The Track Champions League finally goes to the Netherlands and makes it a double header to boot!
The local hero and reigning champion Lavreysen will have to step it up in front of the orange crowds, because Richardson beat him by quite a margin in both events last round.
On the women's Sprint Emma Finucane took the jersey with, Lysenko's celeste jersey only two points behind her. The Olympic Champion on both events, Andrews, couldn't make it to the finals and is in sixth place for now.
Meanwhile on the Endurance side of the competitions, Bibic managed to gather an eight point gap to number two Nilsson-Julien. Notably, last year's runner up Tidball had a bad day and only managed to scrape toghether 6 points placing him 15th.
Who else than Archibald got to parade around in celeste with a comfortable lead after a close win on Stenberg in the Scratch and dominating the Elimination race.
The programmes start at 19:00 CEST (when this post is 7 hours old) this evening and at 16:00 CEST tomorrow. You can find your broadcaster here: https://www.ucitrackchampionsleague.com/watch-the-races
I have roughly 6 months to build and taper into best race form to PB my F200 and kilo. The training is there already for track and gym but not sure how to taper down a month before event
Hi there, does anybody know what the maximum sized front chainring is that I could run without hitting the chainstay?
(Newest model of the Dolan DF4 with threaded bottom bracket, if that makes any difference)
Hi 2 months ago i watched the Olympics and started to get interested with track cycling. So i looked for clubs and tracks in my area and started my journey. But i am still on the same point that i started
How long does it took you to do a lap on a 250m track with confidence? Because it has been a month since my beginnings and I still can't do a lap of anp Olympic track, i can't even stay on a corner without falling or staying in the côte d'Azur.
Why do i keep failing too do a single corner ?
Hi :)
I'm putting my velodrome bike together and the final piece that's missing are the tyres. I'd be running 88x25 rims hooked. I kinda get confused as to which tyres I can run, do I need a track specific one and is narrow better ? (Nl team seems to run 25mm tyres instead a narrower ones)
Two tyres that I'm eyeing right now are the Vittoria pista control 23mm and the Continental gp 5000 tt 25mm. Would those be suitable for the wooden velodrome?
Planning on using latex tubes
Update: bought Vittoria Corsa Speed 23mm (30€ each)+ Vittoria latex tubes
How do the economics of the UCI Track Champions League or other high-profile track cycling events work for athletes? Do participants earn a base salary or appearance fee, and are there performance bonuses or prize money? How does this compare to the financial structure for athletes in road cycling’s Continental or World Tour teams?
For context, I've started gym and track this year with no sport background beside from starting road cycling 2 years ago. Now that it's reaching end of year, I can do 1750w but I was told from this point on I can't improve from doing my own thing without a coach if I want to hit 2000w.
Is 2000w achievable within a coach and at a reasonable weight (currently 78kg)?
We're almost coming to the end of an exciting year, but it's not over yet because we still have the UCI Track Champions League to go! The competition will be 5 rounds again, but in addition to the final weekend in London, Apeldoorn will also host two rounds next week.
18 riders in each of the four categories will battle it out for the celeste jersey and the oval trophy. Well, except for the Men's Endurance, Eiya Hashimoto, who wore the leader's jersey in Berlin last year, unfortunately had a nasty crash in the Japanese Keirin series.
Last year, Lavreysen and Archibald comfortably held the top spot from the first race on, whilst Andrews battled it out with Pröpster, and Bibic was able to hang on despite a nervous final weekend.
This year it'll be the first time we'll see Matthew Richardson in British colours which will feel weird for a bit. I bet he'll be motivated to wear his new kit proudly, but also challenge Harrie after not being able to get close to him at the Olympics.
No PanAm Games this year so the likes of Bayona and Quintero will be closer in the GC, if not ending up on the final podium.
Also, Mathilde Gros is back in the TCL, she skipped last year in preparation for the Olympics. Most Germans on the other hand already started hibernation, only Pröpster and Spiegel will participate.
The programme starts at 17:00 CEST. You can find your broadcaster here: https://www.ucitrackchampionsleague.com/watch-the-races
There's also an app with live data and more news and info
As we know, Glaetzer retired and a certain rider did what they did which led to Hoffman becoming P2 in team sprint and also racing the sprint and keirin (in upcoming TCL). Just interested in the training and what changes that's all.
Specifically the ones he used for Track Champions League in 2023 they have a unique shape with a very very short drop and beefy false hoods picture included
My beloved Dolan DF4 Machine. On this pic sadly 49/15 cause that are the swiss regulations for U17 riders, currently mounted 56/16.
Getting back into racing next year after a long hiatus. I have a few 1/8th chainrings around from my past racing, but trying to decide if I want to go 3/32th or 1/8th. I am 100% an enduro, not a big rider by any means but I can crack out about 1,300 watts. It seems like a lot of endurance riders are using narrow chains now, but it seems like the options for master links for 1/8th chains (Izumi nut and bolt type, 3 piece clip, etc.) are better for frequent swapping. What does everyone recommend?
