Manjaro is a GNU/Linux distribution based on Arch Linux. It provides all the benefits of a rolling release distro and includes a user-friendly installer, tested updates that try very hard to not break your system and a community of friendly users for support.
Official releases include Xfce, KDE & Gnome as well as a minimal net-edition. Community releases include Enlightenment (E17), OpenBox, Mate, FluxBox, Cinnamon, LXDE, LXQt, & Deepin. There are builds for ARM devices like Raspberry Pi, Odroid etc. as well as a selection of realtime kernels.
How is 'Manjaro' Pronounced? As in Mount Kilimanjaro, which was the inspiration for the name. From the: Manjaro FAQ
Although we will try to give support, we just don't have the breadth or depth of the official forum. If you are not getting timely or accurate help here, please ask again in one of the fora listed in the sidebar. You can also try /r/linuxquestions or /r/linux4noobs here on Reddit.

Hi,
I'm sorry for kind-of cross-posting, but I'm having some trouble using debian, which I hadn't with manjaro and I'm struggling to find out, what's wrong...
So why is debian having hiccups in sound, while manjaro hasn't? What could be the underlying technical difference? Both are freshly installed.
I have some discussion going on over at debian (https://www.reddit.com/r/debian/comments/1idjgsu/technical\_differences\_debian\_vs\_manjaro/), but maybe you manjaro-folks here have a better idea?
Thanks a lot in advance,
pheidrias
PS: Debian 12 is fully in pipewire mode, running version 1.2.7 of it.
On Manjaro running Kernel 6.12.4-1. Title says it pretty well, but I've tried capturing from my Sony a6000 and from a VCR (I convert old family tapes and the like for friends and family) through the input of my GC575 (AverMedia Live Gamer 2.1). Black screen. Audio is being picked up... just no video.
OBS is locally installed because I believe the flatpak has issues doing what I'm trying to do.
I'm open to suggestion here. :-/

Why not getting any update in pacman for last few months ?
when i am changing the mirrorlist from manjaro stable to arch then so much updates are coming.
Should i update like that
Hi, so, as stated in title, I'm trying to speed up LUKS, and experimenting with test partition.
After manually opening with luksOpen
, using luksDump
I see that my device has (no flags)
:
# cryptsetup luksDump /dev/nvme0n1p5
LUKS header information
Version: 2
Epoch: 3
Metadata area: 16384 [bytes]
Keyslots area: 16744448 [bytes]
UUID: 1bad7a14-4a79-4103-9690-f23744799fbd
Label: (no label)
Subsystem: (no subsystem)
Flags: (no flags)
But, dmsetup tells me that flags are active:
# dmsetup table
luks-8ee66251-c1cf-4e16-9b78-fdcb83c5925f: 0 196235264 crypt aes-xts-plain64 :64:logon:cryptsetup:1bad7a14-4a79-4103-9690-f23744799fbd-d0 0 259:6 32768 3 no_read_workqueue no_write_workqueue sector_size:4096
According to the wiki about this topic, flags should be there.
So I don't know which tool I should trust. I remember that I experimented before on Linux Mint with test partition and it worked - I saw the flags here, and also I saw huge performance boost with fio
. Now, after I installed Manjaro, I cannot set my encrypted partition performance on par with raw one.
Complete newbie in Linux.. I have a brand new Seagate 2tb external hard disk intended as storage but it cannot be detected in Manjaro Linux.. when plug to the pc usb hub, the light is on and it is running, but it's not detected and keeps making the plug in/unplug sound. Changing the usb ports still not working. When I go into disk, the external hard disk keeps briefly appearing and disappearing.. the hdd works fine on windows though
I'm trying to use Firefox but I can't connect to certain websites, for example youtube works but Google or Twitter doesn't. Yes I am a absolute newbie to this so I apologize if I missed any critical steps
I tried to ping 8.8.8.8, also didn't work, says network is unreachable
I have not tinkered with settings aside from wallpaper related stuff and the dns
I have changed my dns to 8.8.8.8, haven't tried 1.1.1.1 but it also doesn't ping so I doubt it'll do anything
Yes I am connected to a stable connection but apparently manjaro says it's limited
I don't know the exact frequency but this only happens on my tplink booster, I'd assume 2.4 but I may be incorrect, connecting to my main router works so it's not as big of a issue but it'd be convenient for me to fix, thank you in advance
When i run lsusb
the system recognizes the device as it outputs the following:
Bus 003 Device 005: ID 2feb:0005 Beijing Veikk E-Commerce Co., Ltd. VK640
And the tablet's indicator glows when I hover the pen over it, meaning that it is being powered by my laptop.
