Are there any places to walk/jog at night? I work nights and would like a secluded but legal place to exercise at.
Reddit showed up and was a huge part in getting 700+ comments FOR the Marriage Equality constitutional amendments on the record last week. Many of you were unaware that there was such an easy way to have your voice heard and asked for future opportunities to be highlighted.
While the full bill hearing schedule can be found here, I've done my best to highlight some of the more impactful bills that progressive Nebraska Reddit may care to comment on:
📅 Deadline: Monday, Feb 3 (8 AM)
📝 Action: LB 698 would roll back portions of the the paid sick leave measure passed by 75% of Nebraska voters, exempting seasonal and temporary workers, as well as those under 16. Stand up for workers' rights and oppose this bill!
💻 Submit your comment here: LB 698 Comment Form
📅 Deadline: Thursday, Feb 6 (8 AM)
📝 Action: LB 509 is a rerun of the school voucher bill that Nebraskans already voted against. Lawmakers should respect the will of the people—say NO to private school vouchers!
💻 Submit your comment here: LB 509 Comment Form
📅 Deadline: Friday, Feb 7 (8 AM)
📝 Action: LB 89 is a discriminatory bill targeting trans individuals under the false pretense of protecting children. This bill does nothing to solve real issues—because there is no problem to fix. We need a strong opposition!

Hello I live in the Omaha area and am looking to buy food more locally to eat healthier and support local farmers. I don’t make much money however and am wondering if there are any local sustainable farmers or businesses that sell for a decent price and aren’t marketed as “trendy” with inflated prices like at the farmer’s market. Preferably in the midtown area.
Thank you to everyone in advance! <3
I plan to take a solo trip to Omaha after I graduate in May. I'm planning the last week of May (I think Tuesday 27th-30th or 31st). Here is my list of things to do so far:
Omaha Henrly Doorly Zoo and Aquarium (a fav of mine) Pedestrian Bridge (been on) Gene Leahy Mall/Riverfront in general (Also been to, back in May 2022, I think they were still doing construction to it)
Never been/contemplating going and would like to know what to expect/if it is solo friendly:
Lumiarium, Adult Night Old Market Speilbound (though can I go by myself and play with strangers?)
I always go to Jojos diner when I'm in Omaha, and though I'm not a huge foodie if you all have any hole in the wall fun destinations let me know about that too!
Am I missing anything I should do while there?
Hey yall! Saw a post about MAGA businesses to avoid (incredibly valid) but to be honest it would probably be quicker to make a list of pro-humanity businesses to support! Please drop recs of businesses worth our patronage during these god awful times. Block 16 feels like a safe place to start in terms of restaurants.
Know some will probably say "pics or didn't happen," but feel free to peak on my u/. I'm not new to reddit, or a bot. Some of yall might even think I'm rambing off my meds, but want to share.
Every Sunday evening I drive through south Omaha after dinner with family. I know the usual traffic on a Sunday night. Tonight was not a regular Sunday night. Traffic is heavier. People are eating in restaurants. Lots of folks at the gas station. Super Mercado is packed.
Super odd bit: fnbo's atm was DEEP. There had to be at least 8 cars waiting to take out cash. Also rolled by the Wells Fargo on 24th and L street. Cars waiting there too. Bmo on 24th st? There too. Really weird.
Hello! Looking for a hairdresser that I can go to, tell them to do what they think would look best for me, and I can trust they will do it well. Thanks!
Trying to avoid spending my money in the community at liberal businesses and only support republican hard workers.
Anyone know the name of the second comedian that opened for Raanan Hershberg?
We just bought an old house in the Florence area that still has cloth wiring, even some K&T (although it doesn't appear to be connected anymore, at least), and I'd love to get it all updated to current code. Not having any ground connections on most/all of our outlets doesn't give me a warm & fuzzy feeling. I can handle little things, but this is a good bit out of my realm of expertise.
Curious to see what recommendations folks have for decent electricians in the area. I've heard good things about Hiller or DC, and to stay the absolutely fuck away from Burton. Any other recommendations from the hivemind?
I'm traveling to Omaha for work and am planning a tattoo. What's the vibe on Black Squirrel? I got a quote that is fair but what are the artists like?
I’m looking to sell a variety of records from my collection and am looking for a place that will give me a reasonable price. I’m willing to take store credit, but again, within reason. I’m close to downtown, but am willing to travel as well.
Spotted on 90th and Pacific
I’m looking to be more selective in the businesses and restaurants I patronize. I’d like to know what places to avoid in the metro area.
I made my first visit to the Durham museum and came across one timeline describing a Mormon settlement of Florence north of the city and it later being annexed in the 70s. I didn't know this and am sort of surprised no one has described this when they were telling me about the city. I have lived here almost two years now. I'm not trying to be negative, just shocked. I mean there is a road named the Mormon bridge?!
Urban Abbey in Omaha is offering a free online education event on tracking bills in the unicameral. Here are the details:

Looking to source some compost for garden beds. Anyone have a favorite supplier in town? Wish I could compost, but I have two dogs who love smelly things
Trying to have fun on my last night here, where would you recommend a mid 20s man go?
5 Calls has a website with scripts that you can use to call your senators on a variety of topics. I called Ricketts, Fischer, and Bacon and left messages for each, all in 4 minutes time.
I know there’s a Steelers and Bills bar in Omaha. Seems like every other bar is a Chiefs bar. What other teams have a home bar for fans of that team to watch games? And where are they?
It’s weird, it shows up on Zillow and Facebook marketplace.
Why does Joslyn make the volunteer staff micromanage visitors. We just went and felt like we couldn’t do anything right. All the way down to leaving when I opened up the other door and was told to not use that as they only use one door…the same door that people were using to come in.
It’s a really great space and I’m grateful for Omaha to have it but I feel that the micromanaging makes me feel unwelcome.
