I got my first ever gaming laptop (Legion Pro 7i 4080) a little over a month ago. It came with 16 GB RAM so I got an upgrade kit from Kingston recently. I’m nervous about upgrading the RAM, since this is my first time doing anything like this. Maybe this is a rhetorical question (or an elementary school-level one), but would wearing rubber/latex gloves help prevent short circuiting? Also, would disabling the battery through BIOS or disconnecting it physically be better for a task like this? And would I need to let the laptop sit for a while to let all the electricity dissipate before I do anything? I’m sorry if I sound stupid. I’m a noob when it comes to this stuff 😅. I’ve tried to do as much research as possible here and in other places but I haven’t found any answers. Any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Having this issue yesterday when I installed the latest nvidia graphic drivers.

I have tried using an external monitor to see if it displays something but no luck there.

Warranty just ended this January.

I am wondering if y'all have a similar issue before

When I switch to the background while playing games, I get micro stutters when scrolling in the browser, switching to other apps or typing. Browsing in the background doesn't feel smooth either. Sometimes these micro-stutters also happen in the game (this happens when using hybrid or auto-hybrid mode). This problem has been there for a while, unfortunately I don't know if it happened before or after I updated a driver. I would be grateful if you can help, thank you

Uninstalling and installing video card drivers
Clean install Lenovo website Nvidia drivers
Switching to hybrid and auto-hybrid modes
Windows formatting
Bios Update

I'm currently using the headphones jack on my Legion 5i

I am totally at a loss here. I just recently started playing Alan Wake 2 and any text near the right edge or bottom edge is partially cut off and I cannot zoom out or scroll to see it. I have a Legion Pro 7i 16IRX8H 4080. Latest BIOS, up to date firmware. NVIDIA firmware 572.16 and the game is up to date. Screen resolution is set to 2560x1600 and render resolution at Quality 1707x1067. Lowering the Display resolution makes it worse. Changing the render resolution makes no difference. My Windows DPI is set to 150% but changing it to 100% makes no difference. Yesterday I temporarily fixed it, I thought by changing subtitle size to small and then back to normal, but today it is back again and this doesn't fix it. Not sure what else I did yesterday to fix it. Thankfully I haven't encountered much text in these positions but it's really annoying me. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Guys i have a legion 5i gen 9 i9 14900hx rtx 4060 and when i am using it in quite mode it seems a bit laggy and i am a very percise guy about these things and i hate it and i also undervolted my cpu -110 mv on cpu and pcore and for ecore -30ish and sometimes it bluescreens what should i do abt that sevond about the quite mode i mostly use my laptop on charge and rarely take it out so should i use quite while like using vscode and 2 monitors yt etc like just learning to code with 2 monitors and youtube browsing should i use quite mode at that point or what ad also when i am playing i like to use custom mode but i dont understand much in the settings of it in vantage so i just mostly crank everything to max on custom mode and fans also to full max speed untill i finish my gaming i mostly use balanced when not gaming or after i finish gaming but i started to think to use quite but i feel some minmal slowness or lag something like that what you guys think

I've had my LENOVO Legion 5 since around late 2022 and the laptop is now freezing like 2 times a day on average. When I'm scrolling on the internet it will just stick and I have to power shutdown to turn it on again. I've updated drivers and other systems and cleaned the inside so I'm quite stuck to how to prevent it. I was thinking the battery might be getting exhausted and have to buy a new one maybe? Any help would be appreciated

Hello everyone, Today I ordered Legion 7i Pro 16 after being a long time ThinkPad user. It has 32gb ram, 1tb SSD, a 4080 and i9 14900, and it was on 27% discount with around 2400 eur (900 eur discount is hard to miss).

I'm a developer and I mainly work with Arch Linux and NixOS so I wanted to know how the Linux support is on the gaming line of Lenovo. I plan to dual boot using a second SSD just in case, but the majority of my time will probably be spent on Arch.

I only ever had an HP Victus gaming laptop before and it was an absolute nightmare to work with on Linux. So many issues led me to almost throwing the stupid piece of trash into the wall. I've since then placed that one up for sale.

Before settling on this Legion I was also checking out Tuxedo and Framework laptops but I found them to be a little expensive compared to the deal I got with this Legion.

So any Linux users here care to share their experience? Thank you for reading :)

What’s the different Lenovo Legion Pro 7 Gaming Laptop Core i9 32GB/2TB 4090 and pro i version of the same laptop? What is the difference between pro 7 and pro 7i because they’re around the same price point?

