When and why do we need a multiband compressor? What's the best way to use it?
Hello! I'm rather new to Cubase after being with Cakewalk for a while and I'm just getting used to where everything is and how everything works. I had my audio output set to my headphones. Unfortunately, my headphones accidentally unplugged while working and now, after I've plugged them back in, I can't hear a thing. I've tried restarting my computer but nothing seems to work to help me get my sound back. I can't hear that track or any other. Can someone help me? I'm stressed out lol
My tracks miss glue.
Would be great if some mixing experienced people could tell me how they achieve more cohesiveness.
I make hip hop and honestly never grouped stuff together. Maybe I should make busses like drums (hats, crash’s , kick , snare etc) , vocals (often I don’t have vocals), all other instruments except bass? But how to process them to make them more cohesive?
Is it enough to , for example ‚ add a tape saturation plugin on the individual groups/buses?
Do you compress all those buses for this purpose?
Please let me know
Hey guys I am composing a song! And using vsts for drums! Can someone please guide how can I have drums added on different parts of song with diff tempo!
Example - intro with tempo as 80 BPM... And later on chorus with increased tempo
Hey,
I saw that Cubase allows to transfer keys to other users, which is nice. However, I was wondering if any of you know of a standard place to advertise for reselling a license.
Thanks in advance.
Hello! My VST asks me to "send MIDI CC#111", I spent an hour trying to understand what this means in practice in Cubase, can anyone help? cheers.
Snare roll? Is it possible with just a snare sample and toms ?
How do processors with 3D cache feel in a DAW, what is better to choose to work with minimal latency?
Quadrafuz is so freaking amazing. By far my favorite distortion plugin. It’s even better than other 3rd party multiband distortion from Fabfilter. I only wish I could have these plugins in other DAWS
Hi, I have a qustion about bitrate downsampling dithering. I often use iZotope RX and when exporting you can choose between native 32bit or downsampling to 16bit with TPDF (white noise). I want to know if its better to take the native 32bit file (from RX) into Cubase 13 and then export it to 16bit (after editing), or is it better to do this already in iZotope RX? So which software handles it better, does it make even a difference?
Also in Cubase 13 export/mixdown window I don't see any dithering options.
Thanks for any help :)
Hi all,
I am going mad with this. This issue is making it impossible to record at the moment.
I use my Kemper Powerhead with Cubase 13 Pro via USB. I was using ASIO4ALL, without issue for months. Two weeks ago this behaviour started. I would start recording via the Kemper, I would get two bars in and the recording would then stop and skip to the end of the timeline.
Video attached; https://youtu.be/9JrQBH42fXY
I am now using the Kemper ASIO driver with the same results.
I am hoping that others are using Kemper over USB with Cubase to help ensure I have set my DAW up correctly. It's driving me insane.
Deskspace is a premium so whilst I could use another interface, I'd rather not as the Kemper USB was working really well. I have no doubt it's something not setup correctly.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Hey guys I am using cubase 12 connected to my live mixer (Yamaha mg-10xu). I am trying to record 4 channels separately in cubase. However cubase is picking up everything in a single track! Any clue how I can record all instruments separately? I.e. channel 1 - vocals Channel 2 - guitars, channel 3 - bass, channel 4 - drums.
For now all are getting mixed in a single track.
I'll start by saying that I have been using cubase now for 16 years!! But with undiagnosed adhd (newly diagnosed), my head couldn't comprehend overload of information. The result was that I started "learning by doing", trying to find out how to do what I needed whilst recording.
This has over time created a very uneven and extremely inefficient knowledge on how to use the program. I would actually like to start from the beginning, and even learn basics all over.
Things like custom hot keys and pre-saved templates are all new to me. The fact that I can quickly add audio tracks, cut tracks, snap then to marker etc, it's all new to me. And it was probably always there to begun with!!
I follow Dom, and the likes, on YT. But I need to fill the gaps where things are obvious to others. Advice?
I want to connect an electronic drum kit, a keyboard, and a bass guitar.
