Hello,
I'm experiencing an issue with my Surface Laptop Studio 2 that I hope someone here can help me with. Whenever Windows Studio Effects and GeForce Experience (or related services) are running simultaneously, my system occasionally freezes and then crashes with a blue screen.
Despite these efforts, the problem persists. Has anyone else encountered this issue or have any suggestions on how to fix it?
anyone picking up anything interesting? there's some pretty cool magnetic privacy screens (prob same screen by different vendors it seems). lots of docks. lots of power supplies. some dirt cheap BT keyboards. lots of pens (if you're going third party, the renaisser pens are good).
Hey all! I've long been considering getting a new SSD for my SP8 but never managed to find a Kioxia BG4 for a decent price. Now with Amazon Prime days, I found a Sharkspeed B0BPSB2FSD SSD, Gen3x4 for €85 - imho a great price. Does anyone here have any experience with this ssd? The reported specs are seemingly on-par with the Kioxia, anyone used this card?
So I used the Surface Pro 4 until it died recently. With Amazon prime day, I was able to score the Surface Pro 9 for a good deal.
My question now is, if the new Surface can support the first generation pen. I still have it from the Pro 4 and it works perfectly fine so I really don't wanna buy a new generation pen.
My Surface Laptop all of a sudden stopped booting after a Windows update
It will turn on, show the Windows logo and then not start or keyboard doesn't respond (even though it works) or start screen will show but won't let me type in a PIN
I can go into UEFI mode by pressing Power + Volume up key.
Any suggestions? My warranty is over sadly
I have a surface pro 9 and I recently came back from a trip and my laptop was dead so I decided to charge it and turn it on, however when I did it just flashed a slightly brighter color but never went past that. So I held the power button down to restart it, but now the screen is just black, is there anything I could do?? Any help?? This is a new laptop as well only being used for 3 months
I just found out that other Snapdragon X Elite devices have Presence Sensing capabilities due to the new camera and tech in the Snapdragon chips.
Unfortunately this feature doesn't show on my Surface Pro 11. I wonder why and if we might end up getting support?
I'm trying to find out more about the heating and cooling of the Surface Laptop 7.
I'm coming from a Galaxy Book 3 that feels like it can burn my hand when I touch the device on the top of it. It runs between 80 and 95c when gaming.
I'm not buying the Surface Laptop to game. But I'm wanting a laptop that can maintain lower temperatures (maybe stay 80c or lower) when under heavy load.
The Surface Laptop 7 appears to be 47c on the bottom of the chasis. According to reviewers it tends to be about 7 or 8 degrees Celsius warmer compared to the HP Omnibook and others like the Samsung. People like JustJosh are saying it gets hot for pretty much any productive task and we're hearing it gets pretty warm.
Basically. It seems like this is just as warm as Intel if not more.
Can people share their experiences? Maybe temperatures your seeing for the cpu? Or the bottom of your computer?
I'm trying to figure out if they just built a laptop with worse cooling than everyone else. Or maybe they just need to tweak some software. Any advice would help. Thanks!
Hello! I preordered myself the cheapest SP11 available, I'm originally coming from using a SP3 and I've been happy with the performance aside from this weird locking in succession issue? Like, I will be typeing something or not even touching my keyboard and it will lock or rapidly lock when I try to unlock it- it looks like the lock screen but it's temporary (requires no pin) and when I touch/slide it, the screen goes away
I initially was web searching it & found that possibly it's a proximity sensor issue? I can't quite nail down what's causing it, I also disabled the front and rear cameras- to see if it was trying to lock when I looked away?
On the proximity search, there's also something called presence sensing? But microsoft's guide on how to find those settings appear to be outdated despite being of this year
For background context my Bluetooth gear that I use with my surface is a off brand keyboard, the Brydge keyboard that's meant for smaller models + the surface pen 2 & a bluetooth numpad, there's no case on my sp11 as of now & I have not installed the screen protector yet
I thought maybe the keyboard pressing into the touch screen was causing issues but they persist after detaching it? I can go periods of time where this issue does not pop up, but then it does so it's been puzzling for me and now I am reaching out for help!