I have the 2021 Legion 5-17ACH6H Type 82JY. Officially it supports up to 1GB SSD-s. Does anyone know if actually accepts 2+ GB SSD-s too?

My vantage systems on my legion 5 have been replaced by Lenovo commercial systems

I bought a Lenovo Legion 5 slim from my local electronics store not realizing that the 7435HS in it dooms it to poor battery life (the best I can get is 3 hours just browsing the web with battery saver on from 100%). I like the laptop otherwise, so I decided to switch it with an 8845HS model which from reviews I've seen seems to get between 7 and 11 hours with light workloads.

So, here's my question. I was wondering if you guys know if it's fine to switch the SSDs between the two without affecting the warranty (and set up for the person who buys the laptop I'm returning). It would be faster and easier to just switch the SSDs than to securely erase everything on the first one and set everything up again on the newer one. I tried calling the Lenovo live assistant and warranty departments about the question, both were useless; each one directed me to the other, so I can only ask reddit.

I have a Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 AMD, and looking for recommendations for a docking station. I run one 34" ultra wide monitor, and I do not have a need for Thunderbolt capability. There's no need for the docking station to charge my laptop as the laptop will be plugged into the wall.

Lenovo reps keep pushing the ThinkPad docks, but I'd like to know what else is out there that folks are using and like.

I was conducting an experiment, where i was measuring the effect of the speed of airflow through a heatsink against the temperature change. for this, I need to convert the laptop fan speed in rpm to speed of air in m/s. Does anyone know the CFM rating of the cooling fans found in the legion 5 15arh05? (DC28000FAF0) seems to be the model number for the fans.

So I just got this laptop. I've done the initial setup. What configurations on Vantage do you recommend on this when gaming while plugged in and when doing productivity tasks on battery. Ordered it on lenovo website on dec 12, 2024. Received it today.

Also, damn this laptop can handle Delta Force on Ultra settings while having 74-75 fps.

Recently got a Legion 5i Pro gen 9 for 3D scanning and modeling work. These are resource intensive applications and they do seem to perform better if I manually set the performance mode using the fn+Q keys.

Windows provides the ability to automatically set the desired gpu on a per-application basis. Is there similar functionality to automatically select Performance Mode when specific app(s) are opened?

If it matters, I have uninstalled Vantage and replaced it with the open source Lenovo Toolkit, which seems to work equally well while using fewer resources of it's own.

Hey there, I have the Legion i5 and so far I was super happy with it. Now, 2 years and 2 months later (2 months after warranty ended, unbelivable...) my Laptop randomly just turns the fan like crazy and shuts off. Usually it works again after restarting, but it can't stay like that, I never know when it's going to happen again... I tried resetting the BIOS, I read that could help, but I am not sure I did it right, and if so, it didn't do anything. Any ideas, otherwise I'll have to send it in for repair and pay for it I guess..

This is one of the worst issues i faced when i first got a laptop eager to make custom resolutions or make the screen stretch or just have a cooler and more colorful screen. But there were only 4 options to expand which made me mad asf yo. I been searching all over youtube tryna figure it out wasting a whole lotta time on clickbaits so im not gonna let yall suffer like me. Without further ado here is the solution

1. Go to Nvidia Control Panel
2. Go to Manage Display Mode
3. Make it Nvidia Gpu Only

So i've been experiencing lags and stutters on every single basic tasks i used such as : Youtube, Tiktok, PowerPoint, Windows Overall 😭 So here is how i solved it. I was goofing around toggling settings on and off testing my luck to see if it was the cause of the problem. And yea i hit the jackpot yo. I went to nvidia app and display then simply switched my display mode to optimus and turned off gsync. Yea it's crazy how something as dumb as this can be such a big issue. Hope this helped

My laptop keyboard suddenly stoped working while typing, Then after few seconds the Fan started to go absolutely fast, but in the task manager there CPU OR GPU wasn't at 100%, after few seconds the laptop shut it self Off.

So i recently got lenovo legion5i RTX4070, I7-14650HX and I was seeing gaming test of other people with the same laptop and i noticed their cpu is pushing to 55w when playing games and a person was getting around 340 350 fps in auto mode while my cpu only pushes till 30-35w on average and I get around 270 280 fps in valorant on auto mode what should I do? Even in other games my cpu generally pushes around 30-35w
