hi guys we borrowed one of these from a friend
hubby connected the outlet hose to the back of the unit fine, but now we need to pack it up and it feels stuck on there. like when he put it on it just clicked into place. i'm worried about breaking it if we just give it a good pull. does anyone have any tips?
I want it to be as quiet as possible. And I don't care it's a smart one or not or if it has an app or not since I assume almost all of them nowadays come with a remote. I just want it to be as quiet and efficient as humanly possible. Also, I'm just in a small room for rent so it's not a big room at all, and it's only one room that is always shut 24/7.
Also I am perfectly fine with used like new or excellent condition used, as long as it's on Amazon and as long as it's $350 or less.
NOTE: It has to be on Amazon because the only extra money I have right now is on my Amazon gift card balance, and it's $350 on there.
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I recently bought an apartment with a split system. I don't use the air conditioner at all really, but I turned it on once during a really hot day and heard a really loud dripping, crackling/popping sort of sound from in the aircon unit and behind the wall immediately below the air conditioner.
I called Daikin who sent out a technician, who tested the line by pouring in water, blowing it etc. It all seemed fine and was letting water out through the pipe outside, but basically he was concerned that the line/pipe behind the wall might be kinked. I can actually feel the drip drip drip if I put my hand over the top of where the water drop lands.
I haven't seen or felt any damp at all, but the dripping sound is constant whenever I turn the aircon on. So my question is, what do I do now? Do I call a plumber to heat map the area and make sure there's no damp? Do I call someone in to take out a bit of the wall to check? I'm at a bit of a loss as to next steps, and how serious this could possibly be if the line IS kinked.
Edited to add I live in a relatively temperate climate, though with a few hot days, and while I don't use airconditioning I'd like to eventually rent this place out to tenants so want to make sure all is working and safe.
So my mom likes to keep the house at 61 consistently. She says someone told her that’s the best way to save money on your bill. It’s way too fucking cold. Is that really true? Or wouldn’t it be better to just turn it a bit higher when we’re home and to lower it when we leave? Or even keep it at 65 or something. 61 is insane though or am I tripping ?
Hi all, not sure if I’m in the right spot but any help would be appreciated, have a Hitachi RAS-5HVNC1 displaying a 04 fault, Abnormality between Inverter PCB and Outdoor PCB. anyone have any information on testing PCBs please!!!
I have a daikin reverse cycle inverter floor unit that in summer freezes over constantly. This happened in just 30 minutes and happens every time I use this unit. Outdoor temp is currently 32 degrees so it’s not too cold to run. I had a very expense technician come to look at it recently and he “checked everything” only to tell me the fins (?) needed a good clean so he used a compressed water machine to clean it and that was it. Please help - it’s hot as balls and I spent over $400 for a service that did sweet fuck all.
We've had reverse cycle AC for a few years, but the control panels are awful and have no way to remote control or manage them. Not even with a basic infra-red RC. Lame.
Well that's no entirely true, there is another option. The primary controller (first pic below), which controls temperature, fan speed, heat / cool etc has an option to upgrade to a touchscreen that connects to WIFI (and can be managed via a shitty web app) with a subscription. We were given the option to include it prior to having the AC installed.
The problem is that it was going to cost an extra $1300 for the privilege (including 1hr installation), and from the pics on the brochure (which I've since lost) it was clearly just a cheap $50 Android tablet running their ugly-ass propriety software that looked like the design was inspired by Windows 95. So I decided not to spend my hard earned dollars for an upgrade that was clearly a rort, and I worry about upgrade options in the future.
Well that time is now. I've got a bunch of spare time in my hands, and so I am wondering if anyone knows of any successful attempts to swap out their dated basic control panel for a DIY solution, preferably with an Android tablet running some open source software.
For the past 23 years I've been writing code and designing interfaces for the web for a living, and so I'm no stranger to getting my hands dirty in that department.
Note: the secondary controller in the second picture simply opens and closes the vents (low, medium, high and off basically controls how much airflow allowed through each zone). My goal included being able to control that from the same touchscreen interface.
Can anyone do a visual model identification on this Carrier unit on the roof of my condo? It is a combined heater and AC unit.
I’m installing a Senville Leto mini-split system. Directions call for me to wrap the refrigerant lines, control cable and drain hose in supplied tape. I’ve seen references to it being UV protector and also insulation. it’s a thin, non-adhesive “tape” about and inch and half wide, Feels like a wide ribbon. Without adhesive on it, it seems like it would hold poorly. But my question is if I’m running all the copper lines (already insulated) and cable, drain hose in a raceway, completely covered, do I need to wrap the pipes?
how to test board inverter LG?
Hi,
My HVAC died on me last October. I am in southern Mississippi, very hot and humid much of the year. The AC company didn't find the leak but said it's likely major and not fixable so I need 9000 for a new system. I just don't have the money period. In fairness, it's a 40 year old Carrier unit that has run like a champ.
