I accidentally deleted a bookmark folder on Edge. How to I get it back? Account sync is on, and I found the bookmark files but when I opened it, it was just code. How can I restore them?

I have a pretty niche issue, but it's annoying because it's part of a very inefficient workflow for my job. I frequently copy and paste large sections of text from PDF files and paste them into Word. When I use Edge for this, it pastes words that are broken up by a hyphenated line break with a space in the middle. For example, if the word "jumping" was at the end of one line and there's a hyphen in the middle of it to spread the word to the next line, it would paste as "jump ing."

In Chrome, I don't have this problem, and "jump-ing" pastes as "jumping" without issue. I switched over to using Edge for everything recently, but I still have to go back to Chrome for this one use, which is annoying.

I have tried disabling the "New PDF" flag, and that resulted in an empty box symbol being pasted instead of the empty space, but that's really the only thing I've tried to solve it so far. Not really optimistic that there's some setting or something I might be able to change that would fix it, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Is there any way to get this to paste the way it does in Chrome, or is this a losing battle?

So, I tried to create a Facebook account. When I wrote a false name in the sign-up form, the thought that it was bad enough for the Meta AI to suspend my account for false information had me ask Copilot to think of a name, and it gave me the one I had already put on the list. When I asked where did it got it, responded that it had generated it.

If Edge, and Microsoft by extension, can read my sign-in data so freely, What stops them from storing it? and what about all the other things I write, like this one, Could it be linked to my private person using cache?.

I don't have any coding experience, so sorry if I can't provide information about the logs or something.

Anyone have insane memory usage on edge with certain basic tabs taking up 2-3gb of memory??

I noticed this issue on multiple of my computers, if I never restart edge and just let it be in the background all the time, the memory usage will eventually skyrocket and use insane amount of memory (20gb+) and lag everywhere.

looking at browser task manager I see some basic google pages using 1-3gb of memory on its own.

Is there a memory leak issue on Microsoft edge?? what's going on here? It didn't use to do this.

Gmail tab taking 1.5gb of ram and a google search using 1.5gb of ram

Can anyone help me figure out why this PWA continually displays this mark? It's the Google Messages PWA. It does show the correct message number when one comes in but after that it'll pop back to this star. It only goes away if I open and close the "app" a few random times in a row. Any help? This is driving me bananas. This does not happen on Chrome.

hi everyone, I can't seem to find the answer after searching but I am not using chrome anymore and want to use Edge full time but one of the features I use a lot is remote desktop from my MacBook and connect to my windows pc with the chrome remote desktop app.

I Saw After My Laptop Suddenly Got Switched Off and Then Turned On, There’s Microsoft Copilot in Its Original Past Form. Have They Gone Back? Have They Done the Great Work?

When I say recent searches, I mean when I type in the space for a URL and it gives me a bunch of different things that I might be typing for or lets me select a website I frequent that I'm trying to get to without typing the entire thing. In the video, it just lets me type into the search bar, but nothing pops up under the bar. Is there a setting I toggled off or something?

Edit: I do realise it auto finishes when I'm typing in part of a website URL, but to clarify, there should be multiple boxes underneath the search bar. This might be really obvious, but I thought I was a little unclear.

Haven’t used Edge in awhile. For downloads, there used to be an option when I right click it called “always open files of this type”.

This option no longer shows. Any way to fix it?

On chrome I have that option when I right click downloaded files.

Has a anyone experienced the computer freezing for 1-2 secs after exiting Microsoft Edge? Like the cursor won't move as if it bottlenecked the CPU.

I can't tell which version from where it started but It's been happening since at least last Spring/Summer and I'm always up to date on the Release Channel.

It's annoying considering Microsoft promises we can do most duties on Edge (PDF Reader, Outlook, PWAs, etc).

Edit: I've tried to reset it to default settings, remove all extensions, clear all data, reinstall. Tried closing just one tab or multiple tabs with different of sorts of webpages. I could reproduce it nearly every time.

Edit2: This only happens with MS Edge. Not with Chrome or Woolyss' Chromium. My system is a laptop running Windows 11 with an AMD 5900HS, a RTX 3050Ti and 16GB RAM.

Bei mir lassen sich leider keinen neuen Widgets unter Windows 11 hinzufügen. Der Bereich der Widgets ist bis auf einen Hinweis, das ich über das + Symbol Widgets hinzufügen könnte, leer. Wenn ich nun auf das + klicke erscheint eine schwarze Fläche mit Ladesymbol, in welcher sich jedoch auch nach längeren Warten nichts zeigt.

Windows und Edge sind auf dem neusten Standund, Windows web experience ist installiert und ebenfalls aktualisiert. Neustart und das Schließen der Widgets im TaskManager blieben ohne Erfolg.

Hat jemand eine Idee woran das liegen könnte und was ich noch probieren könnte?

There have been temporary solutions provided by some people but for me, none of them worked.

I would like to know if there have been new solutions that I haven't read of so that I can finally fix this issue on my side. I don't understand why it's only happening on this browser.

Hi everyone,

Apparently I need to use Internet Explorer to access a website for work as Edge doesn't work. I looked online which said that I can toggle Internet Explorer compatibility in the default browser tab. However, I can't see the option on my version.

Has anyone found a way to alter the default "home page" that comes up when browsing InPrivate mode? The search settings for default search engine and default address bar search engine don't apply to InPrivate windows. TIA

I cant even remember them all, but there are so many things ive disabled related to ads and privacy

if edge came the way I currently have it by default, I think most peoples impression of it would be much better.

it has soooo many things you need to disable if you dont want to give it data or let it give you random sponsored ads.

I have Edge configured to not allow extensions to run in the background, but Edge still ends up being 92% of my laptop battery usage, with a significant portion of that in the background. Is there any way to prevent the background portion of that usage?

Hi. Anyone seen this on IoS, when translating a page if there are drop downs (combo boxes) the text in those is not sites slated, in fact the options are basically removed and it’s totally empty.

Having major issues with this when trying to fill out web forms ;(

Does Edge have extension history stored anywhere? In terms of extensions that were installed and/or removed? we lost some very specific extensions due to us not realizing we were signed into another device with the same Microsoft account and thought we were only removing extensions from that other device.

I've installed a bunch of tab limiters on Edge, but for some reason they stop working when I open a new blank tab or window. They give me a warning, but the page stays open. I try to limit my tabs to 5, but now I can just go on and on opening new windows and tabs. Again, it's not even one extension with this issue, it's all of them, and across multiple PCs. Does anyone know he fix or an extension that actually works? because I feel like I tried everything from Chrome and Edge's extension pages.

Edge is a wonderful browser and I have been using it for almost a decade, but I eventually transferred to Firefox, and make Edge a backup choice in case of something goes wrong with Firefox.

I'm a heavy dark mode user, my laptop is always in dark mode in my daily usage. Every time when I open Edge, it welcomes me with a blinding white flash, which is really an eyesore to me and totally unacceptable. As I remember, Firefox once also had this issue, but they fixed it, and that's why I decided to use Firefox as my primary browser.

If this problem is fixed on Edge someday, perhaps I will come back to Edge.
