Laptop Overheating issue...

So I recently bought a new ASUS TUF F15 model, specifically the one with an i7-13620H and an RTX 4060 card... but the problem is that it isnt able to reach the same performance as shown in any of the youtube benchmarks, and it is ofcourse due to thermal throttling... I do live in a hotter area... But what else can i do? I tried out undervolting, says it cant work with my cpu... tried a cooling pad, didnt see any major difference except 5 C... This i7 idles around 55-60C on a normal ambient environment of 34C... At gaming, it is constantly at 95C... Kindly help me out.... <3

Should I invest in upgrading my old laptop? Looking for a little guidance please!

Hello everybody, I have a few questions and I’m hoping someone won’t mind taking the time to help me out! I’m asking here because everything on the internet claims they’re the best and I think yall might really know.

I’m uneducated about gaming laptops and pcs. 7ish years ago I bought a laptop at Best Buy. It’s an Acer Aspire. I think I paid around $800 for it. I literally asked for a good laptop that would play the sims and that’s what I was handed. I love the sims, that’s the reason for the laptop mostly. Basically a sims machine and hopefully other new games. I’m going to get it from my parents house later this week.

Questions time - do you think it will still play the sims well? It’s a really big game and I love a lot of mods so it could be laggy. There’s so much new content that’s come out in the last few years too. I’m torn. With it being so old, is there a way to get it upgraded? Like taking it to a computer store or Best Buy? Im willing to put money into it but I don’t know what’s crazy expensive and what’s cheap. Is it a better idea to continue to invest in this old laptop a little while longer or sell it and start looking? I doubt I’d get much for it anyway. I want a pc and a screen but that whole setup I imagine gets out of my budget easily. Anyone who takes the time to read all that and help is awesome!

Was this a good deal?

Bought this laptop on sale. Planning to use it for gaming and a bit of 3D modeling. Would anyone know what I should expect from this laptop, in terms of performance and overall build? Last gaming laptop I had was an MSI with a 860, before I made the switch to a desktop.

Need Power Plan for Book 4 Ultra 4070 (32GB) - USB Issues with Hardware Acceleration Enabled

Hey everyone,

I'm reaching out to see if anyone here has the default power plan for the Samsung Book 4 Ultra 4070 (NP960XGLZ-EXP) with 32GB RAM. Unfortunately, I lost the original power plan settings after a recent reformat, and Samsung Support informed me they can't provide it directly.

Currently, I’m facing an issue where any software that uses hardware acceleration causes my USB devices to disconnect until I reboot. It’s quite disruptive, especially when using specific applications.

If anyone has the default power settings or insights on fixing the USB disconnect issue, it would be greatly appreciated!

Best regards, eXii

Help me choose

So i was looking for laptops under 85k inr ($1060) , I've narrowed down my search to 4 laptops

  1. ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA507NUR-LP082W - (Ryzen 7 7435HS , RTX 4050 140W)

  2. Acer Nitro V Gaming (ANV15-41, ANV15-51 ) - ( Ryzen 7 7735HS or i5 13420H , RTX 4050 70W - 95W)

  3. HP VICTUS fa1317TX - ( i5 13420H , RTX 4050 75W not sure)

  4. Lenovo LOQ 2024 83DV007GIN ( i5 14450HX , RTX 4050 125W)

I want a mixture of performance and good battery life (around 4 to 5 hours).

Lenovo loq seems to have motherboard and battery drain issues in the latest model. It also comes with 60whr battery and has mux switch.

Acer Nitro has has 57whr battery and doesn't not comes with a mix switch, also it has screen issues.

Asus tuf comes with a 90whr battery and without mux switch, it has thermal issues as cpu reaches 90°+.

HP VICTUS comes with 70whr battery. I do not know any info other than this.

I'm confused on which one to chose , please share your suggestions with me and reasons to chose it over the others.

I'm a college student and my use case is casual gaming (mostly AAA games) , a lot of programming and training small ml models and working with local models.

Work machine with some gaming

A company I'm doing some contract work for has offered to reimburse me for any laptop of my choice with a $1k budget. So - this laptop will primarily be used for stuff like email, excel, photoshop, etc.

I'm debating trying to kill two birds with one stone as I also need a laptop to run GSPro (golf simulator software). Lastly, I'm not a huge gamer, but I'd be interested to use this laptop for things like - bringing along on vacation to play FIFA/light games with my friends.

