Does Lincoln have a Turkish community? Wanting to buy a handmade traditional Turkish Yorgan, and am not sure where to begin searching!
Thanks in advance!
I went to check out gauntlet games cause I heard they had bulk cards only to see that place was dead and looked like stuff was being moved out. I couldn’t find anything about a relocation anywhere on the door or online about them relocating. Anyways, if they’re closing is there anywhere I can get bulk Pokemon cards? I’m open to Omaha as well.
Just opened my ALLO bill and it’s increased by three dollars a month. Usually I get a letter from ALLO saying what’s going to happen. But this time … nada.
Has this happened to you all?
Hello!
I compiled all the comments on Forsaken_World_118's post from a few days ago into a master google excel list. In the list you'll find restaurants, bars, salons, stores, mental health therapists and more in Lincoln that "welcome and lift up women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, disabled individuals, accept ethnic diversity, and are not supporters of the current administration."
Feel free to add more businesses in the comments as I can update the list!
Here's the link to the list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vRH4wGD97xNNDuGfriUuhIwgvmQADK71Nx5PX5-ecnho2n1Pb5SelvUurQQrm-zuXgn3w7XaRdOwjg9/pubhtml
Hi! Brand new Reddit user here and thought this would be a good first post since not many people seems to know about this!
I recently learned that UNL offers really affordable individual, couple and family therapy to anyone in Nebraska, including non-students, with a sliding scale fee per session depending on your income level (mine is $20/session). It's at the Family Resource Center on East Campus, and the therapists are current graduate students getting the hours required to become fully licensed therapists. What's interesting is that while they are student therapists, they work on your case in tandem with an experienced therapist that holds a PhD, so you get really quality work for a great price. I believe you can call the Family Resource Center directly to get a price quote and appointment on the books.
With the ever increasing cost of living and plummeting mental health (due in part to the current events we are living through...), I wanted to plug this here so even those who normally can't afford talk therapy can get the help they need!
Hey Lincoln residents! I don’t know who needs to hear this but Costco sells Plan B emergency contraception for $6. You can purchase up to 2 boxes at a time. It also has a shelf life of 2 years. Just a little fact I thought I’d share. :)
DOes anyone reading know the rules about walking at the mall? Do you have to sign up or do you just show up and are able to go in and walk. I see they open at 7 am for walkers is all the info i could find. Thank you!
Does anyone know of any female Muay Thai teacher in Lincoln? I'm looking to get into it and would love to be taught by a female
Anyone know why there are police stopping traffic for a few blocks all around the capitol?
Hey, I’m gonna go to the library (UNL) to study and I was wondering if all meters take passport parking app? Or is it only on campus they have those lots? Any advice or tips help me because I always park in the garage.
We have decided to implement a monthly thread in which users can buy, sell, and advertise--breaking rules #1 and #2--so as long as it is contained within this thread.
Comments will be sorted by "new" by default.
Use this thread to:
* List items OR services that you are attempting to sell. While not required, you are encouraged to list the price(s) you are requesting.
* Solicit items OR services you are in search of or in need of. Again, while not required, you are encouraged to list a price you're comfortable paying.
* Advertise anything and everything, so as long as it is still relevant to Lincoln--promote a concert for your new local band, advertise a sale your local shop is having, etc.
We don't anticipate too much traffic or comments on this thread, but wanted to make it available to those who might enjoy or benefit from having it.
Lastly, if you do ultimately pursue offers posted here, PLEASE be aware that scams are rampant. Help protect yourself by following some of these (personal) recommendations.
Do NOT:
* Accept a personal check, ever. Or a money order or cashiers check that you were not present for when the individual purchased/obtained it.
* Use an electronic app to transfer funds. This includes, but is not limited to, Venmo, Cashapp, PayPal, Zelle, etc. While this seems easiest, it's **incredibly easy to get screwed over** with people sending you funds that they don't actually have.
DO:
* Accept **only** cash for smaller/medium purchases. For larger purchases, insist that you meet the individual at their bank and be present while the bank verifies and issues a cashiers check right there, on the spot.
* Meet in a public place. For example, if you're buying a phone, there's no better place to complete the transaction than inside of a Verizon or T-Mobile store.
Let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Have a great month!
