What kind of sickos require standing for a desk job? Fascists
I rest my case
I just finished the collector ship mission and I’ve only fought two of these guys so far but it is a colossal pain in the ass to kill them. My biggest issue is when they launch themselves into the air and come down instantly killing your squad mates and fully recharging their barrier. My tactic is clear the rest of the room then spread your squad mates and yourself out as much as possible and kite the praetorian around. I usually bust through all my medi gel and heavy ammo. Is there a counter to the barrier recharge move. Like idk if you hit right before it drops down can you prevent it from full healing its barrier? I guess I should start bringing two squad mates with warp to collector missions for these guys?
Alright, so, first impression is, it isn't AS bad as it probably was at launch from all the info I dug up, the engine it uses being Frostbite, great for shooters, pain in the ass for RPGs which Andromeda is... whoops!
(Skippable paragraph about how EA wasn't the only company that screwed the pooch here)
Bet that was EA's intervention! Oh! It was because they sent it off to frickin' Montreal instead of asking the people responsible for fixing ME3, or y'know did ME1 and ME2, makes sense to sent it of to EA Montreal... didn't... didn't Gearbox famously do that with Borderlands the Pre-Sequel to the Australia office? OH! They did! Bet nothing happened that made the game famously the worst title in the series, including Borderlands 3! Oh... it is... what happened to that office? Oh... shutdown and Gearbox proper took it and developed virtually all the DLC, by which I mean made an entire extra campaign that explains what happened to all the CL4P-TP units... well, I'm sure EA gave Andromeda back to BioWare's ME team to fix it with DLC! Oh... no... the only DLC is Deluxe Edition and 2 Multiplayer packs... talk about AWKWARD! Thankfully Ubisof- oh, they did it too... well, no one seems to learn, I bet Bliz- oh... well, this is awkward... giving all of these different examples back to back that did the same thing and shot their good will and reputation in the foot from day one... kind of a downer. Especially considering most of the games, except the Overwatch 2 example, got pretty much fixed later. At least as fixed as it could get.
So, I'm just going to say, Andromeda was an example of what happens when good intentions, don't get fixed and are just abandoned! I mean, the base game fixed as many issues as they managed to fix before giving up because EA sucks ass, and I wish they'd just let BioWare work on THEIR titles.
Like, if Andromeda, didn't have such an emphasis on being a "MASS EFFECT" title, it probably would've been overlooked as being, new team, new engine, they tried, worth playing. Even if they kept it in the MEU and just called the game "Andromeda Initiative." And let people see that it's got ME races in it, but leave the freaking pre-title off as the team was focused on "New Beginnings" as a concept. I feel like just dropping the ME from MEA would've gone a long way in fixing this game's poor reception. People would've cut it more slack I feel if they'd pushed this as just "an initiative that seeks to get a FOOTHOLD in a new galaxy."
Like, people wouldn't be expecting 29yr old Shep, no, they'd somewhat get the more looser tone since they don't yet know that Shep wasn't lying about the Reapers coming. I mean, they will know, but not in the same way everyone else found out in ME3 and that Andromeda might literally be their only hope as species to continue surviving in the Universe (all species present in the game and those "coming to the galaxy later."
(My dissertation on the Ryder's, feel free to skip the paragraph on them, if you wish.)
Now, I think they did Ryder, both Scott and Sara dirty first off... 1) Sara, well, looks like she's 15 and not 22... so, that's a thing. 2) Scott, well, being much taller than his sister, it doesn't make sense that someone hearing "WAIT!" would be toppled by Peebee as both should've instinctively braced as they'd shown competency by this point. It makes more sense with Sara though, so I feel like their physique should've been more equalized and they should've picked a specific tone for both Scott and Sara as a pair because footage that I've seen of Scott, well, he sounds like an eternal jokester, meanwhile, I've got the same scenes with Sara and she seems much more serious. So, I feel like Scott should've been written more like Sara was to deliver them relatively seriously, by someone who is 22 and is trying to live up to the legacy of their father. Now, sure, joking is viable, but I feel like, the zingers shouldn't be made by the person LEADING the effort... there should've been a "Joker" character for the ship, or among the crew, and allowed some joking comments, but only a few, to be presented by the MC's. Aside from that, they're okay... serviceable avatars. Great? Probably not, but serviceable.
Lastly, there should've been a choice between 3 outposts, not just research OR military. I feel a "Survival" Outpost would've worked wonders and would be a "Why not both SOME research, and SOME defensive capabilities!" Like a best of both worlds option. Seems like it would be a let down for both wings, but at least, they'd be like, "we get it, we need both, not just one OR the other."
Aside from that, I feel like the game is okay now, it just suffers from having the worst prefix "MASS EFFECT" tied so closely to it. Just, if they'd gone with the Mass Effect Universe, allowed it to be in UE4 or something that wasn't Frostbite and was given a name like "Andromeda Initiative" I feel like it would've set a much better tone in terms of how the game was received. I really do. Even if it would still be a Mass Effect title, it would be advertised as an initiative that LEFT the Milkyway before the start of Mass Effect 2. I feel like people would've treated it like they did Mass Effect 1, with a bit of baby gloves because it was a new team's first attempt that was a bit bumpy in terms of direction and asset creation.
But that's generally my thoughts as of the end of the tutorial, now, off to continue the game and see how bad it gets. This was just how I feel it should've probably been marketed and the missteps that I've personally caught.
PS- Peebee's dad should've been Salarian and not Elcor! It'd at least explain her energy level of 105 out of 10. I find her endearing for now, but like... at least being part Salarian would explain the energy level.
Hello everyone and welcome to the sixth dev diary for Mass Effect A New Destiny. Today I wanted to give you a preview of what to expect with v0.1.4. First, for a bit of house cleaning, this update will drop at some point after Machine Age has released but I cannot give an exact time-frame to everyone. https://www.moddb.com/mods/mass-effect-a-new-destiny/news/mass-effect-a-new-destiny-dev-diary-6-fcw-part-2
Hi all! As the title says, I’m trying to start a new game, but after creating the character it is stuck on the loading screen.
Did anyone encounter the same issue and if so how did you resolve it?
Replaying Mass Effect 2, testing more of the classes with save editor, and playing any caster class is feeling significantly more painful than the 3 combat classes, at least pre-Collector Ship. Ability damage and cooldowns are just kinda underwhelming for what you give up in weapon training. Tempest helps a little, but still imo, SMGs and Heavy pistols fall quite short of Geth Plasma Shotgun with Charge and Snipers with Tac Cloak.
But especially Soldier just seems far and away the most broken in ME2. Having Mattock right off the bat, and maxing Adrenaline Rush asap for 240% damage, 70% time dilation, on a 3 second base cooldown, is just insanely overpowered in comparison.
In contrast, ME1 felt a bit more balanced. Pistols feel much more viable imo. Biotics are of course super strong, but between a bonus talent and squadmates, you can have fine coverage with any class.
In ME3, I feel the removal of weapon training and addition of the weight system and power combo system went a long way to equalizing the power levels of all the classes.
Am I missing something about the caster classes in ME2? I think it's a common sentiment online that Adept is underpowered in ME2, but is there something about Combat Drone or Tech Armor that I'm missing that makes them game changers? I've felt that Tech Armor is decent, but honestly not even as strong as the unique powers of the combat classes.
HARD MODE - you can’t say Vigil
Personally, I’m obsessed with Tali’s music in ME2 + the combat music from the Omega DLC

