Halloween fireworks?

Since when do we allow fireworks on Halloween? And why were these fireworks way more obnoxious than anything we see on Canada day?

What's going on with squirrels?

Anyone notice a unusual amount of squirrels dropping dead? I'm in Fairview area and just noticed one in the ground unable to walk or move properly. I seen about 7 with no appearance of injury or anything. this is over a large area of Fairview. I would guess maybe poisoning but being multiple clusters in Fairview it's sad to think many people would be poisoning them.

Any place in town to order a cake that could be delivered by tomorrow?

I'm looking for a place where I can order a birthday cake for tomorrow. I know more time would have been better, but I completely forgot about the cake!! Anyone have any suggestions?

Fireworks in Huron

Lighting fireworks on the sidewalks and on the grass. No common courtesy for houses and cars that are nearby. Some fireworks even land on the other side of the street near the end of the video. Lots of garbage left …who’s going to clean this up??

Bugs that look like Cockroaches?

Any insect enthusiasts in the house?

Just saw what I truly hope is not a cockroach in the kitchen no less then 30min ago. Searched for bugs in Ontario that look like cockroaches and all I got was crickets, June bugs and some Beatles but this definitely isn't that...

We killed it an flushed it so I didn't get a picture; but it looked like a German cockroach, or an immature American or possibly a Turkish roach (downstairs neighbors just came back from Turkey so that could be it) so I'm hoping someone that knows native bugs can chime in with else it could be to ease my nerves.

It was light golden brownish, approximately an inch with antenna. Slender body, flat and I didn't count the legs but I've seen roaches it looked very similar.

This is the 1st we've seen.

Could this be anything else or should we call the exterminator?

TiA. Gonna cross post this for further feedback.

So is safety and common sense no longer common? 😭💀

Doon South Area. They were also running around launching fireworks down the street… I don’t understand how people just don’t understand safety at all… fireworks in the middle of the neighborhood… throwing flares around… I think some people just take advantage of days like this to cause trouble… sad part is there were adults there too and they didn’t do anything to stop them…

happy fuckin diwali to all you canadahousing2 posters

truly, one of my favourite holidays ever.

to those of you with anxious pets, young children, and other sensitivities I'd like to extend an extremely heartfelt apology. while I won't know what it feels like ever, there have been moments where I've had really intense anxiety so I can relate at least a little bit.

to the rest of y'all, complaining, and bitching, and lying, and defaming, individuals, I hope yall mald and seethe and cope and have a good fuckin night (and do call non emergency and bylaw since it is past 11:00 now). and with that, I take my leave of you losers

can anyone help me

My apartment expires on November 30th, but Rogers' contract ended on October 30th, and I had to cancel it because the renewal fee was going to be $100 a month. But there is no signal in my current apartment, causing my cell phone to be 3G, and I would like to ask if there is an internet that I can rent for a month for a short period of time? Or is there a better way?:(

Diwali doesn’t mean fireworks

To anyone lighting off fireworks on Diwali, stop.

I grew up celebrating Diwali and we never lit fireworks. There’s so much more to the holiday than lighting off fireworks, risking injury and property damage.

By doing this and being disrespectful of the law, you ruin the reputation of the holiday and all the people that celebrate. And the law clearly has many restrictions that prevent lighting fireworks at home, unless you live on a huge property.

We came to this country when it was important to be respectful and peacefully co-exist with your neighbours, many of whom have different traditions.

Not sure what’s happened recently but things need to change. It’s shameful people are taking advantage of the holiday to act like idiots and it’s disgusting that out of fear of “racism” local governments and bylaw officers don’t do anything.

That said, the same enforcement needs to happens for fireworks in general. It’s unnecessary and should always require a permit.

Don’t be selfish and smarten up.

Fireworks - Just Stop.

Enough is enough. The fireworks for “Diwali” have been going off now for a week and although they’re allowed until 11PM on 31-Oct, they aren’t allowed the remainder of the days.

We need to stop with the “educating” and start giving out tickets for abuse of the rules and laws. If it were any other individual or race putting fireworks off during periods when fireworks were prohibited, we’d be fined.

Children, Vets and animals are scared of these sounds and inconveniences. And I am a Vet. This is not what I expect of this country.

If you want to come here, you need to abide by our laws and our customs. Enough is enough.

Fireworks on the sidewalks/roads in Doon south.

Didn’t get a video but one family right beside my house was lighting the fireworks a foot on the road… they were also letting a very young child (couldn’t be older than 8) hold the fireworks as they were going off. A little common sense would go a long way here.

Full-sized candy for Traynor Ave Trick-o-Treaters because why not

I have lived on Traynor Avenue for 3 years and we don't typically get a lot of trick-o-treaters. At most 15 kids.

Since we don't get a lot of kids, last night I decided to get the trick-o-treaters full size candy from Costco! I mean, why not if there less kids, right?

I hope every had a good Halloween :)

No speed cameras for Kitchener

I just saw some city workers come down the “speed camera coming soon” signs so I went to talk to them. They’re taking down the signs because the City of Kitchener declined to participate in the program because all the revenue goes to the Region of Waterloo. So, I’m going to send an email to my Regional Councillors and my City of Kitchener councillor about it. While being about safety in school zones, which is a big concern, it should also be a way for the City to generate revenue for much needed programs that are under funded because of the over funding of Police. The region doesn’t need another tax grab, especially if they are also demanding more funding for Police from the Cities. Let the discussion begin!

Apartments for rent

Hey everyone, any good 2 bed apartment buildings I should consider under $2000 all inclusive? Will need 2 parking spaces but if not, can manage something. I've read a lot of negative reviews for all management companies such as hazelview, northfield garden, Capitol hill, metropolitan, greenwin, killmar (idk if that's the right name). Any help would be appreciated 👍

Leaves for garden

I'm in Forest Heights and we don't have lovely mature trees like most of our hood. Wondering if anyone has some bagged stuff I can use to mulch my garden beds for the winter. I missed hitting up my neighbors before pickup. No sprays is ideal.

Cheers