They said the following:
They would have to fill it with freon to check for a leak
The Freon for my HVAC would be around 800.00 as it is the older type and more expensive
Given that it was running fine and then suddenly started getting warmer they think it's a major leak
They brought be a portable because my living room is all sliding doors, no windows. I can put window AC in my 2 bedrooms if need be. The portable is not a great solution - it cools if you are sitting right in front of it but that's about it. The bedrooms would need their own. The other issue is that it overflowed one time already and I'm in an upstairs condo, so not a good thing ;-) It does vent to outside and has a drain hose but it runs from the bottom and doesn't seem to pump out that much water.
Sorry this is long....my condo has been mine for 10 years but my mom died and the executor of her trust wants to take away what was supposed to be my property, it's a mess. So, even if I had 9,000 I couldn't replace it now because I could lose my home at some point.
I live in Mexico half the year and will leave in March. Normally the AC is set to about 85 and that works and there are no mold growths or issues. However, this year is a real challenge.
Does anyone have ideas on how to keep the house at some sort of temp that will not encourage serious mold growth? I'm sure running window units 24/7 would be expensive with no one here. Plus that portable worries me.
If anything sounds like it might be able to be done/checked on my HVAC please let me know.
I truly appreciate this forum! I'm pretty desperate for ideas and wondering if I have missed anything. The keys are that the house will be vacant, a friend can check from time to time. I would love to rent it out but can't due to the HVAC situation.
Thank you!!
Laurianne
Hi. Since I'm working fully remote, I'm planing on converting a bathroom into an office at my apartment. My main worry right now is on how to cool the room during the summer as it can get quite hot, and I'll be mainly locked on it because I have two toddlers running 24/7.
Right now I'm thinking on two options. The first one is to add a split unit, which can get quite expensive as it will require to break a few walls to pass the lines, or the second one is to add a portable a/c unit, which is a problem because I don't know what to do with the exhaust.
Since the room is a bathroom, it has a exhaust system for the humidity, but it's a long run, 10 to 15 meters. I don't think a portable a/c unit would be powerful enough to push the air on this exhaust system. There is any work around? Maybe a fan to help the unit push the air that is turned on every time the a/c turns on?
Hello, I'm currently undergoing some remodeling and was adviced to change the whole AC unit. They gave an estimate and wanted to ask what do you guys think, is it a good price? Is there any questions i should be asking?
Can anybody help me find where to purchase replacement filters for my Toshiba aircon unit RAS-13NKP-A2. The part number is 43T80311, any help would be much appreciated!! My dog chewed the right hand assembly and I can’t find replacements anywhere. If you could point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks :)
I’m looking to install an AC in my two-story, 4-bedroom, 2000 sq. ft. home in the Seattle area. We have a gas furnace with existing air ducts. I mainly need it for the wildfire smoke season and the few hot weeks in summer. The quotes I’ve received from different companies seem quite expensive. What would you recommend for an AC system under $10K? I’m considering options like central AC, heat pumps, or mini-splits. Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Hi,
got a Daikin 3X1 Multi split installed
3MXM40A9 with 3 CTXM15A Perfera All Seasons
they are working fine in heating mode, and in cooling mode. However one IU is not cooling. when I put this unit to dry or cool, the other units switched off, the air coming out has room temperature. after a while Unit shuts down with a U0 error.
had the technician, who installed the units, came here twice, he measured the pressure, and low was 8bars and high 30bars. total tube length ins 22m. he said, the pressure is perfect. he indicated that Daikin should look at this. on the other side, from his experience with their service, they just would change and weight the gas. he insisted that there is no problem with the gas.
today I did some testing putting the Unit in cooling mode and took the picture. unit is drawing 500-600W.
Why is the cold ❄️ not going to the IU (UnitB), but heat does?
it is driving me crazy.
My ac shut down on its own after atleast 10 mins, when i turn it on again it will shut down after few minutes. theres no error showing. Any advice? Thank you
If it makes any difference, I’m asking in the UK how long split AC refrigerant lines should last?
Suggestions online seem to vary wildly from 20-100 years.
New ac installed and noticed this behind the new unit outside. Will this set up be an issue? Condensation drip line is right over over new part
Need something good for long term, any advice?
I need help finding the AC for my apartment currently there is one that's kind of a window unit but it's below the window. But I need one for my bedroom for whenever it gets hot because I live in Southern us. I don't want a window unit or anything that has to go outside because I live in an unsafe neighborhood, is there anything I can get that would cover 500 ft and work really well I get hot super easily
My boiler broke and I'm looking to get a furnace and A/C installed instead of getting a replacement. I've had 3 quotes, one at $10,200, one at $27,231, and one at $30k. The $10k estimate is from a self-employed person who I've had do some smaller projects for me in the past. However, I have my concerns about the size of this project being tackled by one person. The fact that his estimate is less than half the ones from the corporations honestly makes me more concerned that he underestimates the project itself and the time it's going to take. Is such a large disparity between quotes normal for blue collar work? Does anyone have advice on whether I should trust the self-employed guy over the corporation?
Hi everyone
I have an inverter checker that says it's "exclusive for Mitsubishi electric ac products", however looking at the Daikin inverter analyser all of the resistors etc are the same.
Question is; can I use my "Mitsubishi electric" inverter checker on other systems??
Landscapers put rocks around the bottom of the ac unit , should I remove will this hinder its performance ?