I need to get both my dog and cat rabies vaccines in May and can't afford the $60 office visit for each of them plus their vaccines. Does anyone know where I could go for less? I've been going to Pitt's for years, but ever since Terry Pitt's retired it seems like their prices have doubled. 😔
What about pet insurance? Is there anything out there that's good and reasonable? I know, I ask a lot...lol. My dog is 12 and my cat is 13 and I think because of their age, they aren't insurable. Help!!!
Is it just me or is every chipotle in town skimping on portion sizes?
Hey!! In a time of political turmoil, I wanted to share a supportive service for anyone wanting to put their relationship down on paper. My husband and I are ordained through Universal Life Church and would be more than happy to help politically at-risk couples get married pro bono. Please reach out if you’re interested! ☺️
Edit: to be more clear this is absolutely meant to be inclusive 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Looking for recommendations for Gastrointestinal doctor to treat h. Pylori. Any recommendations or who to avoid?
I am hoping to interview Lincoln families with children to better understand the need for organizing services in this demographic. I was wondering if anyone who would be open to a quick phone interview or know of local groups I could get in touch with? Being from out of state means I don't have a web of 30 people to get in touch with so looking for any help that I can get!
The interview is just a few quick questions and takes no more than 10 minutes over the phone. If you or someone you know would be open to participating, I’d truly appreciate it!
Any bars show WWE or may have the Royal Rumble up? Would love to watch with other fans.
Did this mall used to have an inside, like a real mall? Did it used to have a different name? I have memories of it, but went there and it isn't the same. I remember a lot of brick on the inside.
I got up early this morning for some physical activity (humble brag) so hadn’t had breakfast yet. I came to the South street D’Leon’s for a chorizo special burrito with scorching hot chilies torreados inside and their delicious salsa. It was a huge, cheesy, gooey, wonderful and horribly unhealthy mess. So good.
Stealing the topic from other cities’ boards, what would people consider Lincoln’s most MAGA owned or aligned businesses?
🏳️🌈 Nebraska friends! If you consider yourself an ALLY, here’s one super simple but incredibly important thing you can do— but it needs to happen TODAY! 🏳️🌈
🏛️ Did you know Nebraska’s Constitution STILL defines marriage as only between a man & a woman? This outdated amendment was passed in 2000, long before our society evolved to embrace equality.
💍 Of course, this was overturned in 2015 by the Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. But Supreme Court rulings can change, and with recent political shifts, there’s concern that marriage equality could be at risk.
⚖️ GOOD NEWS: Nebraska has TWO constitutional amendment resolutions that can fix this outdated language! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
📅 The hearing is TOMORROW (Jan 31) at 1:30 PM— but you can submit your online comment TODAY to show support!
📢 Here’s how you can help in just 5 minutes:
✅ LR5CA – Removes outdated language restricting marriage to only a man & woman. (Submit as a PROPONENT / FOR) 🔗 Submit your comment here: https://nebraskalegislature.gov/bills/view_bill.php?DocumentID=59576
✅ LR6CA – Recognizes marriages regardless of gender or race and updates language. (Submit as a PROPONENT / FOR) 🔗 Submit your comment here: https://nebraskalegislature.gov/bills/view_bill.php?DocumentID=59414
💬 Your comment can be short & sweet: 👉 “I support this amendment, please vote YES.” 💖 Or you can share a personal story about why this matters to you.
📩 IMPORTANT: After submitting, you’ll get an email. Click the link inside to verify your comment, or it won’t count!
🙌 Let’s make this reach as many people as we can. Please feel free to copy & paste and share with your networks. 💜💙💚💛🧡♥️
Hi y’all. When making a post informing us about a forthcoming protest, is it possible to make the post days in advance? I’ve missed the last two protests and I would’ve gone if I saw the posts sooner.
The so called "Stand With Women" act directs all state agencies to systematically discriminate against trans and gender nonconforming people. It is nothing short of an attempt to eradicated trans and GNC folks from the state of Nebraska.
There will be a hearing on the bill Friday Feb. 7th at 1:30pm in room 1507. Show up and stand up for the trans and GNC folks who are being targeted with the full force of the state. We are in danger. We need your help.
From the bill:
Sec. 8. Each state agency in the adoption and promulgation of administrative rules and regulations, the enforcement of administrative decisions, and the adjudication of disputes by administrative agencies shall define a person's sex as such person's biological sex, meaning either a male or female.
