I know that standard 1/4" bits are recommended for anything that needs doing up tighter than a few Nm. But out of people that have used both 4mm bits in a multitool (e.g. Victorinox cybertool) and the leatherman slim bits, which round out quicker? Which are more of a pain to swap out?
What’s the best first multitool to invest in? Right now I’m in between the Leatherman Free P2, Swisstool Spirit Mx Clip, or Wave plus.
Looking to get my first MultiTool to start carrying every day. Let me know what you would pick and why.
Giving my nephew a multitool this Christmas -- with my sisters permission and looking for feedback. I haven't really fallen down the multitool rabbit hole yet, though I use them frequently. A Skeletool lives in my backcountry repair kit, Gerber MP600 in my patrol vest, and a SAK Sportsman lives on my desk or in my pocket most the time.
He is 12. Lives in the country (e.g. drives a small tractor around to help with maintenance / yard stuff / playing in the woods) but generally suburban lifestyle. Always interested in fixing stuff -- helped me rig up a kayak on my last visit.
Torn between going with Leatherman for being that long lasting, burly tool. Something like a Rebar or Curl? Advantage here is general stoutness, good pliers, and lets face it, the cool factor. Or a SAK like the Hiker or Fieldmaster. Easier to pocket, less "knife" stigma in it's friendly red packaging, great durability.
What route would you? What am I overlooking?
I have one of the knife/scissors/file/tweezers micro Swiss Army knives and I love it, but I'd like something with a little more oomph and pliers/screwdriver(s) for everyday life use. Still needs to fit in my pocket though, and I really don't need a ton of awls and files and saws and all that jazz.
I've seen from posts on here that there's not a lot of options in between keychain size and full pliers size. Is there something older I'm not aware of that can be had from Ebay? Do I sacrifice the pliers and buy a Swiss Army Super Tinker? Sacrifice the bigger blade and buy a Gerber Dime?
Budget is about $50, I'm willing to consider more but there's a healthy chance it will get lost or put through the washing machine so I'm not looking to splurge on a really nice tool.
Does anyone know what types of bolts are used to hold together their multitools? A lot of multitools seem to use Torx T8 or T10 (Leatherman) but are these 2mm bolts in a 3mm ‘female bolt’? Where can you find them (uk)?
Does anyone have a good recommendations for a multitool that has a knife that locks other than a liner or slip lock. Ideally it would be an axis, button, or lever lock. I am much more comfortable with those types of locks but have never seen a multitool that incorporates it. Thanks in advance!
I’m looking for the smallest multitool I can find. It needs to have a blade/knife, Phillips and flat head. Anything else is a bonus. It would be used for pretty light work. I’m liking the look of the Roxon M4 and Roxon KS2 Elite.
gf wanted to use it and it ended up like this
Tried searching but no luck, anybody got tips on how to reassemble it properly?
Hi all I'm looking for a small multi-tool less than 4.5'' long when closed I've been looking at the Nextool mini sailor and the roxon ks2e pliers aren't really a requirement but I do want the tools to be openable without nails as I need mine very short.
Does anyone know where I can find a replacement blade for this SOG? It looks like the serrated blade is what broke off. Any help is appreciated.
Seems I can’t get all three. I have a gerber and a leather man but the knives on them aren’t the best. I like the skeletool but there aren’t pliers. Suggestions?
Picked this Gerber Suspension NXT up the other week and just opened it up. I was checking it out when I noticed the scissors are the wrong side of the spring. Can’t for the life of me figure how to get the blade to the left of the spring so I can use them. Am I dumb or is this a mistake when it was put together?
Looking for the best multitool for use on sites that don't allow traditional knives. Need the biggest/strongest scissors instead, along with the usual multitool utility (especially the pliers). It's OK if the tool still has a knife on it, just need the scissors for actual use on site.
Hi all,
One side of my 'tool x' is so stiff that I can't get the tools out using my nails.
Some rust has formed between the tools at the base (see picture for location).
I have tried cleaning the tool by soaking it in white vinegar, moving it and applying thin mineral oil between it.
Whilst the other side is nice and smooth now, this side is still stuck.
Does anyone have any ideas in how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
Opening the philips screwdriver releases a lever to put the other tools in. Quite cool design
I have my House key, car key and small wallet keychain. I have a wave i keep in my car with the extra bits and extender but want something to carry around and it's a bit heavy. I wear gym clothes every day so I like to keep everything together. I see Amazon has it on sale right now.
I also see the Gerber dime. How is it if not the skeletool?
Any other suggestions if not these?
Hey folks! Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. I've got the slightly tricky task of making a leather case for a Leatherman Surge, but without access to the tool. I've looked online and found the dimensions as 115 x 41 x 21 mm. The tool isn't a perfect cuboid, more of coffin shape. I'm particularly interested in the width: listed as 41 mm. Can anyone advise if this is at the narrowest or widest part of the tool? Even better if you could give me all four dimensions in my diagram above (in millimetres). Thanks again folks!
Loving this 2 new tools from Roxon. Very well built and feels solid. I hv a few other multitools from Leatherman, Swisstool and Bibury. I would say Roxon is on par with Leatherman. Swisstool is another level. Am glad i waited and get this instead of Goat multitool.
Don’t know the exact model but here’s my Gerber Multitool that my dad gave me almost 20 years ago and I still use it all the time.
Hey guys. I pre-ordered a Flex Companion on Oct 31. I can't recall what ship date they were estimating at the time. The product page now says Nov 30 but I'm not sure if that's what it was when I placed my order.
Anyone know if that's when they expect to ship all pre-orders? I thought I remembered it being a little sooner than that.
Has anybody seen a comparison of the various Daicamping tools? They seem to be frequently recommended but can’t find a comparison of the various models anywhere.
