I was trying to use EasyEffects with XFCE4, but unfortunately, the appearance of the window is slightly different to what I’d like.
When I open settings, Thunar, the terminal, or qBittorrent, the windows all look the same, with roughly the same GUI / style.
Some applications don’t look like other ones, especially EasyEffects, and Firefox. The most noticeable thing is how rounded the corners are. I couldn’t find any options to change this.
It’s a pretty minor issue, but it really annoys me when these things are inconsistent.
Is it possible to get them to all look the same (or, at least, to get the window borders to look the same)?
Thanks
yo. i've gone through cinnamon, ubuntu and deepin (both stable and the beta).
so far, i really like xfce, and it works pretty alright. very pleasing to work with. my only problem is sometimes i'll run certain programs, and if i'm running more than one at a time, one of them will straight up freeze, and i'll be unable to use it while it's frozen, but be able to use the rest of the computer. sometimes, after a program has frozen, the entire laptop will freeze, and become unresponsive (to the point i'm unable to use my mouse).
is there anything i can do to make it stop, or happen less often?
i've already followed steps on the Easy Linux Tips project.
thank you
Hello everyone! For the past few months, I've been working on a script for XFCE with Xorg that allows you to change the wallpaper at regular intervals, all thanks to the Wallhaven API. The features of this script are:
This is my first bash script, and although it's a hobby, there may be errors. Nonetheless, if you find any issues, feel free to open an Issue on Github. I'll be checking the repository from time to time.
Greetings, and I hope you like it.
when you are on the lock screen for example, when the screen times out as in the screen doesn't show anything and it goes dark, xfce does not turn off the display of the monitor, how would I change such settings?
I am on endeavourOS.
start it with nm-applet --indicator
and it will have this effect thingy when selected just like all other applets and css will work with it too I think,
found it in a comment here and its a little hard to find, linux mint does it and I always thought they used some different tool to make it like that 🥲
you know how there are options when you are logging into mint cinnamon like wayland and stuff well there are none in xfce and I think the default is wayland and since my pc cant handle wayland i cant use xfce
Is there a way to have a power mode slider like KDE/Win 10 or a selector on panel like Budgie/Gnome
I installed a applet on Cinnamon to change power modes (power modes daemon) on the panel
I am not too interested in using TLP or autocpu-freq
Hello.
I've been using XFCE for some time now, and my only gripe is that none of the dock options (Docklike, Plank, Cairo-Dock, etc.) are as good as Cinnamon's built-in taskbar and each has their own issues. In the end, I decided to stick with no dock and just grouped the windows together.
However, it is quite tiresome to close many windows at once, as in this gif: I need to re-click the window group and middle click to close for each instance. It's much quicker to just leave window grouping off, but then it becomes a mess to manage the desktop when many windows are open at once.
In this case, what do you personally use? Do you use the Window Buttons panel item? If so, do you leave grouping on? Any suggestions for the "problem" I stated? Help is appreciated, as this has been hampering my workflow as of recently. Thanks.
I'm using Jasper Light. It's very great, but the main problem is the fact that the desktop looks a bit too transparent, specially with my wallpaper choice. It seems to have all GTK (since 2) and XFWM4 stuff
Is there any config that I could do, to manage to change it?
Hey I'm a new linux user. I was used the kde plasma for a week. In fedora linux. Then I switched my desktop environment to xfce cuz this is more lightweight my laptop is a potato. After switching to xfce this looks like old computer I just went for some customisation but I don't know how to do customize that. I want my fedora linux with xfce looks more modern an like Mac os. Can u guys give some tips or ways to do that
I'm finding Chrome to have responsive rescroll but is missing any sort of acceleration if I take my fingers off the mousepad, it stops. A few apps DO have this feature though such as GEdit which works wonderfully. Is this a limitation of X11? I recall gnome with wayland working just fine before.
what the title says basically, it just took me like 25 minutes to empty the bin.
while this is happening thunar becomes very slow and unresponsive
xubuntu 22.10, thunar 4.17.9
i have an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (16) @ 3.600G
In an attempt to remove a logo i somehow removed all the essential wifi battery icons now i cant get them back any idea what i should do please help
As seen here, the default mouse sizes are not very gradual. Is there a way to have a size that is in between? Running Debian btw and using hiDPI settings and scaling which may be fucking with it
I turned on autologin since I don't like entering my password twice (once for LUKS). and upon doing so, I got this basic password UI: https://imgur.com/a/Nqd9Mck.
The issue is that it doesn't appear on my external monitor. So any reboot results in headache. I disabled autologin, but the same basic UI now sticks despite my settings.
Any way to fix this or make it appear on my external monitor somehow? I'm using nvidia, fedora 40, and a macbook pro 2014.
Hi, I just recently started using Kali (in VM Ware, the image of Kali is installed from Get Kali | Kali Linux) and the first thing that caught my eye was that Kali's default icons are terribly large (the red highlighted part in the attached image) and look a bit unaesthetic. Can you tell me how to make it smaller, thank you very much. Sorry for bothering you if this question has already been asked.
I created KDE Connect
directory and i want to move kde connect menu entries in that directory, but i don't see a way to do that. Dragging the entries doesn't work. How to move the entries? https://imgur.com/YuMUHju.png
I’ve always wondered this. I have downloaded the themes from the mint database and put it in my themes directory and I do get the Mint-Y theme but that’s it. despite having all the folders for all the other themes too, none show up. I really want the different colored options. I know it’s possible I just want to see if you guys have any tips for doing this. Mint’s XFCE themes are my favorite.
Hi. I am attemping to write a 213-character filename to an m4a recording using Thunar. However, I am getting the error "Error renaming [file path]: File name too long". This is despite both my filesystem (btrfs) and linux seeming to support 255 character filenames. What other problem could be causing this and how can I fix this issue? Thank you in advance for any help.
Ok so I am new to xfce so please excuse if I am asking something very stupid and basic. I have 4 desktops on my xfce system. For study, coding, gaming, art and all. When I shutdown the system and then reboot it (I have checked the save session for future logins checkbox) it pushes all the windows from all the desktops in one single desktop. I want to keep then separate, any help?
I don’t know where to find the theme template
On other window managers/desktop environments, you can switch between an ordered set of tasks within one workspace using keybinds such as <super> + <some number key>
. This setup is much faster than using alt + tab
, especially if you're a tab hoarder -- and, it would especially be useful on XFCE where the alt+tab task switcher menu isn't always in the same order as the Window Buttons in xfce4-panel.
Optimally, I'd like to hit super+1
for Firefox, super+2
for another other Firefox window, super+3
for some IDE window, etc., but I couldn't find anything in Window Manager Tweaks or Keyboard.
How is this done with XFCE?
How to reproduce:
In a clean install of XFCE, go to the fonts tab in appearance settings and try to select Noto Sans (any variant e.g. condensed/bold). Some other font families have the same problem too.
Expected result is the font will change to the selection, but what actually happens is it uses the base default version of Noto Sans regular no matter which variant you select.
This does not happen with some other fonts, for example choosing Roboto Condensed will work.
I did search for a solution to this and could not find any, then I tried installing a vanilla XFCE in a VM on another distro (Endeavour without theme) to double check it wasn't a problem with my distro or configuration.
It appears to be a bug in XFCE font handling.
Update: Where seee examples of "look stunning" xfce desktops, and maybe guides on how to make those desktops that others made
Any good links for this. Links or video to see what specific things this can do that kde and other linux uis cannot do? Testing newest kde on kdeneon right now

Or in quicker or simpler ways. If there isn't can say so. Thanks
