New here, a little nervous though

So I just got Reddit today, but I need help with privacy. I’ve heard you can get private message requests from unknown people, and I don’t feel comfortable talking with people I don’t know. So if there are any privacy settings, please let me know :)

Automaticly liking my own comment?

why every time i comment, reddit automaticly likes my own comment? so all my comments have at least one like, unless i manually tap away ”my own” like/upwote.

What would be your first suggestion for someone who has just joined Reddit?

I just joined Reddit and I can't share in some places. My posts are deleted directly. What had I better do? I don't want my account to be banned.

Email Notifications and how to disable them

I’m slowly starting to understand karma points and other things thanks to this page! However, if someone replies to one of my comments, I get an email notification. Maybe it’s right in front of my eyes but I can’t figure out how to disable that feature, any advice??

I upvoted a person for being really helpful, but my upvote did not register. Why is this?

So, I just noticed this. On a different sub I asked for some advice and several members were really helpful so I upvoted their comments. But then I noticed that when I went back, all my upvotes did not take. Is this because I am new or something? Can newbies not give upvotes? I thought since I could create a post and comment on that sub, I could upvote too, but it seems not. This is really confusing.

How do I post in Reddits that require karma?

I'm new to Reddit and for whatever reason when I try and post to the 3d printing Reddit they require you have karma.. It looks like this might be the only place I can post? That's a slight issue because well.. 3d printing isn't very mainstream.. Well if any of you can help, what can I do to preventy dragon UHF hotend from clogging haha? I don't know if I should just get a new hotend or not and figured I'd ask around before giving up on it.

New to Reddit and just moved to nyc

I’m so new to Reddit I don’t even know any of the rules. Actually I’ve been on Reddit long time ago but I never actually used it to post anything I wasn’t even aware of the rules regarding karma lol! So I typed this long post sharing my experience with certain organizations and wanted to start a discussion regarding paid social clubs in NYC as I literally just moved here. The second I posted it got deleted by the bot saying I’m not qualified to post lol oh well guess I’m gonna have to earn my stripes first. Really looking forward to sharing and contributing more Thanks! Excited to meet you all

Question about earning karma

Does one upvote equal one karma? And one downvote is a negative karma? I’m confused as to how it works and why when I comment I don’t automatically get a karma even though it shows upvoted. Thanks!!

Can't connect to Reddit message

Hey all, do some Reddit threads crash sometimes? I tried posting earlier to a page and kept getting "can't connect to Reddit" but a couple hours later I was able to make the post? I am just wondering why I this was?

Quick question for Mod about email message from Reddit?

Hi Mod I’m not sure where to find my answer I didn’t see anything in the Q&A section. Anyway, I just got a message asking me to add my Email/PW and then retrieve the message in my email box…. Is this normal for reddit or something else? If it’s normal how often does this happen?

Thanks in advance