In another variation on recommendations, I'm curious as to suggestions for purchasing a new, entry-level frame in the US (NYC). I know the Dolan Pre Cursa is much-loved, but it appears to be shipped from the UK only. As a large person (193 cm / 6'4"), I have very limited options on the secondary market. I typically ride 60/61 cm frames, though I have been told in the last that I could maybe squeeze onto a 58.
For background, I used to race road and cross up until about 8 years ago. I had a limited experience with track in college and now, living in NY, I'd like to see about getting into that.
All I can find in NYC are some All-City Thunderdomes in stock for $1600 (seems like a lot).
Unfortunately my track bike was stolen out of storage and I'm looking to replace it. Mostly trying to figure out if I should get another aluminum frame (was previously on a giant omnium) like the new Dolan Pre-Cursa, BMC TrackMachine AL, Cinelli Vigorelli, etc. and having more budget for wheels/drivetrain or if it'd be worth stepping up for a carbon frameset like the Look Madison 875 or Velobike M2 (or any other recommendations). I'm a heavier guy at ~225lb and put down reasonable watts (~1600) so I'd obviously want something fairly stiff and durable, geo would lean more towards a sprinting than enudrance.
There are surprisingly few images, reviews and general information floating around on these framesets... so adding one here.
My daughter is pushing 170cm and needed something a bit longer for the rest of this (souther hemisphere) track season. This is a 53 but I'm really not sure where that measurement is taken. Everytime I measure the top tube I come up with 54 or 55 c-t-c.
We will pick up a velobike stem now that fit has been confirmed but other than that it's pretty set as is for outdoor and with other wheels indoor.
Anyway, my impressions are that it is very nicely made, the top (visible) layer of carbon is super neat. It's definitely not a lightweight and I think it will handle all the power that she (or I) could ever throw at it.
Hoping it will be a good companion for both mass start and individual events for a year or two.
Hello :)
im new to track cycling and had my first two sessions at the local velodrome, enjoyed it a lot :) Could see myself doing that as a winter alternative to the zwifting. (Other than that i do road cycling about 8-14h a week. So i would say that i have some base fitness at least. )
Well did some research etc. in order to get an idea about the equipment and techniques etc. It seems like there is a lot less than there is on road cycling:
Do you guys have any recommendations for resources regarding training and techniques ?
Also what would be a good bike to buy ? (1,90m 91cm inseam) Second-Hand market seems to be non-existend in Germany :( so i was looking for some of those chinese frames, like the BXT and Velobuild, can those be recommended ?
The standard Elite Track Chainring will cost $92-$128. A Kappstein chainring will cost your around $250. Why is there such a price difference? The velobike one seems like a top-of-the like chainring already, but it’s less than half the price
I’m building up a track bike and I’m deciding what chain to buy. There seems to be 3 factors.
Durability
Friction
Longevity
I’m not really sure how much I should spend and what difference it would make. What would you recommend?
Namely custom wheelset with LightBicycle tubular rims, Sitero+ saddle and a 3T sprint cockpit. I‘ve only been able to ride the bike on the rollers (there‘s only an outside velodrome where I live) but it‘s starting to feel really good. Excited for spring
Hello everybody
I have some wheels for track cycling that require clincher tires, and I thought of using TPU tubes for indoor track racing - the wood floor, instead of standard butile.
The advantages are quite clear: light, holding air reasonably well, good rolling resistance.
My questions:
a. can they withstand the pressure in track cycling (using with 23mm Challenge clinchers)?
b. any reports or stories about catastrophic failure / explosions in mid sprint?
c. any particular brand to have in mind? The standard aliexpress ones (like RideNow) seem a bit too large (covering 18-28 or 18-30) for 23mm tires. Anything to avoid at all costs?
I've read on the Victoria website that Filippo Ganna employed some (very expensive) Victoria clinchers with some Victoria TPU tubes... if they were good for the kind of power Filippo Ganna produces, they should be good for me as well. But I'd rather go for an Aliexpress version....
d. any other comments on the topic - please!
Thinking of getting a budget track frame to start a track build. Which one would you recommend I get? Dolan is cheaper, but not by much. Only about $100. BXT is really tempting, but I've heard a little bit about seatpost slippage? Is that an issue? I'm not a very heavy rider.
Of all the grips or bar tapes you use, is there a product you would recommend best for track handlebars?
My FTP is 301 but I'm 6'3/220 (strength sports background), local velodrome only does tempo races so I'm trying to improve my cardio on a trainer during winter time. How reasonable is this plan? Any glaring issues or things missing? Thanks/sorry if this is dumb
