Got this IRO Mark V a week ago. Got probably 50 miles on it thus far, from paved flat trails mostly. Love riding it, but I think first upgrade will be a wider riser bar. Also, want to mount a front light to the top tube, have seen some posts of people doing it well, would love some recs for lights that would work!
What’s your thought on digirit chainring. I’m just building a project bike that is focused on being lightweight and luxury parts. But I want it to be functional too. Is this chainring safe enough for streets?
100€ for a breda frame. Wheels and other stuff are pretty basic.
I'm getting a little more familiar with Fixie and wanted to try skidding. My bike is equipped with brakes on the front and rear wheels, so I don't need them, but I still yearn for them.
I decided to start with something easy and tried a hop skid (maybe not the right name), which is not a sliding skid, but a hop skid where the rear wheel floats a little, but I can't do it at all.
I try it as if I were jumping when the crank is level, but the rear wheel does not come up. On the contrary, the front wheel sometimes rises, which is strange.
I have not been able to grasp the feeling of pulling up the front leg and locking the back leg. I would like to know if there are any practice tips or easy-to-understand videos.
i'm very new to fixed gear, rode my singlespeed for about a year and just got brave enough to flip the wheel over to fixed. still getting used to back pressure and havent done my first skid, but the thing i'm hung up on right now is breaking all the little freewheel habits ive been relying on
like stopping at a light i just level my cranks and coast, then grab brakes so i can step my back foot down keeping my weight on the front pedal. or to dismount, coast with both legs over on one side then step down off the pedal. and foot retention is complicating everything too
could yall walk me through how you handle crank position and foot retention when mounting dismounting and pausing at lights?
Cant go higher because my rear rim is pretty fugged up….
I love my bike😄
Been really enjoying fixed gear, got the bike in April and been loving it since. I have upgraded the saddle and handlebars at the moment but definitely going to upgrade more parts over time. Have a good one everybody 👐.

Finally got my old daily (circa 1990’s) back up and running.
It was built to be fugly functional. 30 years later …. and nothing has changed apart from some new rust.
Also, on a personal note, I forgot how sore my arse used to get running 23’s on 100 psi.
Frame: 1970’s, cheap rattlecan brown spray and rando stickers.
Wheels: Velocity and 700 x 23’s
Groupset: all left over bits from the 90’s, Shimano 600 cranks, 105 brakes, Dura-Ace seatpost.
Cockpit: original Cinelli 44cm bars and stem.
Saddle: it’s so old I can’t find a label on it. It’s breaking down so I need something new.
(Oh hell no — are people riding full carbon saddles with no padding…?)
Lights: time for something new. I used to run 6 metres of green EL wire, zip tied to the frame, but that finally has died. It made for interesting night rides.
found this bike for 140€, almost impossible to find information about it, looks very expensive, can’t see what tubing is it and i think it was made for bike polo, do you think it’s possible to ride as fixed gear or sale for some $$$
State bicycle website has a 50% off in everything but bikes items im purchasing some omnium cranks right now and I added a brooks saddle and it’s 65 bucks instead of 129 cause of the discount. So if you guys wanted a brooks saddle for the low check em out. Edit: it’s the brooks B17 saddle
i want to try out fixed gear for the first time i just sold my old bike and is there anything particularly good(decent)for my price range
I, 21M, recently bought a fixie worth less than $300 from CityGrounds- the Golden Cycles Shocker. As someone that used to ride a BMX I never actually cared about specs and all I want is to build a sleeper fixie I can take out and ride however I want— a true it’s the rider not the bike mentality.
However, ironically I want to start learning how to build my bikes. The GC Shocker has a Hiten Steel Frame and relatively cheap but functional parts. I plan on keeping that frame and want to change the other parts for quality ones. I honestly dont care about wheels yet and im changing to pursuit bars soon.
SO if anyone knows parts I should slap on my babe lemme know- The specs on my bike should be online.
PS I dont care about frame material and I’ll buy a decent track bike once I start liking riding.
Went from 25 to 28 and wow. A lot smoother and unexpected bumps are much less jarring. I also really have a thing for brown/tan walls.
I just got into biking and after my second day my lower back is hurting , i haven’t been that active up until I rode my bike 2 days in a row for at least 3-4 hours each day so maybe that has something to do with it ? I also have a hunch back sort of and riding my bike makes my back straight , perhaps it’s normal for any beginner ? Idrk too much about bikes but I do know any type of back pain is bad pain… also my ass hurts, I didn’t really care I just wanted to ride so maybe that has something to do with it ? I’m the type of person to ride through the pain I got cramps towards the end and I still rode around for about 40 more minutes but I just can’t with my back every time i step my lower back on the opposite side hurts especially when I step to the left (ie I step with my left lower right back hurts… vice versa)
Edit : sorry for not keeping short just voicing everything and want to know what I should do that’ll actually help