Was following this video to get my pro 3 to get W11: https://youtu.be/dpXzbSnrtxk?si=IeumSugaw1-pk8pm
It worked, however when I made the registry edit it seems I am experiencing overheating issues possibly? Like when I first made that registry edit and restarted my surface to go ahead and boot into USB which has windows 11, it overheated before I began installation windows 10
So I don't think w11 is the issue nor its the registry key but its likely this surface pro is near its end life and the fan/thermal paste needs a replacement?
New Surface Laptop 7.
Randomly going to sleep while doing any activity. Have to press power button to correct.
Anyone else with random sleep?
Hey hey, could get the config in the title. Its brand new - 900€. I know by any means its not really up to date but come on... its the good old SB design language. So 100€ just alone for the design as a fanboy ...
I just run Office and maybe some light video editing on it.
Could there be a problem with the battery Just from laying around in a warehouse for 4 years?
I remeber these devices are kinda heavy, right? Need to take it with me three times a week. Are they too big for being used in an airplane?
What do you think about it?
title - i'm thinking about buying the new surface pro but because of its arm architecture, i'm uncertain if the software i want it to run has compatibility issues or not.
i'd be glad if someone can tell me if it runs, and how it performs. the trial is free and can be downloaded here:
https://www.aseprite.org/trial/
if you're concerned, it's also on steam, but unfortunately not the trial: https://store.steampowered.com/app/431730/Aseprite/
it's my favourite drawing tool so it would be really great if i could use it on an awesome device!
My surface is dead after I tried to open it to clean the fans. I don't really care about it that much, but I'd like to be able to use the screen. Is there any way I can repurpose this into a monitor?
I've compared SL7 15" to 13" in the shop and the 15" my face looks more red. Same position and lighting
Has anyone had the same issue?
(The SP11 looks amazing but I'm tempted to change my mind for the larger battery)
Hi, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of the new Microsoft Surface. According to my research, it was supposed to be released on June 16, 2024. However, when I try to order it from the Microsoft website, I only see a "coming soon" button.
Do you have any information on the actual availability date or when it might be possible to place an order?
Hi all, I'm contemplating selling my Macbook and iPad and getting a Surface Pro 11 instead, but I'm interested in any experiences others have had with either this specific trade or owning a surface in general. I used to be entrenched in the Apple ecosystem but I'm moving away from it and no longer have an iPhone.
My main uses seem to be well within the surface's uses. It would be a secondary device (to a windows desktop) which I want to use to work on the go. I don't need this all the time but occasioanally need to work when away or just things like being able to go and work in a coffee shop etc. My main uses are mainly office suite & digital note taking and some media consumption (mainly Sky Go and Youtube.. occasionally Netflix etc). It seems I could install most of these websites as apps and get a similar(?) experience to apps, albeit maybe worse quality/being unable to download shows on some apps.
My motivations behind changing from the apple devices are that I feel like I don't really use either enough to justify keeping them, as my uses for both are kind of split between them. Also another use I would get is as a second screen (either directly or using Mouse Without Borders) appeals so I can have reddit/youtube/guides up whilst playing games.
My worries/questions:
Are there things I'm missing? Any big annoyances? I understand the app limitations on ARM but I can't think of much I do where this would be a big issue.
From searching reddit on this issue, it seems usually you will see the windows logo at the very least at startup, so I'm interested in what my situation might be.
I have a windows Surface Pro 4 128GB i5. When plugged in, the power cable displays a lit white led, the keyboard lights up when turned on, and plugging in a usb will also light up, indicating power is available.
However, when turned on the screen does not turn on.
What I have tried:
-I've disconnected accessories and made sure the Surface is charged
-tried to wake it up with keyboard shortcuts using Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B.
-tired to force a restart with Press and hold the power button. Also, power button and volume up until shutdown, then power button to start. Also, power button and volume up, then volume down hold + power button press and release to attempt get into BIOS. Also, power button and volume up, then volume uphold + power button press and release to attempt get into a screen.
