So I'm a technical skills development phase and just absorbing all the courses, networking, and knowledge I can gather these days regarding AI and specifically Deeplearning. I'm currently seeking some career direction and guidance where I can share in some level of detail my current abilities and my desired roles/functions and ensure I'm on the correct trajectory/building the right projects/taking the right courses etc.
Question: What are the career services here like? Has anyone been successful in those helping with really specific personalized direction and support. And how about the alumni network, do we have a resources that would facilitate/help leverage and connect with them for meaningful career advise and feedback.
TIA
Im currently in my 4th year at McMaster studying Math and Stats, im aiming for April 2026 to graduate. Recently, I've begun to look into accounting as a career path since my previous career path has had very little luck in getting any relevant experience. What drew me towards mohawk was the coop options available.
Im looking into the accounting program with coop but wondering how useful itd be eventually getting my CPA designation. My roadmap atm would be:
Finish BSc -> Accounting coop @ Mohawk -> CPA
Has anyone had any luck getting their CPA after an education at Mohawk? How can I use my degree to my advantage to accelerate any progress?
Hi Im starting practical nursing program in January and would like to prepare NARs in advance. Among immunization requirements, for hep b I know I have anti body already from past blood test but I don’t have record of vaccination, which seems to be required. Does anyone know if anybody is sufficient enough or they would require proof document of vaccination?
Hey everyone I am thinking of doing this program. Does anyone have any tips on how to do well in this program and how we will find jobs after it? Any tips would be helpful. Study tips to do well in labs and courses. Please let me know.
As an international student at Mohawk College, I've noticed that while connecting with other international students has been easy, it’s been more challenging to feel included by some local students, despite efforts to build mutual respect and understanding. Have other students, local or international, felt similar challenges? How can we work together to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone on campus?
I am interested in becoming an accountant or anything related. Are the job prospects good after having completed this program?? Is it hard to get a job after graduating?
Hi! As you can tell by the title I'm going to be a Graphic Design student for the January 2025 intake :)
It's been a while since I was in school (graduated musical theatre college in 2021 aka pandemic grad ;-;) I'm a bit nervous to be going back to school and I guess I just wanted to to see if anyone else is taking Graphic Design or has any advice/thoughts on what to expect from the program or if anyone wants to be friends :D
Also wondering what kinds of clubs there are at Mohawk?
Title.
So obviously everything is working out great here!
Mohawk is one of my main contenders for animation after high school since its more affordable then others and the school seams rather nice. I can't find anything on this subreddit prior about the animation program or at least since its changed from strictly 3D animation to 2D and 3D animation. I would be amazing if anyone has been in the program or are currently in it had any thoughts on it to share, good and bad.
I do have some more specific questions as well if anyone has answers its very appreciated! :)
- If I were to get an on campus job how easy would it be to balance the workload with the job?
- How are the professors in terms of giving genuine and helpful lessons, critique and guidance?
- How much does it prepare you to go directly into a animation job?
- Do they have an internship or co-op opportunity? I cant find much on it on their website.
- My other two options (if i get in and can afford it) are Sheridan and Algonquin, how is Mohawk good compared to what you know about the other two?
Thanks!
Hi all, I applied to the Winter 2025 CVT Program on September 22nd and I got waitlisted on October 30th. I wondering if anyone else is on the waitlist?
Anyhow, I found out today that I'm 10th on the waitlist - in all honesty, do you think there is a reasonable chance of me getting in the program? I did apply to the program for next September, but oobviously the sooner I get in the better.
Additionally, since I'm just on the waitlist, should I be applying for OSAP with no guarantee that I'll get in the program? I've never used OSAP before, so I'm unsure if this would be a good idea.
