Christmas Lights

Just wondering if there are any neighborhoods that go all out for Christmas, that you can walk/drive thru. Doesn't need to have music with the lights, just looking for somewhere to go to enjoy them through out the season.

Best guitar setups?

I have no complaints with Long & McQuade but I'm curious if anyone has other recommendations.

Lost & confused

I (23m) have no post secondary education & have just been working since graduating high school, I do like my job but it will not pay enough for my future. As far as careers go I have no idea what I want to do for the rest of my life but I need structure & a path towards success. What are your recommendations for any courses or actions that might help change my life around?

The Pulse or Dalewood recreation center?

I’ve been working out at Crunch Fitness for a while, but I’ve noticed it can get quite busy, and there’s not enough of the equipment I need. I’m now looking at The Pulse (McMaster’s gym) and Dalewood Recreation Center as potential alternatives.

I live near Dalewood, so having a gym close by would be great, but I also want to make sure it meets my fitness needs. Does anyone know if Dalewood Recreation Center or The Pulse offers more equipment, a variety of classes, and whether they’re less busy compared to Crunch?

I’m trying to decide which one would be the better fit for me in terms of convenience and quality. If you’ve been to either or both, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks so much in advance

End of Roll Cuts

I've got an unfinished basement that I just want to put down a section of carpet for the kids play area.

Any recommendations on places that have good prices on end cuts that they want to get rid of?

Pool Closing Help

Does anyone know of a pool closing service that’s $300 or less? I just got quoted $750 for a small, vinyl lined, in ground, salt water pool. I know it’s super late in the season.

I’m pretty sure we have our own cover if that helps at all, but if anyone knows a company (or even a friend who’s willing to do it for a couple hundred) please let me know! My mom lost her job in the summer so we had a tough time scrounging the money together to close it sooner but the temperatures dropping and we’re nervous!

Heavy, dense chocolate fudge cake

Any recommendations for where you'd get the heaviest, densest fudge cake known to mankind? A slice won't be enough, I'm going to need a full cake.

I want to be able to use this as a doorstop. If I launched this at my neighbour's house I'd want it to do some damage. No lightweight, airy mousse cakes, I want a cake that would make a cardiologist shudder.

Laser hair removal recommendations?

I'm totally knew to this stuff, but I'm looking to get laser hair removal on my armpits. I'm quite nervous about going to the wrong place, so I'm hoping someone can point me to a reputable place to get it done.

I'm willing to travel a little out of the city for a nice place. TIA!

Dark Horse Hamilton!

As a longtime Toronto resident and frequenter of Dark Horse’s Spadina location, I was surprised to see the cafe has set up shop inside Stoney Creek Indigo.

The cafe is a complete flip of the former Starbucks and filled with a lot of goodies — Detour/Dark Horse coffee, filters, gourmet chocolate, dog snacks, etc.

Construction on Upper James.

Hope no one needs to go down Upper James. They're doing some construction just north of Mohawk and have closed most of the lanes to one lane each way.

Affordable kids canskate programs?

I recently tried to register my 6 year old son for a canskate program. It was through the Hamilton Skating Club. The total came to $362 including the annual fee for the Canada skating club. For 9 sessions. That's over $40 per 45 minute lesson. I thought that was ridiculous so of course I didn't register him.

Are there more affordable options? $362 for that is grossly overpriced.

Volunteering over the holidays

Does anyone know of places that are looking for volunteers on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? It's starting to look like I'll be alone over the holidays and wanted to see if I could give back by donating time. Thanks!

South Asian Garment Store - Yellow/Gold Choli and Dupatta

I'm going to my husband's cousin's wedding this weekend and I'm wearing a yellow lehenga/skirt. I have a choli (top) and dupatta (shawl) but both aren't exactly what I want. I'm wondering if there are any shops where you can go in and easily try things on in/around Hamilton. Thanks!

Beginning Classes

Hi there, I wanted to get into more hobbies. However, when I email places or submit an application online that hold programs I’m interested in, they don’t tend to respond. For classes, do I just walk in and explain that I’d like to do a trial class and hope they let me join? Should I call before hand and ask? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I have social anxiety but wanted to get out of my comfort zone and try new things, but instructions to sign up for classes can be vague.

Currently I’m really interested in joining Soi Dogs for Muay Thai! Thank you for any comments.

Rebel's Rock cookbook?

Before the pub closed, we asked the owner about her curry dish and she said that she was going to be making a cookbook.

When you visit the rebel's Rock site, it says the cookbook will be out in the near future...I'm sure it has said that for a while.

Does anyone know if they actually made one? Or if they gave up and are just living the quiet life?

I miss their fries and curry...nobody made it better

Ipad found

My husband and I were putting our Christmas lights up today and found what appears to be a brand new ipad thrown in our garden. Was anyone broken into in the downtown area and missing an ipad? Let me know! Or if anyone knows how I can get into it to find that rightful owner that would be great! Thanks!

Pick up or rec men's/ coed hockey at Rosedale arena or Parkdale patt Quinn arena?

Hey

Moved to Hamilton a few years ago and enjoy playing rec hockey, especially laid back leagues without any BS or fighting etc. (I've done ashl and nustadia and can't deal with the stupidity in these leagues)

Anyone aware of any adult pick up, men's/ coed leagues, 30+ type hockey at either Rosedale arena or patt Quinn arena in the east end?
