and more, can be seen in the design document spreadsheet file.

Steam deck modding

Does anyone have experience modding Morrowind on steam deck? I recently got the itch to get back to Vvardenfell but I have zero experience with Linux. Ive found some YouTube guides but most of them are a year+ old and likely outdated since new updates tend to break things.

Does anyone know of any good and current resources for someone dipping their toes into steam deck modding for the first time? I'm pretty experienced modding the game on PC/Windows so I'm not a COMPLETE noob, but my experience with Linux so far reminds me a lot more of using DOS long ago in the way way back.

I'm working a mod that adds level and skill requirements for gear/clothing/amulets/weapons/armor.

There are mods that do this already, but none do it all-in-one or take it far enough (to my liking) (I posted about those other mods in the past, and I've modified them significantly by now)

However as I play an test my current version of the mod I'm starting to wonder if it really makes sense to require character-level and skill-level to wield a weapon or wear some armor, vs doing it like Elden Ring does and requiring a certain combination of attributes (such as strength + dexterity to wield a saber.)

Both games have the same number of attributes:

More or less attributes matches by what they do

So similar combinations can occur:
In Elden Ring a basic dagger looks like this

Normally a level 1 character in Morrowind has this stats:

So if we take 30 as 0 this is like Fahrenheit and Celsius

Our dagger would be
STR: 41 -> (5°C × 9/5) + 32 = 41°F
AGI: 48 -> (9°C × 9/5) + 32 = 48.2°F

At the other end of the spectrum we have something like the giant crusher:

For us this would be Aevar's mace (max damage 90):
STR: 140.

For mages in Elden Ring this Staff has this requirements:

Azur's Glintstone

For mages the ebony staff has the highest enchantment capacity at 90 so the stats could be:
STR: 50
INT: 126

I think a level 20 character with some fortify gear could have at least one stat at that level.
It would require Skill/attributes uncapped in the MCP, not a big deal I think.

The mod can still require you have some amount of skill in the corresponding skill category.
To signify the user has experience in said skill. Sure you may be strong enough to use Aevar's mace, but have you ever held a mace before? That kind of thing.

All of this obviously is ALMOST the same as having a level and a skill requirements (what I have now), but that's less granular. And some problems arise:

  1. My level 10 character can train a few skills at a trainer and in a second ALSO be a wizard.

But if the wizard gear requires Intelligence well... my current lvl 10 character has 80+ Strength but only 28 intelligence (I'm using a mod that detracts Attribute points based on some RP-background selections).
If I only have level-restrictions + Skill-restrictions all staffs fall under the BLUNT skill, so my thick skull nord can 100% wield a powerful staff once he reaches the right level (because he already has super high BLUNT skills) ... seems wrong.

Final notes:

  • Anything that can't or shouldn't be quantified with attributes can rely on levels, such as tools, clothing, etc.
  • Amulets, scrolls and other things would require attribute checks such as potions, a lowly crappy potion can be consumed by anyone but a master potion needs high endurance maybe.
  • I do think I would like to have a slider with a multiplier in the mod for people that like to take their characters to lvl 60+ can adjust the ratio to require higher attributes.

Morrowind code patch forcing steam requirement

i recently switched from steam morrowind to the gog version and when i apply Morrowind code patch i get the application load error 5 which is a steam error i have no idea how to fix this and could use any ideas thanks for reading

I want to update Tamriel Data but don't want to ruin my game because I am a noob

I want to update to the newest version of Tamriel Data. I have a version from 2 years ago and a mod I'm using might require the newest version. I am not using Tamriel Rebuilt but was trying to make the mod Vanilla friendly creatures and undead expansion work. After installing Vanilla Friendly Creatures I got this popup

Unable to locate creature 'T_Dae_Cre_Seduc_01' in leveled creature 'in_dae_all_lev+0' (Creatures_RP_Purist.ESP)

=>then if I click run executable yes, another message pops up same as the first with lev+1 instead, and if I click run executable again then a line with Xivilai items not found pops up. Because of this I thought I might need to update Tamriel Data.

Is it ok to just install the new version of Tamriel Data through MO2 and delete the old version in my modlist while keeping my game in tact?

Is there a mod that allows you to respawn after death? Or to spawn the corpses of your other fallen characters?

I have a proof of concept for this ideas, but wanna know if such mods may already exist. And you can suggest a name for a mod that spawn bodies of you fallen characters, if I decide to publish it.

Morrowind Rebirth how to re-unbalance alchemy and enchanting.

Started playing Rebirth for the first time and while I play pretty vanilla, sometimes I just want to make a character to hop around half of Vvardenfell and rain down aoe fire bombs. Is there a way or a mod to add that back in. The rest of rebirth is awesome but I think half the fun of Morrowind is being able to absolutely take advantage of the systems that they so wonderfully put in.

I found a mod that claims to resolve enchanting called "rebirth enchanting unchanged", but alchemy I cant find a fix for. Usually I pump my Int with alc before doing any enchanting so not sure if "rebirth enchanting unchanged" actually fixed enchanting yet.

