Residential Solar Installers?

Residential Solar is often sold by 'sales companies' who go door knocking to generate leads and then sell them to contractors who actually do the work. Or companies that advertise on the web, etc... to generate demand, then hand it off to contractors. Who are the actual system installers here in central PA, and can you get a better price from them by cutting out the 'sales machine' companies?

How to Vote in Pennsylvania!

The Time to Vote is Here!

Here’s what you need to know:

1.	Polling Hours: Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you’re in line by 8 p.m., you are entitled to vote.

2.	Voter Registration: The deadline to register for this election was October 21, 2024. If you’re not registered, you won’t be able to vote in this election.
3.	Identification Requirements:
•	First-Time Voters: If you’re voting for the first time at your polling place, bring an acceptable ID. Acceptable forms include:
•	Pennsylvania driver’s license or PennDOT ID card
•	U.S. passport
•	Military, student, or employee ID
•	Voter registration card
•	Current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or government check with your name and address
•	Any ID issued by the Commonwealth or federal government

4.	Mail-In Ballots: If you have a mail-in or absentee ballot, it must be received by your county election office by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Delivering it yourself ensures it will arrive on time.

5.	Finding Your Polling Place: Polling locations can change, so verify yours in advance. Use the Pennsylvania Polling Place Locator to find your designated polling place. https://www.pa.gov/en/services/vote/find-your-local-polling-place.html

Voting is a powerful way to make your voice heard. Ensure you’re prepared and know your rights. For more information, visit https://www.vote.org/state/pennsylvania/

See you at the polls!

Bus from Carlisle to Community Aid in Camp Hill, and back

Can someone set me on the right path?

Is there one main bus option or several?

What would you estimate the cost of this, roundtrip?

Thanks

Facts about PA early voting... don't fall for misinfo

Re-purposing an earlier post of mine, hoping to clarify PA early voting questions.

Early voting in PA has been misrepresented by many sources and, as a result, has led to countless conspiracy theories surrounding election security. To clarify: the "early voting" process in PA is actually "in-person, on-demand mail-in voting." The reason Pennsylvania does not have the typical "early voting" process that several other states have is because of Act 77 in the PA General Assembly (2019). For more information on the legislative reasons why PA votes in this manner, please visit 2019 Act 77 - PA General Assembly.

Given the above, it is incredibly harmful that lies about voter suppression are being spread. The reasons for the long lines being seen at PA voting sites this week is because the process is not as simple as people are making it out to be. To vote "early and in-person" in PA, (1) you show up to your respective site, (2) fill out an application form for a mail-in ballot, (3) wait for that application to be processed, (4) be given your mail ballot, and (5) fill it out and submit. Keep in mind, you absolutely could have sped up this process by requesting a mail-in ballot long before election day. I am not trying to blame voters here. I agree, this process is incredibly frustrating and I wish real early voting existed in the state. But it doesn't. I am urging everyone to not participate in the intimidation of poll workers and the spreading of other conspiracy theories about PA elections. And while I am trying my absolute hardest to remain non-partisan, I do not think it should come as a surprise that the state is getting far more mail-in ballot requests than normal, considering one of the candidates spent the entire 2020 cycle telling their supporters that mail-in ballots were subject to fraud and not to be trusted only to reverse course in 2024.

Exercise your right to vote! Vote in the manner that makes most sense for you, whether it be in-person or mail-in. If you want to see changes to how our elections are conducted, contact your representatives. There are legitimate conversations to be had over voting in PA and the ability to vote early, but they are being completely drowned out by the conspiracy theories about early voting being suppressed.

PSA for anyone involved with the local Democratic Party

Two central Pennsylvania Democratic party members have found GPS trackers on their vehicles within the last week. The trackers with any information has been forwarded to the police department and the FBI. Both party members have recently been canvassing which may be when the trackers were affixed to their vehicles. Please have your vehicles checked for trackers and report all information to your local police department and FBI. There is no information these trackers can provide outside of terrorizing volunteers and their families. The perpetrators need to be found and stopped as soon as possible. Please spread the word and check your vehicles.

Android and Apple users can use the "Airguard" app to check their vehicles.

Stay safe!

Waste management recycling question

So we just moved to Cumberland County. We have waste management.

I put cardboard boxes out from moving, they took them but left a note saying they need broken down and tied. Some of the boxes were cut up and placed into other boxes. So cool. I’ll break them down. However, I’m not wasting time and tying them in bundles.

Can I cut them up and put the pieces in the big recycling tote they gave us and have them take it that way?

I’ve tried calling them since Monday and can’t get through to them.

GOOD HOLISTIC/BIOLOGICAL DENTIST IN PENNSYLVANIA, PA?

I’m looking for a holistic dentist that will try to be as less invasive to the tooth as possible! and if they are against root canals that even better!

I’m located in Northumberland PA, I’m willing to go even if it’s far.

I have 4 molars that need deep fillings, I’m only 16 and really don’t want to damage them any further. I also have pain from previous deep fillings in the other molars from another dental place.

ISO OCD specialist

I feel like this post is a little out of place compared to the rest on this sub but hoping someone can help. I’m looking for a good OCD specialist in Central Pa for teens. The Anxiety & OCD Treatment Center in Camp Hill seemed promising but they don’t take insurance at all so can’t do that. Anyone have any recommendations?

Missed Connection: Couple at HersheyPark

Hello!

I (20m) went to HersheyPark with my boyfriend (19m) this past weekend on Saturday (10/19/2024), about a week ago during the Dark Nights events. Around 10 pm, my boyfriend and I left the bathroom after washing our hands and saw these two male individuals (they appeared to be a gay couple like us). We ended up going to a haunted house and ending up directly behind them in line. They seemed like super cool people and we would love to connect with them. We are both super anxious and socially shy, so we did not make any initial moves besides exchanging some glances. As we were going through the haunted house directly behind them, one of the them pointed out a painting on the wall and said "Taylor Swift is here." They also pointed out Lizzo, and we laughed when we heard that and saw it for ourselves. When we laughed, they looked back and smiled at us. After the haunted house, the park was closed and we were headed in the same direction out of the park and into the parking lot. We continued to exchange some glances and smiles with them, and they would stop at each Dark Nights poster until we were close to them. Ultimately, they got into a Nissan Altima and we went to our own car filled with regret for not initiating a conversation. We know the chances are slim, but we are hoping one of them sees this message and recognizes that it was them! Some more information:

The first guy had brown hair and was wearing a black jean jacket and black pants, and the second guy had an orange prison jumpsuit costume with a white tank top underneath the jumpsuit jacket. From what we gathered, brown hair's name was Corey. My boyfriend first saw them get in line for SkyRush while we were about to get on it. We know it's not a lot to go off and that this is a long stretch, but we want to see if we can get in touch with them. If you know a Corey, ask them if they were in HersheyPark that day. If not, please leave an upvote or share the post. Let's see if the internet can work its magic.

Super niche local music question

Does anyone remember a band in 1997/1998 that played in York/Lancaster/Harrisburg called Crazy Susan? I’ve found one article from The York Dispatch that lists its core members as Karen Green, Jeannine Scarpato, and Cheri Steis. Anything helps!

Is there any place in our area to get a high end seven course meal?

Pretty self explanatory. I’m looking for top shelf cooking. Many small plates filled with flavor.

House hunting

How often do people waive inspections? I’m moving from the South and closing takes 2 months. I’m hearing it takes 10 days in PA. What should I expect?
