How do I get in this field? I searched google for training/classes in lancaster with no luck. An online program called Top Gun Security Academy also popped up but i cant find no actual reviews on it? has anyone used that program successfully?
I work from home a lot, and I’m starting to get sick of my room. Any cute work from home spot recommendations that are peaceful and productive?
Hey folks, looking for recommendations on a jeweler to make an engagement ring.
Is there anyone with experience with a jeweler who didn’t take issue with bringing an outside stone? I’ve already sourced the diamond, but only discovered after that many jewelers do not work with outside stones.
Thank you in advance for any assistance!
Anybody know what happened at the intersection of west orange and Mary last night at like 11pm? Kind of sounded like several gun shots and there were several police officers there but I can’t find anything about it.
Grass cutting day is my favorite.
Why do you suppose LNP hasn’t covered the story of the sick child of a construction worker, and the requirement for workers to now wear lead detectors on their bodies while inside the building?
Prison right there but always liked this area. Lived on E Chestnut years ago. Ty!
Visiting for a day trip from Philly. Best orchards / farms in the fall?
Really excited for this show! Anyone else going this Saturday?!
Hello, I am interested in seeing if anyone is hiring for a marketing/graphic design/communications role in the area. I have experience video editing on Adobe Creative Cloud, photo editing on Canva, copywriting and more. If anyone is looking for something like this or is aware of anything, please reach out and I would be happy to send my resume. Thank you!
Any non chain restaurants that have great fried chicken?
Myself and a few colleagues and executives will be having dinner in a few weeks and our newest team member follows a Kosher diet. Anyone know of any good dine-in Kosher restaurants (or restaurants with good Kosher options) in the Lancaster area? Does not have to be in Lancaster specifically.
Is there a cafe/coffee shop or some place that has comfy chairs in Lancaster City that I can sit and read at?
Best local place for tires? Looking for somewhere honest, reasonable, and helpful. Any help is appreciated.
Hello everyone! My family is making the trip to Lancaster to see it for the first time. Unfortunately it will be a quick trip of 2 days and 1 night so time is very limited. We have two boys, 7 and 5.
We will be staying at the Rocky Acre Farm Bed and Breakfast. I am trying to put together an itinerary together for our trip. It looks like there is so much fun stuff to do and see. However with our time being limited this is where we could use some help prioritizing things. What are the things we should definitely see or do with the young kids? Also any restaurants or food experience recommendations would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you!
Typically do my training runs in the evenings on a trail but with the time change coming up I don’t feel comfortable running after dark in that area. Any recommendations on well lit locations in Lancaster county for running?
I'm not in the area this week, and of course, some dashboard lights came on. I went to an Auto Zone, and the diagnostic tool says I need to replace a couple of parts. My question to you, fine folks: Are there any mechanics or auto shops that both accept walk-ins and let me bring my own part? I'm figuring I can buy the part that needs replacing, but I don't know enough about cars, nor have the right equipment, to do the job myself. And, bc I know I picked a bad first make, it's a 2012 VW Jetta. Thanks!
Edit - Thank you all for your suggestions! For clarification, I am traveling this week until Thursday. Normally, I go to Witmer's in Ephrata, but they are booked out for another 2 weeks, and I need my car to travel for work again next week. I keep up with semi-annual appointments but I think my underlying reason for this post was to find a shop that has availability next day for instances like mine where suddenly lights on the dashboard come on outside of those semi-annual check-ups. I think I'll just schedule with Witmer anyway and then just grumble to myself about why we built our infrastructure to rely so heavily on individual transit, but I'll take my soapbox elsewhere for that.
Going to the Lancaster, PA area,I would prefer to order off a menu, or family style, but I can't find any off the places that serve the old "Seven Sweets and Seven Sours"--looks like it's all giant buffets, with lots on Non-Amish food (parmagian? pastas, chicken cordon bleu?)???? Does anyone serve some of the more traditional Amish foods like pot pie w/ homemade flat dumplings, Apple butter, tapioca pudding (with the large tapioca balls)"filling", chow-chow, croquettes, corn fritters, etc.?
Searching for a running coach in Lancaster. Looking for someone that is local and can meet in person. Just moved to Lancaster after college so not familiar with the area. Any advice would be helpful!
I don't mind religious folks at all (minus the extremists), but I want to live around like-minded people. I've heard a lot of good things about Lanc and I really need to live somewhere that isn't a total drag. A larger city just isn't feasible right now. I've read that the city limits are more progressive.
I saw that the Lancaster Freethought Society is a thing and will be sure to join up.
Thing is, I'm from South Central PA, so my daily life won't be restricted to that city anyway. My friends and family live all over that area. I have some financial goals to meet and hobbies I want to pursue so I feel like as long as Lanc isn't lame like York, I'll be fine. I'm a bit nervous but I think I just need to deal with the uncertainty and trust my gut on this.
Side note: I don't drink much, so the bar scene isn't exactly super important. I think I'm done trying to meet people there anyway.
Edit: I'm mainly asking what the culture is like there considering the high religious population. It's good to know most of you haven't had issues with them, but I want to know if there's plenty of culture and activities that don't revolve around religion. And do you find that there are plenty of other like-minded people there?
I dont live *in* lancaster, but im close enough to where im willing to drive. im a 27yo, single man, and incredibly over this entire county. Theres so much i can complain about here in New Holland, but im just so exhausted after 5ish years of living out here, that i honestly just want suggestions on stuff to do.
Im looking for any suggestions about:
Entertainment
*classy* bars (not full of loud teenagers)
*cheap* bars (full of loud teenagers)
literally anything to do with dating
generally just stuff to *do* in or around the area
any communities i can get involved in (prefereably vaguely related to visual art)
Edit: forgot I need to clarify since this is reddit, so just in case, no, I don't literally mean teenagers, way to take it in the most bad-faith direction, guys -_-
Just a word of caution, I had booked the new Lancaster to Orlando route via breeze airlines for mid November. Weeks away and they moved the previously morning flight to 8pm. Not a good impression from the start…
I had a great barber who used to do an excellent job on my beard, but he moved out of state and have been looking for a new one with no success since. Most barbers seem to think that just because they can cut hair, they can cut/trim a beard as well. I'm a professional Santa so my beard is of prime importance to me and need to find someone to help me keep my beard in Santa Perfect condition.
Thanks
