I was discussing with my wife the other day about how I would handle a championship. That got me thinking that my emotions would probably be different between each team. To be fair I only have 2 diehard favorite professional sports teams (Browns and Guards). I've never been a NBA fan and CBJ just aren't "diehard" yet for me. My fanhood began in the late 80's so I've seen a good chunk of heartbreak and joy.
How would you react to YOUR favorite teams?
The off-season is upon us. Discussion threads will move to weekly. Shitpost rules are relaxed in the off-season but screenshots and text posts that could be comments in this thread will still be steered to this weekly thread.
We're looking to update the visitor's guide so if you're interested in contributing, send us a modmail.
It still doesn't feel real.
The most dominant pitcher I've ever seen wear a Cleveland uniform. One of the most dominant reliever seasons ever seen.
And it ends like that.
He's only human. But so many nights at the ballpark I've seen him be anything but.
In 2022 he was fantastic. In 23, vulnerable but mostly good. In 24 he was sensational. And it's hard to imagine it can get any better.
But will it? Has he peaked?
What does he need to do to remain elite? And what happened to let it go so wrong when we needed him most?
Why we might have a chance at Goldschmidt:
He is a Free Agent coming off a bad year.
Josh Naylor is set to make 14 million in arbitration in 2025 which he isn't worth.
We made it to the ALCS (He wants to be on a playoff team), Cleveland rules, and Go Cavs!
How could it happen you say?
Goldschmidt sits longer in free agency because of his bad season last year, and just less money in the league. Fangraphs says he is worth about 26m. MAYBE that is too rich for most teams and that number falls to 18m or so.
Naylor can be good, but he has run out of gas for two seasons straight at the end of the season. So, I propose we trade him for some SP pitching. We might get an ok haul for him. We might be able to the Yankees or even the Cards. Who knows. My dream is Luis Gil.
Goldschmidt would only sign for a one-year or two-year deal for 18m a year. I feel we could swing that because our window is closing in the Central.
Anyway, what do you guys think? Totally crazy? Would you even want him? Honestly, he will probably go to the Yankees but a man can dream. Thanks for reading and Go Guards!
In response to the gold glove announcement Ive seen a ton of people asking for a Kwan extension and I get it and Id love to see it (but doubt it would happen) but I think we're overlooking another part of our outfield as well.
Lane Thomas is estimated to garner ~8 million in arbitration this upcoming season, going into his free agent year. Our system is loaded with left handed bats but lacks righties and so he fills a very important role this team would otherwise struggle with. He was a culture fit from day one and the rest of the team rallied around him even when he struggled, and that paid dividends going into September and the playoffs. I think he and the team are in a unique position where for most of the bigger market teams he'd be a platoon option but is essential to balance our lineup in Cleveland. He seems like the kind of guy who is both within our price range and also wouldn't have as much of a home elsewhere. I'd love to see this team keep him here for 4-5 more years. thoughts?
Yeah I get we don’t pay guys, but they just basically took money from one of their star players to save $1.5-2.5M
Latest stats show he’s hitting .345/.513/.552 with an OPS of 1.065. I can’t wait to see him with the big club next season!
Also, it’s been so long since we had a player with a cool nickname, and since DeLauter rhymes with “slaughter” I would like to put “Butcher of Baseballs” in contention as a possibility! I’d love to hear opinions or other suggestions!
I've read in a few reports that the Guardians are looking to aquire Michael Wacha for 3 yrs @ $45M.
Personally, I think this would be a great pickup. Wacha has been a sub 3.4 ERA pitcher for 3 different clubs over the last 3 years. He would be number 2 or 3 in our rotation depending on Bieber. However, I feel like signing Wacha may rule out Bieber's return.
If the Guardians resign Bieber and sign Wacha, I believe the Dolans will move all in on the '25 season.
Was listening to a Japanese baseball podcast and heard a familiar name was top 5 in the NPB in OPS+ and had to check for myself and they were right. Franmil was top 5 in the NPB's Pacific League in HR's, RBI, Slugging, OPS, top 10 in batting average and 12th in OBP this season. He still strikes out a ton but he seems to be making quite the name for himself out there.

I feel like he would be a perfect fit for us in right field. As much as I'd hate to see Josh go, might be time to get something for him that will last beyond next season and Jhonk/Manzardo could get a strong look as a platoon combo at 1B/DH
In my opinion, the team should hire Kevin Seitzer as their new hitting coach. He played for the Cleveland Indians and did wonders in Atlanta. To me, it seems like a no brainer decision!
Anyone know if there is video somewhere out there of national anthems. The woman that sang on this day was from Broadway and it was an elite rendition and our family was hoping to find it online so we can listen to it again. Thanks in advance
Sorry if I'm posting this incorrectly for your sub, if so, mods do what ya gotta do.
Coming from the Jays sub, going around to the postseason teams subs and posting my first compilation vid. Playoffs hyped me up, had to do it.
The way the WS ended had me scrambling to figure out a suitable ending to it, you'll see what I mean
John Means of Baltimore just hit the market as a free agent. He has an injury history and did not make a clean return in 2024. He has the offseason to get himself right and make an impact in 2025. I think either a 1/2 year deal is likely for him in the 8-10 million range feels about right. This dude was solid before he got hurt. He will be 32 on April 24rh and always seemed like a solid clubhouse guy. He is a lefty that has the stuff to be a 2/3 starter, but more than likely will put up 3/4 starter numbers. Maybe we can unlock the value in him. Thoughts? I've always liked him.
Gotta open up the pockets and spend a bit. only 3 of the 30 weren’t in the top half of payroll and only 9 of the 30 weren’t in the top 10.
