I’ve just bought a 2022 Lenovo legion 5i tower off a friend, everything seems to be working fine, but I get a strange rattling noise from inside the case every couple of seconds. I popped the side off and can’t see anything contacting the case fans to make the noise, any ideas ?
here’s a vid of the sound, it’s harder to hear on video but very distinct in person.
The white is such a beauty! i7-14700HX RTX 4060 32GB DDR5 5600MHZ Ram 512GB SSD (2TB SSD on the way) 3.2k display Glacier white
I didnt get the best deal because of taxes in my country, but im happy to upgrade after 4 years.
Hey everyone, I just bought my very first gaming laptop with the specifications given in the photo. I ordered this as a Custom order, can anyone share their experience about how long does it take to get it? I am in a metro city in India. Also, I would appreciate any tips on how to test the laptop's performance and manage stuff.
I'm buying my first laptop soon, and I can't decide between these two models. I know it's seems obvious which one I should get, but I have to consider price and some changes.
My budget is somewhere between $1800–2000, but a bit on the lower side. I want to use this laptop for gaming, coding, engineering, and school. Both models I'm considering are build-your-own ones.
Legion Pro 5i Specs: • Processor: 14th Gen Intel i9-14900HX • Memory: 32 GB • First SSD: 1 TB • Second SSD: 1 TB • Graphic Card: RTX 4060
Legion 7i Specs: • Processor: 14th Gen Intel i9-14900HX • Memory: 32 GB • SSD: 1 TB • Graphic Card: RTX 4060
The Pro 5i comes to $1,784.99 and the 7i at $1,999.99. The main reason I'm considering the 7i is because of the fingerprint reader and wireless. If I change the display on the 7i to the cheaper option, then the price becomes $1,874.99.
To be honest, I don't know the exact difference since the display specs differ in resolution (WQXGA vs 3.2K), colors? (HDR 400, 100% sRGB vs 100% DCI-P3), nits (500 vs 430), and Hz (240 vs 165).
Apologies if this is in the wrong place to post as well as for the long post.
Coming here for help next. I installed MSFS2024 on a brand new legion tower I got from BB. 4070 Super, i7 14700F, 32g ram.
It initially ran great once. Then I installed some other stuff and when I went back to MSFS I haven’t had it run yet. It takes 20 minutes to load and the rest of the issues are demonstrated here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftFlightSim/s/mMCTr1pVoY
I have replaced me router, ran both wireless and wired, it’s like MSFS24 itself is causing the issue. I’ve reinstalled more times than I can count.
It’s the Xbox Gamepass version so it launches from the Xbox PC app.
I don’t have issues with ANY other game aside from packet loss in BO6 but that’s pretty typical.
My next guess is to wipe the PC and do a fresh install?
I had no issue prior to yesterday night. I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary however my rb button stop working. I’m at the latest controller software and the only thing I did was press the tiny hole on the side to restore the controller. Any idea will be appreciated. Thank you!
I am trying to choose between two models:
There is about 500 usd price difference between them. I wonder is it really worth to pay more for the Legion? I know I will get better 16" 240 screen but is there anything else?
Just recieved this beast guys. Intel i7 14650hx 16gb ram 1tb ssd Rtx 4050 6gb 165hz screen Any suggestions guys. How should I start with this? Should I run benchmark tests? Is it a good deal @ 1295 dollars/1,10,000 Inr in India?
I just picked up the g14 from Best buy for 1199 USD and have been enjoying it but my biggest issue has been it's the 16gb ram. I just found a good deal for a legion 5i 4060 32gb ram for 1099. I'm using my laptop for my MBA and casual gaming. What do y'all think would be the better buy?
Hello, my Lenovo legion charger pin is heating (so hot it burns hand). This happened on my second charger (previous one had the same issue and replaced it, it worked for two months and im having same problem) Then charging on laptop stops. How hard is to replace charging socket in legion laptops? Or is it other problem?
I'm having an issue with the Legion H500 Pro 7.1 where in discord I can't hear a user but I can hear the rest of the UI noises. Not only that but it also says there is in fact mic pickup but when I click the test option to get playback, no audio is being played back. Now, a friend of mine says he can hear me in the app but I can't hear him, it's super weird and I can't seem to find a solution.
Cheers.
Hey guys, I’ve got a Legion Pro 5 (16ARX8) with a bad fan bearing. I know I’m going to need to remove the heat sink to replace the fans and instead of applying PTM7950, I’d like to try my hand at applying Liquid Metal. Has anyone applied it to this specific model of laptop? Was there a noticeable difference in temps? My laptop has the 7745HX and an RTX 4060. Thanks in advance!
I'm trying to buy one of these for roughly the same price (they're both second hands used less than 9 months)
The Lenovo legion seller claims to have barely even used the laptop and has bought it 6 months prior to our conversation. He has even offered to bring it to my house.
The LOQ guy hasn't offered to bring it over but I have to drive 3 hours to get to him.