However, the cursor just doesn't show up on my screen. I thought it was an extensive input problem, so I tried plugging in my mouse and test if it really was. My mouse worked and can control the cursor on my screen, so I started to get lost.
On the official website, I can download the drivers for the tablet, however they're in .deb and .rpm format, so I tried installing this from the AUR and opened vktablet
on combi
only for nothing to happen. I'm kind of in a dead end here, so any help will be very much appreciated!
Hi all
I have xfce on my framework 13 hoping it would be light enough and not make it overheat on light loads like whatever flavor of Mint I had on Dell gaming laptop (fans always cleaned and hardware got new paste every year). The scaling is something that REALLY bothers me and was curious if anyone had suggestions on what to use if I were to replace xfce??
Still a novice with Linux and I absolutely won't touch Windows ever again.
Any idea why the lock screen might not be accepting the correct password?
I am using Cinnamon, and if I lock my screen and walk away for some hours, when I return, the lock screen will say that the password is wrong. I can view the password visually and see that it is correct., but the machine will not accept it.
If I reboot, it lets me login without an issue with the same password that the lock screen rejected.
Additionally, if I lock the screen, and log back in after around 15 minutes, it usually works just fine.
I did some searching on this, but the threads I found were like 3 years old and didn't seem to have a solution.
So basically what happended is i tried manjaro on a vm and it worked perfectly but when i try to install it on my hard drive it seems that the drivers for the GPU ( Amd Radeon RX50 2040SP 8GB ) dont work properly because i can see the plymouth print with the ok (i dont rember the name) but the GUI never shows up
[Lenovo Ideapad 320 with NVIDIA 940MX]
I’ve struggled with NVIDIA drivers on Fedora Linux for over 5 years coz hybrid GPU setups—issues like drivers breaking, games stuck on the integrated GPU, and trouble configuring PRIME. Not a distro hopper but would Manjaro be a good option considering its driver management and hybrid GPU support? If not, is there a better distro for gaming on this hardware?
Ty in advance
Hey folks,
I'm experiencing a weird display issue with my Manjaro installation. I must confess, my display setup is a little tinkered; Since I have to switch between my work Macbook and my main PC very often, my single display (LG 38wn95c-w) is connected to a Dell WD19TB3 Thunderbolt-dock via Displayport, which supports DP 1.4. When connecting the main PC I'm using the USB-C-connector on the gpu (a Radeon RX6800XT) with DP-passthrough. This allows me to use a single cable when switching devices and not having to use HDMI for connecting the Mac.
The Macbook handles everything via Thunderbolt and works like a charm. Regarding the PC I'm at a loss. If I connect it to the Dell dock, the display is recognized fine; according to GNOME display settings the highest supported refresh rate is 144 Hz. But if I switch to anything above 75 Hz, the image starts to shake.
It does neither flicker nor dropout and the refresh rate is indeed 144 Hz. But the whole image is jumping up and down on the vertical axis. Not very much, but more than enough to leave it unusable. My first thought was the limited bandwith of the USB-C-port, compared to the Macbooks Thunderbolt-port. But when I booted from my Windows-SSD everything worked fine. So the problem somehow must be related to Linux / Manjaro.
The issue occurs with both Wayland and Xorg and only with the display connected to the cards USB-C-port via the dock. If I connect it directly via DP everything works fine. Also turning off adaptive sync on the display side doesn't make any difference. Do you have any idea why this is happening?
Thanks in advance!
