Hey folks,
I just picked up the ASUS Zephyrus G16 2024 model with the Ryzen AI 9 processor and an RTX 4070 GPU. Out of the box, it’s running great, but I know there’s always more to squeeze out of a machine like this. I'm looking to maximize performance for both gaming and productivity.
I’m open to any advice – BIOS tweaks, Windows settings, driver optimizations, undervolting/overclocking tips, or even software recommendations to monitor temps and performance.
A few specific questions:
Appreciate any input from those who’ve been tweaking similar setups. Thanks in advance! 🙏
What is the minimum/lowest fan RPM speed when is set to 1% or 10%?
All audio input devices are disabled, including newly connected devices. Tapping or holding the mute button on my laptop does nothing. ROG Zephrus g14. What do I do?
I got my phone last week from the Asus online store. After about an hour of use the fingerprint sensor stopped working. The only way I can get it to start working again is doing a factory reset then about an hour later it stops working again. I am unable to verify the registered fingerprints and or add new once this happens. Asus support tells me I can either refund or repair. I am not exactly thrilled about having to send a brand new phone in for repair since it was broken on arrival or getting a refund since I bought it on sale and would have to pay full price. I asked them for and exchange option but have gone back and forth with their support all week. This is really frustrating. Anyone else experience this?
Due to the absolute collapse in customer service and neverending firmware issues, today was finally the day to push me over the edge. It was fun at times...
Hello, my laptop screen turns on and is back lit but it won’t show what is happening on the screen. I contacted asus but they didn’t help much.
Hey, I've recently been noticing that bright colours are completely washed out on my laptop. I can't even see the grid lines on excel. What's odd though, is when I Windows+Shift+S to take a screenshot, while it's in screenshot mode (like - darker before you highlight what you want to screenshot), then the colours are normal. Similarly, when I open a tab over an Excel spreadsheet, the background shadow it makes makes it so I can see the grid lines. I've inserted photos so you can see what I mean. Any help is really appreciated, thanks!
Here you can see that the grid lines are barely visible (actually invisible irl)
And the shadow of this box makes it so you can kinda see the grid, surrounding it.
This is what an image looks like. Can barely make out the lines.
But in screenshot mode you can see that the saturation is better.
Asus has a G700 model with the Intel Ultra 9 285k and the Nvidea 5080 GPU. After doing some research, I found that the processor is underwhelming, to say the least. Does anyone game with that CPU? Is this a bad deal? Thank you.
Hi everyone.
The only time in which my processor remains at reasonable temps is when the charger is disconnected.
When I plug the charger in the processor temps keep climbing and I've dried disabling boost, reducing the maximum and minimum processor frequency, adding a curve to the processor in Bios -5,-10,15,20.
I've tried a manual profile with all the sliders at minumum. To add I have the hz of the display at the max with the charger connected and the temps are still low.
There is something that the laptop is doing with the charger disconnected to maintain low temps nbut I'm not sure what it is it's driving me nuts.
Thanks everyone.
*Edit* It's a 2023 rog strix g17
Hey all, have a 2024 g614-as74. The Kingston 64gb ram from my msi doesnt fit in the rog. Can someone point me to a compatible cost effective ram upgrade? Thanks
Hello good people, I recently got the 2024 Rog Strix,G16 but kinda have difficulties to get the Aura Sync and Creator working. Anyone knows if that particular model is capable of doing any keyboard customization with the Armory Creator. I have tried to upload some photos with the post, but i am not sure if have manged.Any suggestions for that matter would be highly appreciated
Cheers
I saw the x870e apex webpage says that extreme is under development. Also about two months ago a manager of asus China confirmed the release of x870 btf during CES, but clearly they didn’t fulfil their promise. I wonder if we will get these two boards soon - I am planning for a 9800x3d build, preferably with one of these.
The latest advancements in RAM tech look exciting and, according to recent articles, may result in a performance uplift of up to 20%.
I am seeing first laptops starting to pop up advertising support of the new clocked RAM modules, among which MSI Titan and XMG Neo machines. However, all ASUS website says is "up to 64GB of 5600MHz DDR5 RAM, with the memory slots upgradable to 6400MHz DDR5 RAM", while the tech specs for SCAR 16/18 state that it is via two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots.
It isn't a CPU limitation, so am I to understand that ASUS motherboards used in the newest laptops don't support faster CSO-DIMM RAM, or is it possible that a BIOS update may enable support for the newer high-speed/frequency clocked RAM sticks?
So far I:
PSU is an EVGA Supernova 1000 G5
I have separate cables for each of the 3 ends of the adapter the card came with going into separate VGA slots in my PSU
Could this just be a visual bug when the 6 pins aren't actively being used or something? Happens so fast I cant get an actual snapshot of it but it's concerning.
I have an ROG Strix G614JU laptop, I think it's a G16 from 2023.
Can the SSD for the second slot have a heatsink? I heard the heat from the second SSD can kill your wifi card since the second slot is right on top of the card. If it can't have a heatsink, are there any brands that are less likely to have this issue?
And what RAM could you recommend for upgrading to 32gb? Currently the laptop has 16gb of DDR5. Thanks
When updating Bios, if there are multiple Bios updates between the version you are on and the latest, is it best to do all of them? I have never done a Bios update before so I want to make sure I do it right.
I have a ROG Maximus z790 Hero if that makes a difference.

Hi All,
I have an Asustek ROG STRIX G10DK_G10DK and I have some questions about the fans.
The CPU is at 38% usage, 64 degrees celsius, and doesn't really ever seem to move from 900 rpm, according to Armoury Crate.
Is there a way to get the GPU fan to make less noise, or is it necessary to cool down the GPU? Are replacement fans that are quieter an option for a PC noob?
How do I get this fan to help out with the cooling efforts?
Any assistance is appreciated, thank you!
Recently I've been having multiple shutdowns in middle of demanding games like silent hill 2 or Hogwartz legacy mostly in cinematics and even some normal games like Valorant, marvel rivals and Liar's bar I ran a stress test for 2.5 hours without any shutters What can be the problem?