I have Cubase 13 Pro and am just starting to learn to use the Vocoder effect. As of now, after watching a few Cubase/Steinberg videos with Dom Sigalas, I have a Vocoder audio track with external midi output from a separate midi track. Using my midi keyboard I can control the notes of the audio output, routed through the vocoder. The problem I am facing is that I am attempting to use a different instruments/sounds for the audio/vocals to be routed through, other than the handful of Cubase preset vocoder effects which are ALL robotic sounds. I am aware that generally vocoders make the voice sound robotic and that I can adjust the parameters. But I want to know if I can route a completely different instrument/effect altogether? For example, can I use the vocoder effect but have it routed through a string library or synth instrument from HALion, Analog Lab, Kontakt, etc? If so, how?
So I have a 1080p screen and, while I'm not wondering why the plug-in window sizes are inconstent throughout the hours and days, I drag-move the window as high as possible to get to that triangle icon on the bottom right of the window which allows resizing vertically.
In my 25 years using Cubase I somehow "manage", I can never say how, I just struggle until it's fixed.
Now I'm an old man and I can't manage anymore. But hey, it's 2024, and although UI designs still have antisocial tendensies, I'm thinking users find quick fixes and shortcuts to save the day!
Would you please share some technique for quickly fix the plugin window sizing?
Windows in general have the Alt+Space > Size > Arrow keys fix but not in Cubase (Size is greyed out). So the slow fixes I have left is increase DPI to decrease scaling to unreadable levels and/or hide the windows task - then I revert to normal after I resized the plugin window. It's not optimal.
EDIT: Since it's NI Kontakt, I found a fix in Kontakt options "Reset size".
Hi, all, hope you're doing well. I'm a beginner Cubase user, I made a song a couple of months back and I'm getting read to release it soon (been working on a little music video for it). The song is basically guitar and vocals, about 7 minutes long. It's a 3-part rap in Spanish, English, and Spanglish.
To get right to the point, I'm still pretty terrible at Cubase and I feel like what I composed could greatly benefit from someone professional looking over it and "cleaning it up," e.g. making it sound better through audio engineering. What I made sounds -just okay-, but I feel like it could sound waaay better with the right tools that I don't know how to use. It's also begging for some beats/percussion/drums. It just needs to sound better-quality.
I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in doing this for monetary compensation and for credit on the music video. You can comment and I can DM you or you can just DM me.
Thank you!
Clicking on the pad makes the drum sound, but having the midi notes at C1 doesn't.
I ve been stuck on a project in 11 that went way over time.
So I just finally used my upgrade to 12 pro. I also had the upgrade to 13 pro, but then I got a grace period code when I used the 12 upgrade (if that makes sense), so all of a sudden I had 2 codes.
Anybody want it?
If this post reaches 20 upvotes, I'll drop the code in the comments, first to use it, owns it.
Maybe not the place to post this, but does anyone know if there is another way to install the drivers for my Steinberg UR12 other from the cd, since I have looked basically everywhere in my house and I seem to have lost it :( Thank you
Hello,
When recording a vocal i monitor the direct sound of the mic into the soundcard mixer (antelope) where i mix the mic direct sound and the cue mix coming from cubase. I would like to be able to send the previous vocal recording of the track until i am punching but not when i am in the punch section without having to turn it off in the cue section of the track. Otherwise the singer ears it twice and with a delay: from the direct sound of the soundcard mixer and thru the cue with latency. I also want to hear in my control room when punching. Is there a function in cubase where when in punch-in mode (or even record on existing track) the monitoring is automatically cut in the cue only and not in the control room. And of course i don't want to use another track for the punch, i want to do the punch in the same track. Of course if you have ultra low latency you do every thing in cubase using tape style monitoring in preferences (but i have to much latency even at minimum buffer size). How do you manage this issue with your sound card (that doesn't have direct monitoring option from cubase) ? If you have any explanation or video link, you are welcome.Thank you
I had purchased a couple of cubase licenses for 2 of my systems but don't remember buying a 3rd one. But when I open the steinberg download assistant, it shows all three versions. Does this mean I have full versions of all three cubases?
Sometimes I use samples of old songs and the sample way too much panned on one side, but just panning it to the other side is not working, cause it kind of disappears:
Any advice for such situations?
Hey, is there a quick way to A/B different INSERT Strip Setups (num of loaded VST and diff config) on a track?
Edit: the release time acts different. Slower, even with same numbers.
Would be interesting for a beginner in mixing, cause we still orientate to some degree after numbers
I was reading this in the Cubase forum from a member there.
„Some people have trouble using the stock Cubase compressors because they don't realize that their release is much slower than other compressors. 50ms release would probably be labeled 500ms in a third party compressor.“