But which of these laptops are better? I'm looking for one which can do gaming better and is better suited for the future in terms of durability and specs.
How can I make its scrolling smooth I tried the Lenovo accessories software tried adjusting the “Lines to scroll at a time” but couldn’t make it smooth it just keeps skipping through the number of lines you adjust
So, I have a Lenovo Legion: Pro 7. My screen became fuzzy and I experimented to see what would make it not fuzzy. Besides restarting, I made my discrete graphics card run my screen rather than my integrated graphics and the screen fuzz went away.
I'm curious how I can make it so that my integrated graphics doesn't have the screen fuzz bc whenever I press the 'Update Drivers' button, they don't say I have an update. In addition, I don't think it's good to always run the dedicated GPU at all times.
So I bought a legion 5 pro on 4th January 2024. Glacier white 16arh7h. With ryzen 6800h and 3060 graphics card. Laptop was working for the first few months then problems start occuring. Rapid battery degrade in just 6 months around 10% of the total battery degraded to 70wh in just months. This is absurd. My friend also bought a laptop almost 6 months earlier than me I recheck with his laptop it had around 150 charge cycles with almost no degrade. I had around 60 at that time.
I am also facing an issue of USB not working tried all the method of static discharge by holding the power button it works sometimes but no use it happens always anyway. I did complain to the lenovo support But was not able to send the laptop for service because I had an exam. The problem still occurred nonetheless sometimes I used to spend 2-3hrs trying to solve it but no use.
Recently I was normal using the laptop in the morning out of nowhere the display just went blank. Complete blank. The laptop was working fine apart from the USB A not working frequently. When I did complain about the display issue the USB ports were working fine. Also I didn't remember to tell them about the issue because I forgot. Laptop was working fine when I connected it to an external display via HDMI but it only worked when laptop was set on dgpu mode.
I visited thee centre on Friday regarding the issue. I was informed parts are ordered and sent. The engineer called me in the morning if I am available at location I said yes. But I was waiting the entire day but he never showed up. Tried calling him but no response. New day he again call and asks if I am available I said yes. He arrived at 5pm in the evening. But while removing the strip from the back of the display he was in a hurry. He was pulling it's quickly so it's snapped and it was stuck inside. One side of the tape was removed the other remained just like that. He asked for a hair dyer. I went and got one from our neighbour. The guy started to tell us that the hair dryer was not working and left. He was in a hurry. I check the hair dryer again and it was working but he left anyways. He said he will return tomorrow with hair dryer from his office. Next day he came, but literally forgot another equipment for the replacement. Went again to somewhere and came again in the evening. He fitted the display. But he was in a hurry and fixed the display a slightly misaligned from the lid. I did point out to him that heit was fitted wrong but he didn't do anything and brushed off. I told him about the motherboard issue. He said to raise a complain to the support so I did. He connected pendrive to check for connectivitity it was not working. I raised a complainm
After 1 hr while I was using the laptop I noticed the display actually completely coming out of the frame from 2 sides. I contacted him he said he will return tomorrow. Also notified lenovo support about this and asked for better engineer to visit. They order mother board also to it took around 2 days to arrive.
I thought a new engineer will appear but the same engineer came. He replaced the motherboard and asked me come to service center to get my display fixed. He gave me no reason why though. I agreed. After few hrs I started to notice that the left vent of the laptop their was almost no outflow of air from it. It was like only 20% of the air as compared to the right vent. Fans were set to max to check but it was the issue regardless. I didn't contact lenovo about this because I thought I will be visiting the service centre anyway tomorrow so will get it repaired anyway.
So next day I went to the service centre. I also told them about the fan issue but I do know if he understood. They took 2 hrs to fix the display. I was not able to see what they were actually doing as I was sitting outside. Once the laptop was repaired. I check for the display issue. It was fine. Still a little misaligned on left and right side. I asked about the vents he said sir you this laptop for few days if the issue continues we will repair it again. I agreed.
I was on the rly stn and was sitting on a seat and just wanted to check if everything was fine. First time when I turned on the laptop it didn't even turn on. I was trying for few mins but no use. I took a video quickly. Then after some time it started to work again but this time I noticed that on battery power without almost any programs running the CpU was reaching 90c and GPU was spiking at 85 degrees. (This was not a problem yesterday it happened after the display fixed at service center)Absurd temperatures. I quickly call them and asked them about this. I submitted the laptop to them with the chargee they said today it can't be repaired because engineer is not available. Maybe Tomorrow or day after it. I check by plugging the ac adapter. The temperature were 100c instantly. No apps running same with GPU around 85c.
I told my friend about this and he asked me asked lenovo for a laptop replacement completely. Asked my father was well he also agreed on that. It's not even being 1 year and so many issues. From display to battery to motherboard and now heatsink. I am not really sure if this laptop can last me more. It's not not even been a your since the day of purchase and so many issues have come fourth should I ask Lenovo for a complete replacement of the product or should I continue with the normal repair the service centre will do?
