This is gon be crazy 😭😭 but lil nas x ain’t a horrible artist
What's the name of the song please?
What are some chicano or Mexican rappers y'all listen to?
Let me hear them bangers!
I’m looking for artists from different countries with impressive technical skills who might not be as well-known in English-speaking circles.
On the new Gibbs track "status", the melody on the first half is literally just the melody from "Insomniak" by Mac miller. Like it's literally the same thing. Also, at the beginning of the second part, the alarm sound is the same used in "just in time" by JID, Kenny mason, and Lil Wayne.
Personally, it’s Drunk and Hot Girls off Graduation. I mean, we can all agree that this song sucks, it sounds like the bad songs on watch the throne, donda or the life of Pablo, not graduation, a grand, epic album filled to the brim with classics like Stronger, Flashing Lights and of course, Good Life, and then this is just slapped in the middle of it, alongside Barry Bonds, which is also bad. If he just cut out those two, it would be a perfect 10/10. What’s yours?
I have a friend who's going through a tough time right now and since she's struggling, I thought I'd try and find her some good lyrics about doing better than you were before to kinda make it look like it's not hopeless without sounding corny. lol Any that are by women would be helpful and the better the wordplay, the more she'll like it. Thanks in advance y'all! -FG Edit: if we can find one that's kind of like "put my past in the past" it'd be helpful. Kind of like terrible things have happened in my past but I'm not there anymore and things are gonna get even better. Too specific?
I love his music but I never hear about people talking about him. He’s one of my favorite.
For a long time, Vegas battle rap held down the west coast with battlers from all across the map. Tis’ was some historical shit in my city lowkey not gon hold you.
Any thoughts on this if y’all remember?
Hi all!
I've never really been into rap until recently when I started to listen to Ren, and Kpop (I know, pretty unconventional way to get into it). My fav kpop groups taught me that rap can be extremely poetic and deep, talking about mental health, social constructs etc. So I've been trying to get into the roots of hiphop, afro American rap. But I'm having a hard time.
I really enjoyed J-cole his verse on J-hope his track On the Street. But I've been trying to dig into J-cole, Nas (Illmatic), Cardi B etc and all I can find are tracks about drugs, sex, the hood, shooting people and carrying weapons and I just can't get into it because I just didn't grow up into that environment. I can appreciate the word play and influence but it's not something I'd play in my car.
I do like some Juice Wrld songs because of the tone, I like Lil Nas X and again I loved that j Cole verse in On the Street.
So my question: could I have some recommendations of relevant artists/tracks that have interesting flows, deep lyrics about social constructs etc or are just catchy with some meaning?
Tryna make a party playlist , Does anyone have any recommendations!!? Help ya boy out gang
Remixes welcome
I’m not into old school
I’ll start… Meryl Street
Mine is Tapdance. It was on a DJ Green Lantern mixtape called Invasion Part 3. It’s by Redman featuring someone called Icarus. It’s one of my all time favorite songs but I don’t see it mentioned anywhere on google or Wikipedia. Had to dig into YouTube to find it (thank you pirates). I also had to dig to find Eminem’s Any Man & Stor Crazy. I assumed they were on the Slim Shady LP. What are some other songs that are hard to find or underrated gems?
I’ve heard the “white girl” explanation but why specifically MBB? She seems to be the most popular when it comes to referring to drugs.
Which rappers are just plain bad at hooks or you can tell avoid hooks like the plague. Doing their own hooks. I know some write the hook for another to sing.
Been thinking about that about a rapper for awhile and the latest project has 3-/11 done by himself.
Is bigx out of his league? Maybe his lyrics just hit with me hard or something but damn…
For reference my top artists would be
1.pac then biggie 2.j.cole and Kendrick 3.juicy j (I know this is a personal list) 4.21 and Kodak 5.Kanye
I think big x is already about #3 here
LL COOL J dropped a phenomenal album produced by Q-Tip
Ghost Face Killah dropped a solid album
Rakim dropped a solid album
Eminem having a solid comeback with 2 great features and a good album
Ice Cube just dropped a banger
Snoop Dogg has a squeal to his best album dropping produced entirely by Dre
Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy album or Glorilla’s Glorious album?
I know both are very different, but I love the way Glorilla raps and I feel like I can shake my ass the entire time I listen to her new album lol.
Cardi B has some great songs on IOP too, but I think Glorilla takes the cake for me.
bro who genuinely put on headphones and listens to playboy carti cant even undertaand what bro says in his songs
He calls ATL when he need a check balance
I'm curious about which rap albums would be most persuasive for someone who hasn't connected with rap music yet. If you wanted to showcase the artistry, depth, and diversity within the genre, which five albums would you choose?
Mine would be
- Capital Punishment
- Illmatic
- Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
- It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
- The Infamous
- Eminem: The Marshall Mathers LP
- The Low End Theory - A Tribe Called Quest
For me, it's Ye, Dre, and Madlib
For me it’s Lil Wayne and J Cole. They only have one song together “Green Ranger” on Weezy’s Dedication 4.
My two favorite rappers and two goats at that and they only have one record together. I wish they had more songs but really a collab album. I was never interested in the Kendrick Cole Collab. But Wayne and Cole pushing each other on every record of a EP would be sofi 🔥
One can only dream lol
West Coast hits have such a classic sound that isn’t very hard to recreate. Yet, I can’t think of any mainstream Cali hit from recent times that really capture that sound. The closest thing I think of is Rap Fellas by nipsey hussle, but thats a bit more modern sounding and that’s not even the biggest song off his album
NLU blew up and people were c-walking to it, I personally heard it all over Compton and it’s broken multiple records so there’s clearly still a market for West Coast bangers, where are they at?
