I'm not a fan of anyone, but recently I got into some documentaries on YT about the beef between these two, because I like this type of content.
I'm curious in your opinions about the reasons of their beef.
From what I understood is that most of their beefs are because of misinformation, misunderstanding...I guess 2 Pac felt betrayed after Biggie got high, mostly because of him and didn't got any official credit for it, the guy even cover for Biggie's weapons. Then Biggie suspected 2 Pac when he got robbed and later 2 Pac suspected Biggie for the shootout.
I guess we will never know the complete true because 2 Pac friends are pointing at Biggie and Biggie friends pointing at 2 Pac. Is just sad that were so young and talented, I still listen to their music.
I have seen a bit of hate or dislike where people are referring to a song called “Grippy” on here. If I am correct, it’s the song “Grippy” by Cash Cobaine and J. Cole. In my personal opinion, I like this song. I’m not huge about it, but I don’t think it’s very bad. What’s the deal? Can anyone practically explain what is specifically bad about this song? Or can anyone come out and say that they like it too?
It seems like the better someone is, the more difficult it is to be noticed. Compared to the more generic and objectively AND subjectively less artistic, well written, creative, and the people that have the most fans either don't write their music or have a team of people that do, and they're not doing anything that is difficult to do or holds any value because anybody can rhyme one syllable and make up a life that they wish they had on wax. It's like the faker one is, the more likely they are to be successful. The BETTER one is, it's criminal sometimes people like Nino Bless, who cosigns me, have a few thousand followers. The best MCs get the least attention. Even in sharing them. It's be like the worse a cool one is, the more chance they have of running as head chef. It's not a merit based employment, and wearing all of the hats that a label can just auto for you as an autistic person with zero business acumen in exchange for a creative genius this side of a fused Eminem and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I don't understand.
I'm a fan of both but interested to know who do you think had the better overall catalogue? Channel Live definitely had the bigger single of the 2 duos with Mad Izm
There are many well-documented fall-offs in Rap. Contrary to this, I am interested in learning about your opinions concerning the greatest improvements MCs have shown over the years. What album / mixtape / EP showcases the improvement?
This topic came to my mind after revisiting Mac Miller's discography (I am not too familiar with his catalogue.). In his case, the mixtape Faces feels like a huge improvement over the already solid Watching Movies With The Sound Turned Off to me. In my opinion, this is the project on which he fully came into his own creating more introspective music. This defined the latter part of his career. Another example that came to my mind is Mobb Deep's The Infamous which surpasses Juvenile Hell in all aspects. On the Infamous, the group found its signature »Reality-Rap-Style« and established themselves among NY's greatest MCs. Before that, Mobb Deep were merely seen as random teen Rappers with some productions from Large Professor and DJ Premier.
The ones I think of are Eminem fans and Denzel Curry fans. I was shocked that both fanbases get along so well and respect each other
To elaborate I'm referring to a track where the hook is rapped rather than sung.
With this said, I find myself rapping the hook to "Damn!" by The YoungBloodZ more often than I care to confess, haha.
I was going recently through some west coast music. ie: e-40, ice cube, ect. I've been pleasantly surprised how well it aged. who do you feel like music has aged well? and also who hasnt?
Are you listening to Pac with your heart or your head? If you listen with your head he's a great artist. If you listen with your heart, you'll get to know him. In the song "Starin' Through My Rear View", he says: "Turn to smith and wesson war weapons Heavenly father I'm a soldier, I'm gettin hotter Cause the world's gettin colder, baby let me hold ya Talk to my guns like they fly bitches All you bustas best to run look at my bitches".
Now listen to the song "Me and My Girlfriend". Every age that he lists is a different caliber of pistol ammo. That song isn't about a woman, it's a tribute to his weapons. They provided him with comfort, security, and protection. They made him feel safe. He never met a woman that was able to give him that kind of peace, during his life.
G.O.A.T. end of discussion.
Help settle this for us.
Hey guys- got a long weekend ahead of me with work and wanted to make a list of albums to listen to to get through. Here’s what I got so far to show the kind of vibe I’m feeling:
I’m talking specifically about people or brands named after people.
Johnny Dang.. Mr Clean.. Jimmy Choo.. Halle Berry.. feel like I hear about her in particular in every other song lol
Sean P and Percee P are two rappers who I understand every syllable as how it’s supposed to be pronounced, they don’t manipulate words to fit their scheme. Example: famous MTV Eminem interview about rhyming words like “orange and silver” but really he’s just defines alliteration of making other words kinda sound like those colors.
On my mind because put on old Kanye albums I own became a user claimed Kanye is a top-tier LYRICIST, yet the stories are often easy to follow and he will use stuttering syllables to extend until his beat comes around again. More alliteration than actual rhyme patters with things like “Sing-Lay” for single, etc. So fuck lyricism, give me your favorite textbook pronunciation vs favorite saying any word however they need to fit the rhyme pattern rapper?
Names like G. Yamazawa and Imani Pressley are already familiar to me, so I'm mainly searching for deep pulls who may or may not be simmering right now.
Hottest Jay Elec lines?

Havent seen a single gangsta rap song pop off during the 2020s, do yall think its dead?
I am listening to E. 1999 Eternal for the first time in probably 20 years. I forgot how hard this album hits.
What song or songs have a unique flow, hook/chorus? (Or beat, baseline, vocals, lyrics, etc.) Something that's catchy, something you have never heard before in any song. A new sound you'll never forget. Unique. I'll start...
My Own Zone- Tech N9ne, Futuristic, Dizzy Wright
Heart- Joey Cool, Doobie
Candy & Dreams
Dope
Dog House- Yelawolf
Looking for albums that have some of the best lyricism. Any recommendations?
Hey is there any other songs you guys can recommend were pac is flowing with a similar bounce like he does on same song.
It’s dope to hear him riding the beat.
I hadn’t heard same song in over 20 years and didn’t remember his part like that.
I am learning french. I love to use music as a tool, and I am looking to find more rappers in this language.
I have listened so far: Rocca Saïan Supa Crew Iam Scred connexion ATK
What other artists do you think I should explore?
Edit, thanks for the suggestions
Title
This could include the homegrown talent that came up there, introducing new sounds or language, individuality, etc. You can be biased- after the top 2 there’s no real right answer. And add as many as you want
I think I’d go: New York L.A. Atlanta Houston (more important to me at least) Chicago New Orleans Bay Area Memphis Detroit Philadelphia Miami
I first heard of him on a funny interview I saw where he seemed like a fun, like-able guy.
Then I started to hear his music everywhere. I get it recommended a lot on Spotify too.
Anyway I looked up a little of his backstory and he seems legit like he was down bad and grinded to get where he is now… even tho how he came out of nowhere has industry plant vibes a bit.
Curious what others think of him. His music is pretty catchy and kinda feel-good. I’m a fan.
Edit- yeah I listened to him a good amount this week… and I think I have already had enough. Yall were right. That one flow gets repetitive
I recently discovered Little Simz's music, and I'm really enjoying it! She is incredibly talented.
Would it be emceed or MCed?
Thanks
One of the craziest features I’ve heard in a long time, the rhymes, bars, and flow is perfect for the beat.
“Storyteller selling Snow White, weed, even Cinderella.”
“I can make the devil sell his soul to me, give it all back to jehova, bring you right back to the street.”
“From a city where 2pac popped two cops.”