I would like something that is portable, has good battery life when doing work tasks, & can handle the occasional gaming I'm throwing at it. Outside of running GSPro (which I don't really care to run on the highest settings), I don't wish to run AAA titles on high settings.

Also feel free to tell me this is a dumb idea & to just get a laptop designed for work. I'm starting to realize the portability/battery is usually a big compromise if there's a GPU in the machine.

Fan speed suddenly ramping up for no reason

Help, my ASUS TUF F15 fans keep suddenly ramping up for no reason while I’m doing minimalistic tasks. It won’t stop running at a high fan speed until I shut it down. But while playing, I have no issues whatsoever.

I just got BSOD after restarting and it happened twice

this is the first bsod tonight and good thing I took a pic of it (was originally for the laughs but now I'm concerned)

Laptop model is LOQ 15IRH8 i5 13420H and RTX 4050 (still on 8gb ram if that matters). I was playing Valorant and noticed that i kept stuttering and having low fps even with performance mode ON and restarted the game. I then restarted the laptop thinking it would fix the issue and after a few mins, this showed up. After restarting, I tried to play competitive in valorant then this bsod showed up again. I haven't done anything to the CPU and GPU's clock speed. This laptop is still under warranty so that makes me less worried (hopefully they replace it if it happens again and I show up to their store explaining the issue).

Should I buy a Zephyrus G16 4080?

I’ve been thinking of buying this laptop on Black Friday (hoping to get it down to around 2 grand, 2700 now). It seems to be one of, if not the best all-around gaming laptops out there right now, and generally has very good specs, especially for me who doesn’t play insanely heavy games, and is good quality and looks nice as well. Not too bulky or heavy either. One issue people have had is the armor crate software, though, but there is other software out there that can replace it if I were to find it to be as bad as people say. I wanted to get people’s thoughts on this, though, to determine if I should buy it.

Side note: I’m coming from and will be trading in a dell xps 14 with a 4050 and Ultra 7 (that I regret buying and way overpaid for), so this would be a HUGE upgrade for me, even the 4070 version would work for me but the extra cost seemed worth it for the performance increase of the 4080 over the 4070.

Might be a stupid question

If I get a gaming laptop with solid specs, but I only really use it 99% of the time to browse between 15 tabs in chrome, watch a movie or some YouTube, and run like 1 or 2 photo/video applications on it at most! Will the battery life be good? Say 5-6 hours good?

What laptop should I buy?

I’ve been meaning to get a laptop for gaming and with black friday coming up I have to choose something, but I’ve been struggling with deciding what would be best to get. I will be using it for somewhat large games like gta 5, rdr 2 and dbh so with good graphics I also need good storage since it will be used for college related stuff too

I couldn't find a proper charger for my Acer PH315-55-99Z6

The light is blinking when I am plugging in the charger that is 280 watt one but it's not charging, the tech guy and acer support said it's a charger problem and both have failed to find the product for me, I am India based so I couldn't find something that will work yet if anyone have any kind of solution or link for the charger that can be compatible with my laptop it would be helpful. Thankyou .

Best Gaming Laptop for 1k

I see a lot of options but I'm not sure which is best. Looking for a laptop that has a ton of storage and can process most games well. I don't really care how it looks, could go without crazy lights and stuff, would like to use it for games and work primarily.

Can you tell whether these screw-hole crack patterns depict overtightened screws, or pressure caused by the inappropriate stand under my laptop?

What laptop do i buy?

Hey, I'm from Germany. I've been looking for past 3 months into Laptops, however it seems like I can't make the right decision, that's why i came here. I've been trying to find a very good performance laptop just for gaming and maybe some modelling on blender. If anyone knows what should i get under 1,850€ and that's futureproof I've been looking onto ASUS and Acers laptops since they seem best.

Razer Blade 14 R9 6900HS RTX 3070Ti in 2024

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask for your opinion on the Razer Blade 14 R9 6900HS RTX 3070Ti 2022 model in 2024.

Does it hold up well with modern gaming, considering that the GPU draws only 100W?

I've got one deal for a 788 dollars, so I wonder how is it going to be stacked up with the competition at this price point.

(even considering larger laptops from community beloved Lenovo Legion).

Cheers