Phantom/Duplicate Map Locations

Does anyone know of a way to determine what mod is putting a marker on the map for a location? I have a couple of floating Solstheim markers on my map in the middle of the ocean which are just water when you go to them. I assumed that this was due to some leftover nonsense from the Anthology Solstheim/Anthology Tomb of the Snow Prince mods, but it's persisted across several new games now as I attempt to test the cause, but I've had no luck in actually removing the issue.

Fast Travel Crash

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced crashing when fast traveling? For example going from Seyda Neen to Gnsis or Suran? I'm trying to pin point the mod or texture pack that could be causing this. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Problem with Julan at Red Mountain.

So i reach the point where Julan decides he's ready for Red Mountain and we go there. But, after stopping at the gate and the Kill Dagoth Ur dialogue happens, Julan just refuses to move. If i interact with him the rest of the dialogue does happen (voices, I am the Nerrevarine, etc), and eventually he colapses and we wake up back at the Temple, but it's all happening while standing in front of Ghostgate. So it's not game breaking per se, but completely immersion breaking. Anyone have an idea why this happens?

I have to mention that i haven't started the Morrowind Main Quest yet, i decided to shoot the shit and do some side stuff before embarking on it. Could that interfere with Julan's scripting?

Looking for feedback on my hardcore mod

Hi, I'll get to the point.

I love this mod made by Remiros and uploaded by Flash3113 (https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45980)

To use my modification you need to replace his MWSE/mods/Equipment Requirements/main.lua
with the file in this pasteBin (https://pastebin.com/CMw1RqvQ)
--NOTE-- I updated all the weapon equipment requirement values I put it in THIS paste bin, this is MUCH better: https://pastebin.com/Cs65FFHe , it's just a list of weapons broken into categories and reasons as to why I chose those values, smooth curve to 40.

All credit to them.

I didn't think the mod went far enough, I'm level 4 on a pretty hardcore playthrough (will share mod list later) and because I focused on one arm weapons and strength I am wielding a glass sword. At level 4.
So I changed Remiros script to do two things:

  1. Up all the stat requirements by at 40% for weapons, and 50% for armors. This way you don't just ignore iron and chitin as you become a godly.
  2. I added my own Level requirement, so you may be capable of using that glass sword but you are 10 levels too low.

EXTRAS:

  1. Because I have DRIP and I like that mod I also put a severe penalty on anything DRIP makes, so that you need more levels and more stats than the base counterparts.
  2. I am using a variable to lower all level requirements by 4, so you will see that the lists may say iron claymore= 3 but in game you'll see iron claymore= 1 , If you don't like this change local levelAdjuster = 4 to local levelAdjuster = 0 (it works as negatives only, it adjusts down only)

I imagine that the main quest should be beaten around lvl 35/40 so I capped most things at 35/40 that is to say daedric stuff.

I'm sharing the script here (https://pastebin.com/CMw1RqvQ) in case anyone wants to test it, i'm going to make it a full mod (like this other ramiro's inspired mod https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/47813) soon.

Why?

Had an install of Morrowind GOTY set up through GOG. Not much going on top: MGE XE, Purist’s patch, Containers Animated then other small stuff. All was well. Today I have noticed Wrye Mash complaining about size mismatch of DLC .esms. Now, I did use tes3cmd_clean on them once, thought it’s recommended, why is it suddenly causing issues?

EDIT: nevermind, repaired my game and that fixed it)

General thank you to modding community

I have not made many mods myself yet, but I have found it to be the most enjoyable hobby I've ever had. Modeling new assets, quest design and writing, and especially scripting, making mods is extremely engaging and pulls in so many different skills.

With May Modathon 2024 around the corner, I want to say thank you to all the modders in advance. You have used these assortment of skills to bring new life and wonders to the game that probably very few other gaming communities see. And thank you to the players who download our mods.

It is the creativity of the community that gives me inspiration and the enjoyment of the players that gives me motivation. I look forward to making many more quest mods which add to Morrowind and add to our modding community.

Display Case Help Needed

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as Google is failing me spectacularly on this.

I create recolors all the time but I've never dealt with animations before (I'm the queen of static objects lol).

In Nifskope the recolored case animates fine. When I load the new .nif into the CS, the animation is lost. Even the "Add Animation File" button is grayed out. I have a copy of the .kf file from Tamriel_Data in the same folder as the mesh for the display case. Nifskope won't let me attach the .kf, presumably because it's already there given that it animates normally in Nifskope, but I also can't attached anywhere in the CS.

No matter what I search, or where, I cannot seem to find a tutorial that addresses animations otherwise static objects. I feel like an idiot as I assume it's probably super obvious & I'm just overlooking it. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Yes, I want runescape in a box on my pc.

Is there something like this? I thought that maybe there would be a texture setting in the graphics menu, but apparently not.

Morrowind Multiplayer?

So, how does using it with other mods work? I have a very extensive modlist, and I don't want to put my friends through the pain of downloading them all. Will they still be able to join my server without them and play in the added content? Or will they have to download them all?

Request: Looking for an animator to make a crawl animation

I am looking for someone to make some .kf files to replace the sneak animations.

I want it to look like the character is crawling on their hands and knees. (Example.)

If you can make the basic sneak .kf files, I can combine them into the primary.

I am thinking we need to replace only the forward and backward .kf files. The left and right might be ok leaving as is.
