Hey there, I'm a senior looking to apply to Butler. Some important factors for my education are flexibility and being able to dive into a subject in depth. I've found that many colleges with a core curriculum limit the depth to which students can learn about a specific subject of their interest, and therefore I've been steering toward more colleges with open curriculums. That being said, I'm still considering Butler despite its core curriculum.
Here are my questions:
How much (i.e. what percent) of the schedule do core classes take up?
Are advanced-level STEM classes required as part of the core?
Have you found use & benefit in the required core classes you've had to take?
Does your schedule remain flexible enough to take elective classes you really want to take?
Upperclassmen, have you been able to explore your topic is as much depth as you'd have liked considering required core classes take up a decent part of your schedule?
Thanks!
Are you allowed to park in the surrounding neighborhood for an event at Clowes Hall during weekends?
I notice there are signs that do not allow Butler parking on some of the streets.
I know there is a garage, but are we able to park at Hinkle Fieldhouse as well?
What’s up with all the bell/chimes songs today? I don’t go to school at butler but I live extremely near by. Are they from the school? Why is there so many today? What are they for?? Someone tell me the details!! Just curious since I usually only hear them 3 times-ish a day.
Looking for my classmates and teachers here
Hey all,
I'm coming tonight to see Hadestown and was planning to park in the Sunset Garage (as recommended in my email). Then I got another email that said they have multiple events happening tonight and to come early. The play starts at 7:30 and doors open at 6.
Do you think there's a chance the garage will be full? If it is, where's the best place to park? I've never been there before. Also, the Butler website says there's a $10 parking fee. Is that still accurate?
Thank you!!
I have a summer internship in Fishers and I am looking for a place to sublease from May 25th-Early August. Please let me know if you are looking to sublease your apartment or know where to look, thanks!.

We need to find 2 pre paid/reserved parking spots near the observatory on campus for our families on April 8 (the day of the eclipse.) We will have elderly folks with us so we'd like to arrange it in advance. Please share advice or ideas you may have. Thank you!
I just got the faith and vocation scholarship but it says “honorary recipient” so I’m kinda nervous I didn’t get it and I got some sort of runner up prize type thing. Could anyone confirm what this means?
I got an internship in Indy and I am looking to sublease an apartment for the summer. If anyone has a place please dm me. Also are there any other sources where I could find subleases. Thanks!
First Butler bears DePaul and they (DePaul) fire their coach. Then the Dawgs beat Villanova and they call for their coach to be fired. Now we beat Creighton in their house and it ends Creighton’s 33 game home winning streak going all the way back to 1978 and they are not happy. Tuesday is UConn. I hope UConn does like all the other teams and underestimate the Dawgs. The Dawgs are a whole lot better than they were earlier in the season.

How did Steve Farley go from winning a school record 588 games at Butler – almost twice as many as the guy in second, fellow named Hinkle – to the kennels of the Humane Society? https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2023/05/11/steve-farley-won-588-games-at-butler-now-he-walks-dogs-for-humane-society/70145680007/
Anyone have a suggestion about where to put info about a house for rent near Butler? 2 bedroom 1.5 bath, we'd be willing to rent partially furnished with 12 month lease. We're just off 42nd st.
I am a junior in high school right now and I am looking to go to somewhere with a good computer science program. Let me know what you guys think about the program.
Are they big enough to fit a tv and Xbox? Did you ever have a bad roommate experience? Are people usually pretty courteous? This will play a big part in whether I commute or live on campus so please be honest.
So I'm facing a dilemma. I got into Butler and ISU. My college is paid for, and I'm getting a business degree. so at ISU I would share housing my fraternal twin brother, and I know for sure they would take my 37 transfer credits from duel credit classes in HS. on the other hand, I can go to Butler, which I've wanted to since I was a kid. I have no idea how many of my credits they will accept and I won't be close to family. Any suggestions?
