Hi everyone! I'm a University student (1st year master's straight out of undergrad) who just got a summer internship in Redwood City! I know housing is extremely tough to find, so I'm open to living anywhere in the Bay if it's close to CalTrain/public transport that can get me to RWC pretty quickly (higher preference for closer places like Palo Alto).
I strongly prefer one bed or studio, but am open to more, although I'm not looking for roommates at the moment (I would likely find other interns for the same company). Housing in the bay is tough to come by, so please let me know of any leads or places you may know!
Hello, I am a male in my mid 20's looking for a room in a shared housing in or around Castro Valley.
I would prefer a private bedroom with its own bathroom but don't mind with just a private bedroom. I also would like to have access to the kitchen to make meals plus in unit laundry as well. I don't have a set budget so any room offers that fit the description would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am dealing with a mice infestation and need advice. I am considering asking my landlord to cover the rent for the past four weeks, as the place has been uninhabitable. Its on him that the pipe was left incorrectly sealed for the mouse to enter the unit. He had mentioned recent plumbing work around bathtub before I moved in.
Do you think requesting rent reimbursement is reasonable? Any advice on how to approach this with the landlord?
I moved into my rental apartment two months ago, and four weeks ago I saw the first mouse. Initially, I thought it entered when I left the door open for five minutes while moving things. I called a pest control company that night, and they came the next morning. They discovered the issue was an unsealed pipe in the bathroom, not the open door. The pipe was sealed, and traps were set, and I informed my landlord about the incorrectly sealed pipe and the situation. My landlord only offered to split the cost 50/50 when I asked for it.
Since then (four weeks), I've seen the mouse five times, but it avoided traps with peanut butter and cheese. I installed eight cameras to trace its movements and confirmed it chewed through the sealed area to hide in the bathroom. I sent all video evidence to my landlord, and he’s agreed to come tomorrow to reseal the area.
Thank you!
I agree that sharing a 1 bedroom apartment sounds like a terrible idea. Yet, after years of regular roommate situations and the noise, mess, food pilfering that often entails, I'm left wondering if there isn't a better way?
I have a fairly good deal right now, paying under 1,000 for a room with utilities and laundry included. But it's a moldy, dusty place and the roommate who shares my wall plays loud video games. No one ever cleans up the bathrooms. Dishes pile up in the sink. I can tolerate it but life would be much better living with a like minded person.
I'm 37 years old and I lead an active yet boring life. I coach sports and exercise every day, typically out of the house from 9-5. I never drink. I clean up after myself. I am very quiet. I listen to music/youtube with headphones. I go to bed early.
I like Lower Nob Hill because there are decent 1 bedroom apartments for 1,600-1,800. North of Post and East of Larkin, the area is convenient and nice. But I am open to other neighborhoods in S.F. I'm willing to live in the bedroom or the living room. Depending upon the layout of the apartment, if the total rent is 1,800, we might agree that the bedroom pays 1,000 while the living room pays 800.
If this sounds good and you think we are compatible roommates then feel free to reach out.
Hi! I’m a female in my late-20s, working in tech in Redwood City, and I'm looking for a roommate to find a 2 bed/2 bath apartment to share starting in January 2025. Ideally, I’d love to be in Redwood City, but I'm open to other nearby areas too!
I'm hoping to find a friendly, like-minded female roommate who likes to keep common areas clean. My budget is up to $1700 per person.
If you're interested or have any suggestions, please reach out!
Hey reddit community,
One of my roommates is moving out of our 3 bedroom, 2 full bath apartment in Russian Hill and we're looking for someone to take over. Our lease is month to month. Happy to send pictures on request. It's a bit of an older building (suppose almost everything is in Russian Hill) but quite a large unit, with a kitchen/living room, bedroom and bathroom upstairs; 2 more bedrooms (including this one for rent) and another full bath downstairs. Please feel free to DM! This is a street-facing bedroom for rent in Russian Hill, right on the Nob Hill border, starting December 1st!
Our contract is month to month basis, though ideally looking for longer term commitment (3+ months), and you’d be taking over a bedroom for one of our roommates who’s sadly moving overseas for work.
-Awesome location, 3 blocks from Washington Square Park, an easy walk to the Marina or Fidi, great MUNI access
-Bedroom on bottom floor of a 3 bed, 2 full bath unit, lots of privacy
-Large living room/kitchen
-Awesome views of Alcatraz and the Bay
-Incredible price for the area!
We’re a group of 13 fun, funny, adventurous mid-twenties to mid-thirties friends living in a huge 13-bed, 6.5-bath Victorian just off Divisadero in NOPA. We love life, each other, and San Francisco, and we’re always trying to make the most of our city and community. Moving into this house has been easily one of the best decisions of my life, and I’m heartbroken to be leaving. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Pros: you get 12 new friends, and then all of their friends; there’s always leftover food; you get greaaaat rent (being revised right now but within $20 of $1300); you’re under a 5 minute walk from a lot of the best stuff on Divis; you’ll never be lonely or bored, but you can still take time for yourself; we host cool stuff pretty often, from weekly dinners to the occasional Sunday brunch swing dancing party. Cons: you may end up having too much fun or creating incredibly deep friendships and then have to leave SF unexpectedly (🙋); you may be kept awake the next time the house hosts an unreal 300-person Halloween party; you might spend too much time admiring the view of the SF skyline from our back porch and be late for work. Room can come furnished! Message me if you have questions, or go have a look at our Notion post to learn more and apply:
