Recommendations please :)

Hello! I'm writing in here on behalf of my mum... She's looking for a new smartphone to mainly be used for the usual calls, emails, WhatsApp, social media accounts, and googling things. She doesn't want a big, heavy one. And she also hasn't got much money to spend. What would people recommend for her? She likes the size of iPhone 15 (but of course it's too expensive, ideally want to spend less than £500). And isn't worried about whether it's iPhone or android. Personally though I think she should get something that lasts her a good few years (iPhones tend to go out of date quickly I think?) She is considering a contract but ideally would just buy the handset outright if possible. Thank you !!

Disappointed by P8P. Is S24U a better option?

I'm happy with the camera but the software seems buggy as all hell. I used to own several galaxy S series phones. And now I'm considering making the switch. What do you think?

Need help figuring out what a good phone to buy is.

Hey, so maybe this isn't the right sub, but here's hoping it is.

What I have is a Samsung S20 FE. Honestly, I've kinda' hated it ever since I got it, but my financial situation was such that it was really all I could get my hands on that worked well. Except, I've had to wait years in my area for the 5G to actually like. Work.

So I was wondering. If I listed what I don't like, what would you guys suggest?

1: I hate the height. It's too damn tall. It just isn't comfortable to use.
2: I do not like how few cases it has available to it. The one I could get is - while protective, way too heavy. It's a miserable experience.
3: It heats up like a stovetop! That's real bad for this summer coming up, too.
4: It has no aux jack. Can't even plug it into my car. I like having an aux jack, and my car is old.

Now it's got a good camera and it's got a nice chunk of storage... But that's about it!

Now, I think I can trade this thing in? I've got T-Mobile, and I'm sure I can get a contemporary Samsung - I will not get into Apple products, so I'm sticking strictly to Android. I really love my wife's Jelly 2E, but it's genuinely too small for me to use as for a GPS - I'm a delivery driver. So, I need a screen I can see. (And I need it to be less tall, seriously who came up with these 6'0+ phones??)

Should go for Samsung S23U or not?

Greetings fellow redditors, In a bit of dilemma regarding updating my cellphone, I'm currently holding a samsung s22 which I bought 6-7 months back. Its a good phone but certain issues like thermal throttling due to the phone being hot almost all the time, very low battery life and small screen size has led me to this particular subreddit. I have managed to accumulate enough money to go for the s24 ultra but seeing that there's almost no difference between it's predecessor I'm in a fix. OneUi has really made my life so much better keeping aside certain aspects for complain. Hence samsung is my anytime goto. Also upgrading my cellphone so soon is really a good idea or should I stick to it for some time more? It's in warranty hence I might be able to back a good exchange offer. Please note down your thoughts on this, it'll be such a great help. Thanks.

Where are the smartphones with physical keyboard ?

Hello all,

Tbh, I am so disappointed to see how physical keyboards have disappeared from the smartphone's market. The feeling of it was wonderful and so much efficient according to me. I miss the Blackberry, the Nokia and all these smartphones.

Now I wonder why no current brands commercialize these models. Is there really a lack of demand from the market ? Everytime I talk about this topic, all people agree to tell that the physical keyboard was better than digital one. Should I lose hope to see a major brand launching a physical keyboard soon ?

Iqoo 12 vs oppo find n3 flip

Can anyone help me choose between iqoo 12 and Oppo find n3 flip?

Both phones are going around 50k in India right now. I know Iqoo 12 is a performance beast but I think Oppo also wont have any issues in daily performance. For oppo, the India launch price was 95k but its going for 50k right now in sale. So for that price is the design and premiumness justified?

I cant login into any app

So every single time when i try to login into any app on my Motorola edge 30 smartphone everything works fine and after a while i immediately got back to the login page. I didn't have this before, I don't know what's the reason, and maybe it's an unusual problem because I couldn't find it anywhere on the Internet, I'll repeat, it happens with EVERY application.

Why is UX so bad these days?

I've been buying loads of android phones since 2013 and the UX quality seems to get getting worse. On many modern phones it takes multiple swipes to move and image from left to right and sometimes many presses before it picks up what I'm doing. My friend who has a fancy iPhone agreed and I witnessed him angrily pressing send over an overr in WhatsApp and it not responding. I recently bought a budget phone, a Nokia C2. It was easily the worse phone I've ever used in my life even compared to no name Chinese phones I've owned. I was shocked because back in 2013 I could buy a decent budget phone for £60-100..

It's not only phones massive corporations like Google and air BnB churn out crap a 5 year old could design better apps, websites..

Recently I lost my phone, laptop and passwords/passcodes. Yes that was very stupid. But oh jeez the amount of flaws and errors, broken systems and bad customer services to get my life back on track.. it was abhorrent. It was the most traumatic experience of my life lol it made me VERY scared because everything is so useless someone only has to see Ur passcode on your phone then steal Ur phone and bam you're screwed and no one is there to help you. Took me a week to gain access to my Gmail and revolut accounts again.

Wtf is going on!? Shouldn't things be more simple and easier ?? They add more and more lazy rules and broken crap to everything. No one seems to want to make an elegant simple system than actually works. Even the phone I just bought randomly the auto correct just doesn't work , the typing is all over the place.