The servicing staff is highly highly highly negligent don't bring the appropriate tools needed for it and also due to the behaviour the heat sink issue started to come what should I do what do you recommend me to do please help.
your help will be appreciated.
it's been more than a week of this stuff. Help will be appreciated
What do I give the reason so as not to get rejected?
Lenovo Legion 5 Pro 16
I've adjusted the system settings so that Windows cannot turn off USB ports, but even that doesn't fix it. Any ideas? I'm down to my last USB, and it doesn't seem to be hanging on much longer.
Hello Board,
Lenovo has just released KWCN47WW (release date 19th Dec 2024, BIOS Date 23rd Aug 2024) on the following devices.
It's still on Intel Microcode 0x127, no 0x129, no 0x12B, so nothing new here. Also I couldn't spot anything new undocumented in the UEFI. So it's really just a security update.
Undervolting and SREP still works... ;) My advice for PSREP: Enable Intel WDT (to automatically apply XTU undervolts at startup and Real-Time Memory Timings, because changing DRAM settings in the UEFI can brick the Laptop.
My Stock Samsung DDR5 5600 46-48-48 runs fine at 5600 CL32-38-38 at Stock Voltage with AsusMemTweakIt.

I have a lenovo legion slim 5 with AMD 8845 and rtx 4060. I have just bought a thunderbolt dock 40 AC but it does not work with it. I downloaded the generic display link adapter too. On the other hand, the display and peripherals work completydine with three laptop when connected through a dell wd19 tbs docking station. Is this a docking station issue or a driver issue? My goal is not to charge but connect multiple screens and peripherals
Hey guys. I am trying to get money back here in Europe for my Legion 7 5800h 3070 laptop because of constant overheating and audio problems.
I have uploaded a video in other post. Playing PUGB online I have constant 100+ degrees of celsius on my CPU and around 86 on the video card (someone told me it is also pretty high for a GPU) and never going below. Same happens when playing Mafia Remake and other newer games.
It was in warranty 3 times, they repasted it twice and changed a heat sink. Didn’t help. I also have audio problems. It only reaches 69 decibels on Linkin Park - Lost at maximum and basically laptop is unusable without headphones. My acer nitro from 8 years ago measuring at 95 decibels on the same song. Warranty tried fixing audio issue by installing SoundFx app which only made the sound a little bit louder but also distorted. I don’t believe that’s a way to fix this issue.
Basically I am fighting with the warranty as they don’t want to refund me. I even filed a complaint with a government institution which is defending users. They are finishing the case and although I provided plenty information, videos, articles and so on, they still want more proof.
Can anyone help me find proof that 69 decibels is not normal? They asked for manufacturer specifications that would show how much decibels would be normal when playing audio on max on this Laptop. They also told me that warranty has said them that 5800H has maximum 105 degrees operating temperature and 100+ is normal. I think that doesn’t make sense as my laptop Is thermal throttling at 100+ and in most Legion 7 reviews on youtube with same specs, CPU doesn’t exceed 90 degrees when gaming. Could you also help me proving that 100+ CPU and ~86 GPU temps are bad for the laptop? Any help would be appreciated.
I have decided on the slim i5 model or the pro model with a 4070 GPU, however I am debating over the 8845hs, or the intel 14000hx series ones.
can you lot give me your personal experiences? The AMD gpu is considerably cheaper.
Hey everyone,
I just got my new Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (specs: i9-14900HX, RTX 4070, 32GB RAM), and it’s been amazing so far. However, I’ve noticed something slightly odd with the fan behavior and wanted to ask if this is normal.
Whenever the fan starts up, there’s a brief sound—almost like a click or a scrape—that lasts for about 0.3 seconds before the fan sounds smooth and normal. It’s not loud, but it’s noticeable, almost like something is clicking into place or adjusting.
Once the fan is running, the overall sound profile is great and smooth, but that initial jolt caught my attention. Could this just be related to the Legion Toolkit or a specific feature of Lenovo laptops?
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something to be concerned about? I’d really appreciate any input.
Thanks in advance!
I recently got a new legion 7i pro, and am looking to customize it get more out of it while trying to make sure the machine is not being overworked. I am relatively new to the technical side of PC hardware and software, so any guidance would be appreciated.
It does this during sleep/hibernation mode sometimes it unexpectedly restarts the whole PC
Im thinking of buying this laptoo for school. Im just wondering if I will be able to achieve atleast 8 hours of battery life and if it wont get too hot and loud?
Hi guys! I have a question. As most of us, seems like my mobo died. Yet my warranty expired like a year ago. I tried contacting support and they said I could no longer extend warranty because I should have done it 30 days prior expiring. But the website let's me buy it. You guys have any experience? Have you ever extended after 30 days expired? And anybody knows a safe way to know if it's mobo or RAM? Thank you guys!!
