70mph down the highway is no problem. Replaced points, wires plugs , new fuel filter and a bunch of coolant and break fluid.
So I went to the property owners house today and knocked on the door. A man answered the door and a brief exchange occurred. He said it was his mother that owned the property and that people ask about the car every now and then and he isn’t interested in selling since it’s not his, but his uncle’s. This uncle supposedly lives in Florida, key west I think he said. He said that they had been storing the car for him for the last few years which sounds to me like horseshit cause that think looks like it’s been abandoned for decades at least not years.
Not sure where if anywhere to go from here. Maybe try to contact the uncle, maybe theirs a way to claim it as apparently abandoned property, I’m not sure, I’ve never discovered a barn find before. Sorry to disappoint guys.
There are at least 10-15 old cars in there, many 60s and 70s models in complete shape, but very dusty. If you're local, I'll drop a pin and maybe you can contact the owner.
No new pics yet, was working on getting it running today to no avail. Cannot for the llife of me get spark. I am getting the proper boltage everywhere have cleaned the points, my next step is to get new wires and a coil. May even put new points into it. The wires definitely need replaced, the coil is probably still good but it's a cheap part and easy elimination of issue. The points had corrosion on them and bi didn't look at the advance/retard plates yet but I'm sure there is correction there as well

Looks very complete and will be a great project for someone. Could be worth around 100k once restored.
1971 fargo 318ci auto 2wd Showing 1100 miles (assume it has been wrapped at least once lol) a couple rust spots but definitely fixable . I bought it from him for a really good price because I'm helping him clean the old farm site. Been parked since the late 80s
Inspection says 1994 so I'm going to assume that's around the last time this Gremlin ran.
It's got a new holley 1940 Carb, new fuel pump, filter, new oil, new plugs, condenser and points are new.
Points was set at 0.019
Timing may need to be adjusted. It's running at high rpm and hates any sort of throttle response. First time was a guesstimate as shown in the video.
After this I re adjusted to align the crank notch at TDC on the timing notches on the 258 block. And verified it maxed out with a screwdriver felt the piston topped out at TDC, adjusted distributor to where the #1 plug wire is and where the rotor stops. Haven't gone back out yet to test it after making those adjustments. I also turned down the idle screw on the holley
All of the restorations waiting to happen.
I myself am a huge fan of barn finds or any abandoned cars and want to restore any i find. Im trying to get my hands on anything for my first restore and car. I live in iowa and am wondering if anyone has any reports or know anyone who has an old car they would sell is abandoned.
