Growing apples in Indian climate...

I looked up the internet for different ways to grow apples from seeds, but most results do not factor in the indian climate. I have a well-ventilated balcony with small pots about 8-12 in diameter... I want to try an apple bonsai if thats possible. let me know if there are any questions...

Root rot or just stained roots? Recently repotted new Thai con from super dense soil. Roots looked healthy from what I could see, but the density of the soil meant I couldn't remove all of it. Been abt 48hrs since repotting. Early sings of rot or just residual dirt/staining?

Rosemary Varieties

It will be interesting to see what people say here regarding their favorite varieties of rosemary to use in the kitchen.

In the past, I think that I have tasted only common rosemary. I was surprised to learn that there are so many different types out there. Some claim they can not tell much difference in flavor between different ones.

After some online searching, it seems there are just a handful that are often suggested when it comes to cooking.

Blue Tuscan seems like the most popular, by far.

Spice Island sounds like an excellent option for someone who might want a more bold flavor.

Barbeque was mentioned just enough to get my attention.

Here is a link that I found to be the most helpful of the 50 or so that I skimmed.

Help with understanding light levels and needs

Hi all! I'm a novice gardener, and I just moved from a place with a yard to one without 🥺

I am fortunate enough to have a VERY sunny living room, with the entire North and West walls of the room covered in floor-to-ceiling windows, and hope to resume my attempts at growing food here. Assuming I do not use grow lights, what might I be able to grow? I've heard that herbs and leafy greens do well enough indoors, so I'll certainly begin there, but in a perfect world I'd like to grow squash, beans, and tomatoes as I used to- and maybe even a dwarf fruit tree of some description? The ceiling looks to be about ten feet high.

Thank you for taking the time to read. I would be grateful for any advice or input you have.

How to start gardening with little space and money?

I love plants; however, as I am in a dorm, I have limited space for any plants I would grow. Not only that, but the only plant I've ever had was an aloe plant, which isn't currently in my possession (said aloe is still alive and has had 11 babies by now). I unfortunately only have a part-time job and between that and the holidays and saving to pay off college, I don't particularly have a ton of money for plants. Anything that I can grow in a small area for relatively cheap? Any help would be wonderful.

Looking for hydroponics towers that don't need an app to work fine

Hello! I have gotten pretty good with my aerogarden, and am ready to try a hydroponics tower. I do not, however, want anything that I HAVE to have an app or membership to get decent results- in fact, an option for no wifi at all would be nice (but probably not realistic). What systems are folks using, and how hard is it to DIY things like seed pods, planting medium, etc?

(Photo of the aforementioned aerogarden included for the photo tax, plus the basil that started in the aerogarden and got banished to its own pot)

Is this rotten? Yucca

Hello! Many of my plants got root rot this winter, including my yucca, she had enough sun, but not direct sunlight. Not only the roots were affected but the stem too. I did cut the stem until it was white, added some cinnamon to disinfect the cut and left it to dry first 24h, then put her in a glass of water. I changed the water every day but after a few days it rotted again, turned brown and mushy where i cut it. Now i want to try to repot her in perlite, so i tried to cut the stem again and now it looks like this(picture). It has this brown circle in the middle that is wet and soft (my nail can go thru it), is this still root and i have to cut some more or its ok and is like this because i kept her in water?

Devastated…sad cat

One of my prolific producers on my hydrogarden was recently hit by thrips or aphids. I killed them all, but they might’ve gotten my plant. What are your folks feelings on this guy surviving or should I just start a hot pepper plant? What do you think? I have more garden down in the basement that is untouched so far.

This bad boy was pumping out like a fist full of tomatoes a day typically :(

Help - What is happening with my ZZ plant?

So the leaves on this stem are all losing their color. It’s been sudden, like over the last week. They’ve also started to curl over the last couple of days. Temp in the house isn’t fluctuating, I water it every couple weeks once the soil is dry (I read they like to dry between waterings) and it’s in between a window and to the side of a grow light for my other plants. I’ve had it for a few months and it’s been growing very well, but now I’m seeing this. What’s going on?

What fruits and vegetables that do well potted indoors?

My daughter really likes to garden and we have a communal plot. We live in the dead center of Pennsylvania and winters are brutal here. We have a lemon tree and a basil plant. Since grocery prices have gone up why not pinch some pennies while encouraging her hobby.

Grow light questions

Hello,

Total beginner. I noticed my seedlings are WAY light starved as they are leaning towards light until they die. So I bought a light. I had limited resources and still can't find much. I got a BOOST LIGHTING 12.6-in 1-Light Silver 105-Watt Full Spectrum LED Grow Light Kit but am now reading that it is overkill and will actually kill my plants? Does anyone have an easy way of explaining this and can say if I messed up or not?

P.s. I know the specs are 5000 Kelvin's and 16000 lumens.

Basil going crazy

Had it for a month, was less than half the size it is right now. I already cut half and it survived, just to grow twice as fast and healthy!🥹😍