Hey, so I've just installed Andromeda on the EA app but whenever I try launching it, it just says "preparing game" and then brings up the EA app. Anyone else having this problem? I've played it a couple of times on this PC before, the only thing that's changed is that it's on the EA app instead of origin now. I've tried reinstalling the app and the game but neither have worked.
Basing this off the 2012 movie, where Earth is nearly completely destroyed with only parts of Africa being left, and less than 500,000 humans left alive.
We’ve had this citadel art for some time now and decided to hang our reaper plush over it. Ominous! Lol
The main reason I'm such a fan of Vanguard is because of how fun I find Biotic Charge to be...
They arent compatible with each other so which one is better for those who have played both

I know it's not that good but please give me your opinion. Thanks in advance.
Been playing through the trilogy with Ashley for a change. I loved her romance in ME1 but can’t seem to activate it in 3. Whilst in hospital, I chose all the paragon options and told her that it’s always been her as I thought I was supposed too. Also bought her the Tennyson collection book.
However, I’m now 16 hours in and haven’t received an email or anything from her as I have with the other characters asking to meet them on the citadel. In fact, I can’t ever seem to engage in dialogue with her or find her on the citadel at any time.
Have I missed something? Does the romance not kick in until later? I’ve finished Tuchanka but haven’t started Rannoch. Is that why?
Any help would be appreciated
That is, 99% of the Milky Way has not been explored and there is a lot of new stuff there. New species, new heroes, new stories...
Not a big deal just curious. Does your unlocks from the ME3 LE Armax Ultimate Arena carry over into NG+?
Or do I have to purchase the maps, enemies and squadmates again?
I know I should've done him before Mordin....yeah I got no excuse, I just forgot

First time Engineer player here. Started getting the hang of the drone. Didn't like it at first, I was mainly just using Overload and Incinerate to strip enemy defenses and then finishing off the health bars with my Locust.
But then I started putting some points into the drone and it really is useful at shutting down individual enemies, keeping them distracted and completely off Shepard's back so you can gun them down without taking fire yourself. Very useful on Insanity.
I'm still early game, pre-Horizon, but feel like I'm starting to flow well with the Engineer's power kit and taking tough fights without much trouble.
For the final Drone evolution should I take Attack or Explosive drone? After reading their stats, Explosive seems like the obvious choice since it seems to add AoE staggering damage, so it would make the drone useful against multiple clustered targets instead of just one. In contrast, Attack Drone seems to only have a slightly higher damage bonus on a single target as its perk. It doesn't even have more health than the Explosive Drone, so it doesn't even have more durability.
Is this an obvious choice or is there something I'm missing?
light spoilers. sorry for the wall of text lol. replaying the trilogy for my annual mandatory playthrough, currently on ME2 and i believe im cooked. during Zaeed’s loyalty mission i went the renegade route because i wasn’t sure if i had enough paragon points (paragon playthrough) to convince him at the end of the mission. this resulted, obviously, in me getting renegade rather than paragon points. fast forward thru a couple more loyalty missions, the final one before the Reaper IFF was Jack. the disagreement between her and miranda played out, and i didn’t have enough paragon points to win both their loyalty, nor did i have enough to regain jacks loyalty (i sided with miranda) afterwards. now im just running through side missions trying to rack up paragon points and hopefully restore the point ratio to regain jacks loyalty before i hit up the Reaper IFF mission. has anyone else been in the same/similar circumstance? will i have to load an older save and run thru Zaeed’s mission with the paragon route to have enough points for the miranda-jack encounter? not tryna deal with the mission countdown after the Reaper IFF without having all my teams loyalty
