I've been walking back and forth in the halls of LGH and keep seeing this building but don't know what it is.
Hi everyone, I'm working on a new, Lancaster City digital magazine/project, and I'm reaching out for a photographer to capture photos around downtown Lancaster of a homeless, Sudanese male model for his portfolio and for a spread in the magazine. The concept of the project is to cover positive stories in Lancaster, and to help create opportunities and possibilities here in the city for those like the male model.
The model has an exceptional story of resilience and the power of a positive mindset, and has traveled many countries to finally make his home here in Lancaster City. He's a very, very good guy, currently safe and warm, and has agreed to the shoot and capturing his story.
I'm hoping to find a photographer that is willing to work pro-bono, as the magazine is currently just a concept at this time. However, if the right photographer has a fee, I am willing to fundraise to cover the costs. Currently finding a Lancaster fashion brand to provide clothing for the shoot and looking to shoot as soon as possible (for however long the photographer is willing to offer).
This shoot will help make the model's holiday, will be a great launch for the digital mag, and will be a great testament to the compassion of the city! Let me know if interested. Message me directly or leave a comment below. Additionally, if you have any contacts or ideas that can aide the project, please leave them below, as well.
Thank you!
Title says it all -- I struggle with symptoms of OCD and anxiety that get in the way of enjoying life, and I think this can lead to feelings of depression that come and go. I'm at the point where I'd like to see a specialist. I saw a general therapist for a couple years, but didn't feel like they helped much.
Do you guys have any recommendations for specialists in the area? I'm really interested in ERP exposure therapy as well as CBT for the anxiety/depression.
Thanks!!
Ease into New Year's Eve with a laid back house show, featuring Leon Majcen a up and coming voice/songwriter out of Nashville, coming off opening a couple national tours. He grew up in FL, after his family arrived from Serbia, as refugees when he was a child
Local Americana/Country/Bluegrass fave Andrew Pauls, will be opening. On top of his solo material, Andrew's been one of the driving forces behind the (not pop) Country scene re-emerging in town, organizing a couple Grand Ole Opry type ensemble shows at Upside & Zoetropolis, as well as playing the recently started Honky Tonk Mondays (twice a month) at Tellus
You can find both on streaming
I haven't attended Christmas mass since I was a kid, but it is my mother's wish to attend this year and I think it'd be very nice to do. What catholic churches in the area have the nicest service?
I have a ton of clothes and a couch I want to give away. Where can I take these?
Hi, I know this is probably a longshot, but does anyone know of someone or an organization who would be able to help with a stray cat I found recently. The cat showed up a few weeks ago, and had been been frequenting my yard often. I'm really concern about her witg hold how could it had been lately. I built her an insulated outdoor house but she didn't seem to use it. With the temps being in the mid 20s overnight this week, I decided to house her in our bathroom. But cannot care for her long term. Any help would be appreciated
Anybody know of someone who does waxing for men's areas?
Just saw 7 or 8 cop cars surrounding one car that was pulling in to the gas station. Just curious as to what was happening.. anyone know what's going on?
Any recommendations? Not from the area. Is Mifflinburg too far? We don’t mind a bit of a drive
I love cabalar and everything they have done and are doing in Lancaster. Definitely one of my favorite spots to go. But i wish they had a better place for their employees to smoke. I think it looks bad to see the employees outside smoking right to the side of the building which is basically right in front of the business wearing their kitchen attire, Aprons sometimes and work shirts often. I understand the building doesn't really have a back to it that is hidden away from public view but I don't think it lends a positive view.
I’ve been trying to find a place to play pool (other than round 1 at park city) and I haven’t had much success, anybody know of a good spot in the city?
I have spent the last few years dealing with chronic pain issues, and I think I am getting to a better place where light exercise is becoming easier. Planet Fitness seems like a good place to experiment with this since it is relatively cheap and not as hardcore as other places.
I am trying to decide between making my home gym Lititz Pike or Granite Run because I can easily swing by either one on my weekday commute home. Originally, my plan was to see both today, but I'm feeling a bit under the weather.
Can anyone tell me their eperience with one or both of these locations?
does anyone know where i can donate used coats directly into the community? i would do a thrift store donation but i prefer someone in need to get it for free. thanks!
Hi all! I have friends visiting who are vegetarian and I’d like to be accommodating. Any favorite places you would recommend?
As the title asks, I’m creating a list of bars and restaurants in the Lancaster City area that are open on Mondays! Can you help me out? Thanks.
Does anyone have a great location for finding Christmas Trees in the 14’ range? Previous years I have gotten my tree from Hunts Christmas Trees but they were not able to get any large trees this year!
Thanks!
Edit: good car tire place to replace tires* Found out I got two nails in my front wheel 🥹 not sure where to go without it costing so much
Hello I've been looking for MMA gyms in Lancaster/Harrisburg area and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?
Sanitation and cleanliness is number 1.
Ideally no gi, and not just bjj.
I've been searching in the local area and most seem like "McDojos" where the learning structure they use isn't engaging and they just seek profits, I've done other fighting schools as a teen and I'm trying to avoid similar gyms as it made me lose interest for the better part of a decade. Any recommendations would be awesome, thanks in advance
I (28M) currently live in the Harrisburg area and I've been having trouble meeting new people. I would love to meet new people for friendships and romance. I'm wondering if the Lancaster area is any better for people my age that aren't married or have kids, or just what the experience is with social events, opportunities to meet people that aren't married or have families, etc.
Is Lancaster a good place to live for single people in their late 20s/early 30s?
Looking for whole bean coffee roasters in the area. I know about Lancaster County Coffee Roasters, square one, Gerhart, New Holland Coffee Co, but I know more roasters have popped up fairly recently so just looking for options. I don't like passenger/neccessary coffee. Thanks!
Probably a little too late to change anyone's plans, but every black Friday, central market is open for the mayors tree lighting ceremony in the square. It's all hot chocolates and coffees and donuts and sandwiches and candy and what not. It's a low key, fun, neighborly time. I wish they did this more often than once per year.
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for recommendations for your favorite place to get a Christmas tree? I'd love a farm that's good for kids, has nice tree's, and bonus points if it's not too busy.
Thanks!
Who's your favorite reliable non price gouging leaf blower repair preferably someone who knows husqvarna products.
Title.
I see a lot for pizza, tacos, etc.
haven’t seen anyone spark discussion on best nachos.
Hi all, my kids and I want to go get our nails done in Lancaster somewhere that is LGBTQIA+ friendly. I used to go to a place in Lititz but it’s too far to go there anymore and I’d rather stay local. I’d also prefer some place that allows walk-ins, but I’ll also take suggestions for places that are by appointment only. TIA!
My 3 year old son is speech delayed and while he's making huge strides in his progress I notice his pronunciation can be quite off. I'd like to get his ears tested just for peace of mind- but I'm not sure where to go My pediatrician doesn't seem concerned so he's more or less blown off my requests for additional testing.
Do I need a referral? Does insurance cover it?
Is the test going to freak my son out?
Any info would be great!