Ok ok I know some good stuff exists but it's like a diamond in a desert.

I pray to the tech gods humanity gets some kinda basic level of common sense cuz it just seems to be worse.

Which phone should I get, Samsung galaxy android or Iphone 14?/

Hi guys, I lost my iphone and am thinking about getting one from Metro PCS T-mobile. in my area. the options that best suit me are another iphone 14, (I had a Iphone 11) ....but iphones are more expnesive on the monthly plan around $34.99-50.00 / month depending on the model the Samsung Galaxy ones are much cheaper monthly rates at $8.00-$20.00/month but ANDROID so the Apple apps wont work on them. Which one is better would you say ...price and phone use wise? Also the GBS ont he Samsung and Iphones were 256GBS is that a good amount of space or should I upgrade to ITerrabyte? thanks. Has anyone used metro PCS t-mobile in the past. arte they a good company to do business with? And how is their customer support? Thanks.

A problem that's driving me crazy

I have a Redmi Note 9 (4gb-128gb) that had a recent looping problem when it was turned on (it kept on the Xiaomi logo and restarted infinitely). I asked my uncle to see what he thought inside and he found some welds that were no longer in good shape, but it was a very simple job and the device started up again. Originally this device was on Miui 12 (I think), but before opening the device we considered that the defect was in the system and we installed a Miui 13 which worked really well (apparently). This evening's big villain appeared: the phone works entirely fine, but if you turn off the screen, it restarts. The top of the phone is very hot, especially because the original defect was on the sides of the processor (I don't know the details), but the temperature doesn't bother me. After a lot of head banging trying to understand what was happening, we discovered that it acts like an old car, the kind that dies when you stop at a red light and takes a lot of work to get back. It seems confusing, but in practice it's very simple: If there is any function of it being used in the background, it "runs" perfectly without restarting, this is for music (If you leave the music playing and lock the screen it doesn't restart), but having a sound playing for 24 hours is somewhat annoying even if it's your favorite song. We discovered that if you activate Hotspot (that function that routes your mobile data as if it were Wi-Fi), even if there is no one connected to the device, it also does not restart, however this function It uses a lot of battery and this is affecting my usage. I tried other background processes, lighter applications, activated Bluetooth tethering, sharing real-time location with my girlfriend (she really liked this test), but nothing worked Better than Active Hotspot.

My question to the worthy users of this community: Do you know about this defect? Is it easy to solve? If not, do you know of any background app that doesn't let the phone restart, but that does not use as much battery as internal routing?

Phone gaming coolers potential danger

So we all know that certain phone coolers gets to around 0 degrees celsius cold and condensation forms around the cooling pad, but what about the internals of the phone? is it possible for the condensation or droplets to form inside the phone itself?

Is the Lava Blaze Curve 5G worth to buy? Exploring Display, Design, and Performance, save up to 20%

Lava Blaze Curve 5G Review: Smartphones with display are negligible and Lava can take the lead from others on this basis. Indian brand 'Lava' launched the Blaze Curve 5G smartphone earlier this month. After about a month of use, I do not mind writing that Lava is trying its best to regain its lost 'shine' and it seems that the company has the power to do so. In the under Rs 20 thousand category, curved AMOLED displays, and premium design-like elements make the Blaze Curve 5G stand out from the crowd. But the real challenge of 'Lava' is Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, and Oppo. Can Lava Blaze Curve 5G win people's hearts? Let's find out in this review...Read More

Android stops charging when push notifications from apps come in

I am wondering if anyone else has this issue and how they resolved it.

I charge my phone with a cable and every so often it just stops charging when notifications come it. For example: it'll show the red charging light, but then when a push notification comes in (like email, text message), the light goes off and charging stops. It acts like I've disconnected it from the power. If I turn the screen back on to see the notification, it resumes charging.

I am not sure if it's a setting that gets changed or whatever, but it's annoying and restarting the phone doesn't help.

Iphone 15 or 15 pro?

I've always been an android user and I found myself quite well, but I wanted a change of scenery. I'm mainly undecided about this argument that many people make about 120 hertz: many say it's not a small difference, but I come from a simple Redmi Note 9 and I don't know how much I can notice the difference. However, even small things that can be trivial in my opinion in the iphone 15 pro make the difference: always on display, dynamic island and a higher ram (?). What I need is speed and fluidity in the management Multiple apps in a row. I can't stand it when in multi tasking my current device makes me refresh the page. Not to mention the quality of the display, which must always be clearly visible. Do you know any differences that the pro model has more than the basic one?

what to do?

My One Vision fell +/- 6 months ago, little crack in the upper corner in the glass, no problems whatsoever. Now, a week ago, the underscreen started cracking with this result at this moment.

Can this still be fixed or to costly and should I replace my phone? (software-wise, no problems but the screen doesn't work properly anymore).

If I should replace my Moto One Vision, I have already checked my possibilities, taken price range into account but still wondering what would be the best buy:

  • Motorola Edge 40 - 329 EUR

  • Google Pixel 7a - 389 EUR

  • Oneplus Nord 3 - 349 EUR

Nanoreview concludes that best value for its price is the Edge 40, but wondering if it is the smartest choice with only update & patches support until 2027.
Or better to wait until mid-may/june for a newer model?

Thanks for the help!
