When is edge going to force MV3?
Asking because it seems like my adblock stopped working this week.
I FINALLY FOUND IT GUYS!!
- No more extension pain that takes some time to load
- No more back and forth with your edge settings
- No more Regedit manual configurations
It's a policy setting issue.
A) You need your browser to have the "managed by your organization" flag
B) You need to add the "new tab" shortcut in your registry
All of this have been made easy thanks to Gunnar Haslinger registry files.
All you have to do is to download this single zip file:
https://hitco.at/blog/wp-content/uploads/EdgeChromium-Fake-MDM-Provider-Policies.zip
And install:
1- MDM-FakeEnrollment-Win10 (this will give the managed by your organization flag) WITHOUT THIS, NOTHING WILL WORK
2- And either the mandatory or recommended version (I went with the recommended one) (and no you don't need both installed)
This will get the issue gone and fixed FOREVER.
Now a couple of things that I'd recommend you manually edit the files above (mandatory or recommended) with notepad and just turn off these settings as I "personally" find them handy to keep:
# "ShowHomeButton"=dword:00000001
# "RestoreOnStartup"=dword:00000004
# "ImportPaymentInfo"=dword:00000000
# "ImportHistory"=dword:00000000
# "ImportSavedPasswords"=dword:00000000
# "ImportOpenTabs"=dword:00000000
# "ImportAutofillFormData"=dword:00000000

# "ImportSearchEngine"=dword:00000000
# "ImportShortcuts"=dword:00000000
# [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\Recommended\RestoreOnStartupURLs]
# "1"="https://hitco.at/blog/"
# "2"="https://hitco.at/pictures/"
Now here's how my final "recommended" file look like:
(And yes I turned it into an all-in-one file, so you only need to copy the text below into "file.reg" and install it and your problem will be fixed)

YOU ARE WELCOME!
Here's a link to buy me a coffee if this helps you in anyway!
I've been experiencing this issue for around a month. Edge freezes for 5-6 secs every couple of minutes. So in order to figure out, I observed Task Manager and got to know that whenever Edge tries to use more than 10% of cpu capacity, edge freezes for a short moment to lower the cpu usage.
I tried shutting down eco mode on Edge by adding "--disable-features=UseEcoQoSForBackgroundProcess" to property when starting up Edge, so on the Task Manager Edge doesn't work on the eco mode but still has the issue.
I have a few doubts on things like recent resetting whole windows or update in Nvidia but quite not sure. Do anyone has similar issue on Edge browser and solution for this?
I'm trying to delete my cookies, but every time I select 'delete all cookies' it takea me to my profile screen and doesn't delete them.
I see a ton of posts in this sub nitpicking appearance or rare bugs, but the Ctrl+Tab behavior is by far the most glaring omission in what is an otherwise good chromium browser.
I know that on Windows your most recent few tabs are shown in the Alt+Tab switcher, but as a multi platform, multi browser user I just can't adapt to that workflow.
I have just downloaded Edge on MacOS. Two notification banners appeared. The first was normal, then the above one was below. What is it for? Should I allow these notifications too?
Thanks
My shortcuts from previous ID (outlook) are there
but on switching to another ID (gmail) they're gone
Can I bring them back somehow?
I get this pretty frequently surfing reddit - often when I play videos - but randomly also.
I have smart screen and all the related settings off, but it still shows up.
Anyone know how to troubleshoot/solve?
I have two PCs. On my desktop I can see there are 16 pins but on laptop it only shows 10. Also the order is different between devices. Vivaldi and chrome syncs these settings flawlessly. How do I do that on Edge?
I'm using Windows.
Edge keeps closing every type I type 'e' on my physical keyboard. When I open it back up, it always says it closed unexpectedly and asks me to restore my tabs.
I tried restarting my PC. I can copy and paste 'e', and I can type 'e' using the on screen keyboard without an issue. I can also type 'e' with my phys keyboard on Chrome without that browser closing. I also went on the Advanced touch gestures setting built into Windows and typed 'e' to see if the macro recorder saw that my keyboard was inputting some kind of hotkey, but it just said 'e'.
Can someone help me fix this issue?
I'm pretty sure there used to be a confirmation mini window popup when downloading something. Cannot find it anywhere to enable it.
Greetings,
Microsoft wallet saved all my passwords without my consent. I am deeply disappoint with this. I used a specific app Bitwardern to manage all my passwords, passkeys, and log in information. I have more than 800 login information and passwords in microsoft wallet that I want to delete. Can you please guide me on how can I delete these saved passwords without clicking 800 times?
Suddenly I tried opening a file and it kept giving me this message
Why is this browser such a memory hog?
It freezes both my M1 Macbook Air and M1 Mac Mini. If I leave the browser open and let the computer sleep and then come back, it's completely frozen on both machines.
I want to use Edge but I just can't anymore. Why do developers always ruin everything?
How do I disable this annyoing pop up? It happens frequently when I open MS Edge. Very annoying, how do I dsiable it?
Antes eu clicava no ícone do "perguntar ao copilot" e ele já me sugeria perguntas sobre o PDF. Agora de uma semana pra outra simplesmente não consigo mais, alguém sabe o porque?
Because of this feature, I cannot back out of clicking on a link without having to reach for the keyboard
Earlier, if I clicked on a link I decided I didn't want to visit, I could just move my mouse elsewhere without releasing the right mouse button and it wouldn't open the link anymore. Now, it opens the link anyway
I have installed stylish and a theme for whatsapp. it works fine but the problem is the extension do not work on the sidebar apps like whatsapp in the sidebar of edge. so i wanted to ask do extension not work on the sidebar apps? or is there any workaround do make sure they work on the sidebar as well?
Hello, sorry if this is the wrong Reddit to ask this in, but Im writing a reaserch paper about polution and I want to find the yearly average polution in a certain area.
I found this map from Microsoft Edge which is perfect for my investigation, the only problem is that it only displays air polution of wahtever day it is today and I want past data on air polution. If I could get an average of yearly polution that would be even better.
Here is the link to the website: https://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/maps/airquality
If anyone could help me out I would really really appreciate it!
Is there a way to fully unround edge? Like some sort of settings, maybe an extension or editing a file in the edge folder? I want my edge to look smth like this:
Also is there a way to remove the grey frame around the titlebar?
I recently installed the app and I notice it doesn't consume battery a lot on my mobile phone, well I mean it only consume 3-6% unlike the Microsoft Edge (not beta) consume like 30%+ so I would like thoughts or opinion. Thanks!