Hello, i'm currently trying to fully switch to Manjaro, both on my private PC as well as my work Laptop and i'm kind of running out of options from the arch wiki pages to try. My hardware is 12th gen intel cpu and a 3070 - the gpu on the Laptop, so just intel graphics there. Both in games, mostly Steam and daily driving it, meaning videos and such. I get these microstutters all the time. To the point where i get a headache when i watch the screen for more than an hour. Currently using i3wm cause i somehow love the window tiling. Also tried gnome, kde and Sway, all with a clean install. All of them seem to have the same underlying issue. Well sway wont render at all with nvidia drivers. Would love to have some pointers as to how i can find and mitigate these issues.
I can only really tolerate gnome or budgie desktop environments, or pantheon but I don't think much is going on there. So as it stands, the only manjaro with all the DE tweaks is gnome, would be great to have an alternative spin.
Would you consider it okay because it is based on arch or would it be fraud?
Hi all,
Recently I've began playing with Manjaro a bit and absolutely love it, but read that the Manjaro team had various issues and inconsistencies at one point.
I apologize if this post comes off as digging for bones, but I was just curious if they've been more on point as of late, or if the issues were more overblown than in reality?
I'm interested in committing a lot of time into learning the ins-and-outs of Manjaro, as well as potentially making monetary donations to the project, but want to feel confident that it's a stable and serious project.
Absolutely beautiful distro!
Thanks :)
I'm building my new desktop PC. I have received all the components except the GPU ("GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7800 XT GAMING OC").
Can I start installing Linux (Manjaro) using the integrated graphics of the "MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk" motherboard, and connect the GPU when I receive it, or is it better to wait and install Linux with the GPU on for some reasons?
So I've just reinstalled my laptop with Manjaro and I've created a document that allows me to copy paste relevant parts into the terminal so i don't have to re-type everything when I do a fresh install.
I'm trying to streamline the amount of steps needed to get my system up and running and what I've been doing up until now is install all the initial system updates, then reboot, and then proceed by installing the other apps.
Is it ok to install the other apps right after doing the initial system updates? (so not do the reboot until i've installed everything).
I'm just wondering because there are these all-in-one bash scripts that fully prepare a system.
My package manger (the built in pamac) keeps saying there are OS updates, and when I click Apply it says "Transaction successfully finished," but the exact same OS Updates stay in the list. They don't go away no matter how many times I click Apply.
I've restarted my computer, I've run
sudo pamac update -a
and
sudo pacman -Syu (also -Syyu, also -Syuu)
I'm not sure why the pamac app keeps saying there are OS updates (specifically a bunch of org.freedesktop packages, an org.gnome.Platform packge, and an org.kde.Platform package).
Edit: Fixed!
flatpak upgrade
was the command that fixed it. Thanks for the other suggestions, they were close! 👍

Hello. I'm new to Linux as a whole, and just set up a dual-boot for Manjaro this weekend. It's been really smooth most of the time, but when the screen times out, the screensaver acts as an impregnable barrier that I can only be rid of by rebooting the PC.
I don't know if the issue is with KDE, drivers, or something else. All help is appreciated.
Does anyone know how to change the accent colors in the GNOME desktop? The setting should be available under the Style section in the Appearance menu but I do not see it.
I am currently running GNOME 47.2 and Manjaro 24.2.1.
hi i recently installed manjaro on my gaming pc
tho i am getting a issue where linux freezes (taskbalk start menu ect)
but other apps like chrome steam and all are just running fine
intel 10th gen cpu
nvidia 3060 gpu
64gb ram
does anyone know how to fix this?
I'm on a fresh install (XFCE) and I still have this problem,
on video players in librewolf I can pop out a video and it stays on top,
but in vlc (default install), the option [view->always-on-top] makes the screen go black and VLC irresponsive but audio keeps playing, I tried changing the [tools->preference->video->output] from "automatic" to "X11" and others like suggested elsewhere with no result.
The Explaining Computers channel on YouTube have done an introduction to Manjaro video.

I doubt anyone in this forum will learn anything from it, but it could be a useful bookmark for anyone who knows someone thinking about switching.
This is a fresh install on a Lenovo M715q desktop. I did not tamper with anything in BIOS, and it is a secondhand from eBay. Running "sudo pacman -Sy(y)u" results in an "unable to lock database" error. Should I redownload Manjaro and try again? It didn't do this for my old PC, why this one?