-The tablet would turn off and then turn on on all attemps to force a restart, but the screen remained black.
-I created a recovery USB, but this also did not work, the screen would remain black and not show BIOS with volume down hold + power button press and release, or even volume up hold + power button press and release.
All attempts did not get anything other than black screen.
What could I do to get the surface working again?
The lack of headphone jack.
My previous device was SP6 pro and lately i've been using IEM headphones for work with a mic.
The new SP11 is fantastic. All the applications i want to use run with zero issues. I couldn't tell you what is emulated and what is native. Its fantastic. With my work stuff running task manager reports CPU usage at 2% which is insane.... i don't even understand how it can be that low.
But once i had set it all up it threw me that i couldn't plug in my headphones.
Luckily i'd ordered the thunderbolt 4 dock which has one on the back. But of all the things to trip me up it was that lol.
And yeah... i guess i can just get a usb c headphone adapter or switch to some bluetooth.
I just received my Base Model Surface Pro 11. I'm not sure if this will be visible from the image but there is a small region on the edge of the display where the glass is not properly tucked into the frame. Probably going to go through customer service to hopefully swap my unit out. The Posting for awareness and curious if anyone else has had similar QA issues.
Preordered a 15’ laptop 7 in early June and out of the blue get this email. Anyone else had the same issue? What was the outcome? Did Microsoft give an explanation?
I've still got my old Surface Book 2 cookin along. It does what I need it for, which is just mobile writing, surfing, and reference images. But I'm afraid the screen is showing it's age finally. The very top 2 or 3 pixels of the screen have started to flicker. It's only really obvious if you have a bright image touching the top of the screen. But it's enough to drive someone like me NUTS.
My question is: is there a way to adjust the screen space a bit, like on a regular stand-alone monitor? Typically such things are used to adjust for overlap. But I want to undercut it just a smidge to leave out the flickering top of the screen. If I could adjust the bit of screen that is used by just a few pixels, there would be absolutely no issue (at least until the problem spreads).
Hello folks,
I wanted to use my Surface Pro 11. Edition as a monitor for my PC. Miracast isn't working properly, so I was hoping, that I could use a cable to do that, and if yes, what cable do I need?
Our use case involves Surface Go 4's and Surface Dock 2's...
Trying to image with a WinPE USB stick. It won;t boot to the stick when plugged into the Dock 2, but if I plug into a USB hub, and attach the hub (USB-C) to the dock, it works.
So I figured I would try inserting the Dock 2 drivers into my WinPE boot.wim, but the Microsoft site that allows msi download is not working (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=101317)...
Is there somewhere else I can get them? Thanks to everyone, I don't need other methods, I would just like to download the Dock 2 drivers\firmware at this point...Thank you!
Hey everyone!
I hope someone can help me. I have a surface 4 pro, which I use since 2015/16. For about 2 years it’s flickering from time to time but a fresh start did the trick so far.
Now since a few weeks it’s doing this flickering every time I’m on it. First everything is fine but when I work (Firefox, Word, maybe adobe pdf viewer) it starts and won’t stop even after restarting the laptop. As you see it’s impossible to read or work. Once it started I can stop work altogether…
I don’t know what to do. I can’t afford a new one rn but I need the laptop for work. I’m so so worn out… Sometimes I can work with a second desktop, there everything is fine (even when the laptop-desktop is flickering). But I don’t have access to the second desktop when I’m not at home…
Any ideas? I’m not very good with computers and also not a native speaker so sorry if I my post isn’t much elaborate :)
I’m looking forward to your input!
I've just received my SP9 i5 16GB/256GB. First full charge has lasted for only 3 hours 36 mins. This seems way too low!! I was only browsing on Edge and doing a little writing in Samsung Notes.
This is with Microsoft Edge efficiency mode, battery saver, dark mode, performance boost disabled. Am I missing something here?
How are folk finding the fan on the SP11 with the Snapdragon Elite X CPU?
Coming from the fan-less ARM SP9 I'm finding the fan is on quite a lot; which it didn't seem to be at the beginning!
