Hi. Our hydrangeas (on multiple properties, and multiple varieties) all kind of sucked last season.
Wondering if this was a result of the company we hired previously to prune them back or if other folks also had a lesser producing year due to the odd weather.
I have been speaking more with some American friends and I am shocked at what they think tariffs are. They don;t seem to understand what a tariff is, who pays them, and how they will affect prices. They seem to think we will pay the cost of the tariff in cash and it will end up in their bank accounts. Is it just because Trump has and is liying to them or do they not really know? But when I speak with my Canadian friends they fully grasp mostly what tariffs mean, do and cost. Any thoughts?
Hello all,
I just learned that my recently deceased father was a sperm donor for about 10 years from early 70s-early 80s in Southern Ontario.
I was wondering if anybody knows how far his samples travelled before use, and what regulations were at the time for how many times they could be used. Would they be used in the same city? Province?
Also if anybody has insight into how long they stored and use the samples (to give me an idea of how old potential biological half-siblings might be) that would also be of interest.
Thanks for any insights! Just wondering if I were to do an ancestry.ca DNA kit, if any possible relatives from this sperm donation would be from close to home or far away etc etc etc.
Looking for a luxurious, romantic weekend getaway within a few hours of London. Nature, views, spa, good food and drinks. No budget but also want the best bang for my buck!
Thank you!
Checked the Elections Ontario website for Simcoe North.
No Liberal candidate
No NDP candidate
Just PC and Green
Guess I'm voting Green.
Fuck this riding and fuck these parties for abandoning progressives
So it's not a total secret that North America isn't excellent when it comes to regulating what is put into foods. There are so many processed foods with lots of ingredients we don't fully understand in terms of how they might impact human health long term. I did however notice that when I recently went to the Loblaw's chain T&T it seemed that a lot of food items that are imported overseas for the brand seem to be total chemistry experiments when you look at their ingredient lists. Even basic things like tea that should contain very few additives seems to contain ingredients like potassium citrate, mono/di-glycerides, hydrogenated palm oil etc. How strict is Ontario/ Canada when it comes to regulating imported food items? Is it generally more risky to consume imported food items or is the regulation about the same?
I've heard that Canada Post has said they've caught up with mail since the strike but I'm convinced they haven't. Either that or they threw away a bunch of mail. I'm missing letters that I should have recieved in late November and early December!
It has occurred to me that our current form of taxation benefits homeowners disproportionately to renters. With property taxes so low, cities are continually demanding more money from our provincial/federal government, this funding primarily coming from Income tax and Sales tax.
My logic is, all homeowners tend to directly benefit from provincial/federal investment by appreciation of property value which offsets the costs of homeownership. Where as a renters sees none of this appreciation.
Renters have no bargaining power, No laws or protection on market rate of rent - a home is valuable not because the homeowner expertise, but the economic opportunities available creating a market based on who has the biggest wallet not who is actively partaking in the communitiy.
Yes, landlords can only raise rent by a certain amount in existing contracts but can increase what ever they want if the tenant leaves or the evict them thus creating a finiancial incentive to owners to have high turnover rates creating further insecurity.
Now, I'd like to propose that we implements a license for being a landlord and treat it like all other professions. Structured in a way to create
High level investment required to maintain or operate rental units
Accountability - layout a program that landlords must complete in order to have license. This would state what minimum standards required for a building to be seen a fit to live.
Penalties - create framework or financial penalties for those who fail to meet standards
Fee structure - have landlords pay fees to fund an agency to oversee any and all properties to protect both investor and tenants. (Bill the landlord as they can structure that cost into rent)
Court System - someone has to make the final say
Which one of these do you think would better serve the people in Ontario?
In recent month your issues have really dominated the political discourse in Ontario, the economy, which is always the case, and immigration.
I'd like to get people's opinion on what the route to economic growth is given that many people here are advocating for moving away from reliance on the United States. That's going to be very very difficult as Ontario is essentially a branch-plant economy, and always has been
Immigration has also been a major issue and I don't see how the economy can grow without it. We obviously cannot rely on domestic demand to maintain our current standards and would need a new trading partner. Would you guys be cool with it being another country ? China? I know Aaron O'Toole was advocating The canzuk Alliance back in 2021, The economist floated Canada becoming a member of the European Union. None of these would be as smooth as being the main trading partner with the most productive economy in the world. Who happens to be your geographic neighbor, but it is something you need to look at if you want to reduce reliance on the United States
Or is the best way? Just waiting it out getting these tariffs out of the way and going back to normal?
My main question is what would you prefer? Canada and Ontario do in its trade relations going forward?
Please post your rants, discussions, opinions, etc in this thread.
Hey guys,
I live in the Toronto area but willing to travel. Has anyone here done trap tox? I deal with chronic headaches, neck pain, etc and have been wanting to see if this will help short term to dull down the pain.
Post a US product that you want to find a Canadian alternative of.
Or, post a solid Canadian alternative product or business to US ones.
Keep it friendly and supportive!
Why don't I see the other candidates going hard campaigning right now? Haven't seen a single ad. They're making no effort. Social media is super quiet as well.
How can we get people more informed to vote?
Wouldn’t it make economical sense for Ford Motor Company to relocate their American car factories to Ontario to avoid the tariff back and forth? We could offer TFW jobs to the Americans who work in the industry, better beer and 4 years of fun while the US sorts itself out. When alls said and done we can go back to the way it is now. No hard feelings with our neighbour. Full disclosure I’m Albertan so I don’t know the ins and outs of automobile industry only that truck go vroom vroom.
The company never reached out to me to notify me of the debt, I just all of the sudden started getting calls and emails from the collectors. I believe in Ontario a company has 2 years to collect a debt, after that it's null. Am I wrong about that? And if not, how do I deal with this?
EDIT: in the title, I meant DEBT not SENT
Does anyone know if it’s possible to find graduation records from Ontario/canadian colleges & universities? Short of calling the registrar’s office. Looking for one many years back of a family member, not myself. Thanks!