When I was applying for the program, I noticed on the Mohawk College PSW program webpage that it stated that one of the Non-Academic Requirements for the PSW program is Standard First Aid and CPR Level BLS/HCP. I don’t start school until January so I’ve been trying to complete as many NARs as possible before the actual start of the semester. I joined the PSW NARs course on MyCanvas and noticed that under the Standard First Aid section that the requirement for the PSW program is actually standard first aid and level ‘c’ cpr. This made me so confused and I double checked Mohawk College’s website and noticed that there was a discrepancy in the first aid requirements. I immediately contacted preplacement services and they told me that standard first aid and level ‘c’ cpr is the only requirement needed for the first aid NAR and I was baffled. I had already spent an extra $70 on the BLS course that is taught separately from the main standard first aid and cpr course, not knowing that BLS actually wasn’t a requirement for the program/placement. Long story short, you don’t need BLS but I’m still going to the training because it’s extra knowledge to have. Save your money but if you do have extra money to spare and you want to expand your knowledge, by all means, book the BLS course. It’s not mandatory though. Just thought I’d warn others who were also trying get a head start on their NARs before the January Start.
Hi! So I am starting at Mohawk in January 2025 and I received an email telling me I have to pay a deposit fee by November 15th. Which is all fine and dandy but when I go to open my financial page I get an error message (I will attach a picture of it). The email says I get access to my page once I register for classes but I can’t do that I guess until November 25th. So I’m confused on what I’m supposed to do about paying my deposit if I can view my financial statement. If anyone has suggestions or someone at the school I can contact please lmk!
I need this information for OSAP, however I don’t know how much it’s going to cost me for books and equipment. Can anyone help?
My long term goal was to enrol in a PSW (Canada) program in May then Bridge to a PN (Practical Nursing) program at a later date. Life has a way of lifing and I’m now able to apply to the January program instead which would have me done in the summer.
I won’t be able to work much during the winter program so bills may be behind. Should I just wait until May or take my chances and do the January program?
I know this sounds really stupid, but I forgot to accept my offer of admission because I mistakenly thought I already did. When I finally saw the email warning me time was running out, my offer had already expired. I had a lot going on in my life and got confused and missed my chance, now I'm stressing about the possibility of waiting several months before I can apply again. Is there any way for me to still start my semester in January? If you have any help or advice available, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
Also, for reference, the program I was looking to get into was General Arts and Science (208)
Hi everyone! I am thinking of making a WhatsApp group chat for anyone entering the MRI graduate program this January. Let me know if you’re interested in being added! ☺️
Are there any parties happening tonight or tomorrow near the Fennell Campus or McMaster?
Are any of you going to the $10 flying squirrel event on the 8th??? My program is entirely online so I don’t have any campus pals to go with!
Hi everyone! I wanted to pay my fee statement today, it’s due on the 15th…however MyMohawk won’t load any of the pages. How do I pay it?
Thanks!
Been looking for something to do for halloween and i saw a sign at the trades campus about a halloween party at the cellar.
Just wondering if anyone’s been to prior ones, or if they’re any good. looking to socialize too so wondering if lots of people go, and if they actually dress up
I’ve been asking this question under a few posts on this sub, but I figured that I would ask this in a separate post — a few weeks ago, I was made aware of a supposed PSW incentive payment upon completion (?) of clinical placement for the PSW program at any LTC facility or employer that opted into the incentive but I have literally seen no one post about receiving this money ever?? Apparently it officially came into effect last year or early this year and it’s retroactive to students who graduated last April 2023. A payment of up to $5000 or something like that. Have any of you who completed the PSW program recently in the past few months or in the last year or so received this money?
Has anyone done this before? Any guides or links with information about it? How many years would it take and can anyone do it?
Thanks!
So is there any update on the potential strike my teachers haven’t really said anything to me or sent any emails. Was told we find out on the 30th.
I was told by a friend that clinical placements for the PSW program taught at Wentworth Heights are done on location, meaning that I wouldn’t have to try to find a placement location if I choose to get taught at that campus. Is that true? Do students who choose IAHS campus have to find their own placement locations while students who choose Wentworth Heights get to do placement where they are taught?

Hi I was just wondering how long it takes normally to get some type of confirmation after paying for my program?
I listen to a bunch of indian guys speak Hindi to each other at the back of class in nearly all of my classes. Has anyone else become fluent from listening to people speaking Hindi for hours at a time?
