I was hit tonight and the driver initially stopped but ended up speeding away. My husband was hit a couple years ago and it was the same issue. They didn’t even slow down. I have a sprained spine, whiplash, and a concussion. The car that hit me had its plates covered and was a rusted out large black van, probably from the 90s. Are there any avenues I could take?
I’ll be moving to the southern part of Geist at the end of 2025 and I’m doing some Google scouting for LGSs in the area. There seems to be no shortage of game stores in Indianapolis to play Magic. So, for the more nerdy inclined residents of Indy, where would be the best location to go?
Seems like it is actively-ish being worked on.
Hi all - I have a friend in need of rental assistance in Clay township/Hamilton county. I'm not well-versed on resources, but I know they've reached out to the trustees, 211, and some local churches. They're behind $1600. It's due on the 4th, and their landlords aren't willing to work with them, despite always paying their rent. If you happen to know of any resources, I'd appreciate the help!
Driving back from central Illinois to Louisville and the roads have been fine except in Indy. It took me 1.5 hours to get from Speedway on 465 until exit 53b to get on i65. All traffic was going 5-15mph because the roads were plowed but not salted. Pretty much ice the whole way. Just ranting, but is this normal for Indianapolis?
Are there any conference rooms, meeting rooms, restaurants with private dining areas for a small group on the southside of Indy or in Greenwood for a morning meeting with 10ish people? I am having a hard time finding anything. Thank you for any ideas.
hey im a college student coming into town for the big ten championship game on saturday. i know nothing about indianapolis though. is the public transportation system good there? does anything run to lucas oil stadium? or should i just rely on ubers? thanks.
I originally posted this in the Colts sub but I'd like to get some more opinions on here as well.
Hi there - I don't live in Indiana but I have become an Indianapolis sports fan due to their proximity of where I'm currently at. I'm a die-hard Pacers fan, but I find myself watching more NFL as the years go on and this has been the first year I've really paid attention to the Colts.
I make it up to Indy a few times a year for Pacers games and I'll make it up eventually to see the Colts. From what I can tell, Indy is a Colts town first and foremost, and it seems to have been that way since the Sheriff came and went. From my research, this is how I imagine public opinion of sports have been in Indy thru the decades (if someone is able to validate this it would be appreciated):
80's - No man's land for both teams due to extreme mediocrity. Pacers peaked with two first round exits in the 80's. Colts moved to Indy in '84 and peaked with a single first round exit in '87.
90's - Pacers town. Reggie Miller leads the team to a string of conference finals appearances throughout the decade as the team becomes a contender.
The Colts struggled thru the 90's, but hit a Cinderella run with Jim Harbaugh in '95. How big was this for the team/city? Unfortunately, things wouldn't consistently turn around for the Colts for a few more years.
Early 00's - Probably the best time to be a fan of Indy sports in general. Pacers make the Finals in 2000 and continue to contend up until Malice.
The Sheriff also starts to go on a tear, enough said.
Late 00's - Switch from Pacers town to Colts town. Malice at the Palace destroys any goodwill the Pacers had created over the past decade and it becomes very easy to switch over to football with the Colts winning a Superbowl.
10's - Still a Colts town. You would think that there would be a brief period of the Pacers gaining more traction with Paul George at the beginning of the decade / Manning going to Denver, but a single tank year leads to Andrew Luck and another decade of quarterback excellence.
20's to Present - Still a Colts town, although it's been rough for both the Colts and Pacers. Colts have gone thru the quarterback carousel and now are going thru the warts with AR. Pacers finally broke it down to the studs and landed a franchise-altering trade in Haliburton, but this season has been a tough watch.
Honestly? If Caitlin Clark goes on a tear then Indy may turn into a Fever city.
I apologize for the rambling of this post, but thank you in advance for reading/responding!
Any good steak for less than $30 per steak?
Does anyone know what the loud booms are that keeping happening in Cumberland/the far east side? They sound almost like fireworks, but both incidents are isolated from one another (about an hour apart) and not consistent like one would expect with fireworks. They didn't sound like gun shots either.
After the first huge boom about an hour or so ago, I thought maybe a transformer blew, but the same big boom just happened again in the same general area. I don't see or hear any emergency vehicles, so I'm honestly at a loss as to what the booms could be.
[Yes I checked the website and didn't see anything. Yes I tried to call and got no answer.]
I want to buy tickets to an IMAX movie in advance. If I go online, they charge a "booking fee". Does anyone know if I can go in-person to get tickets in advance and avoid the booking fee?
Why is that intersection ALWAYS wet? There was snowy slush this morning. Looks like a lot of salt. But for at least the last several weeks it has been wet at that intersection every time I’ve gone through it.
saw this dog in our neighborhood, he seems semi friendly just very fearful. tried to get him in my car and he was barking and walking away, tail completely tucked. the non emergency police line said that iac wont come pick him up, but that i can call the mayors action line tomorrow. its way too cold for him to be out. i would try to get him, but i have a 17 year old dog at home so i wouldnt be able to keep him at my place.
posting this cuz im hoping some pitbull lover can come and grab him. i dont think hes aggressive enough to attack, as long as he feels comfortable enough he’ll probably come. didnt have any treats with me
saw him last week in the same spot, not sure if its a neighbors but still its way too cold for him to be out. spotted off of wisconsin st and capital. gonna post on indy lost pet as well

Anyone know when Aspen Creek Grill in Indianapolis/greenwood area is supposed to open?
The one on Morris & Shelby is closing.
So much space for something interesting to replace it. Still, I’m preparing myself to be disappointed by a different dollar chain moving in.
Hope someone here has good news!
Edit: A couple people shared that the space was bought by “Dr Tavel Realty” but they did not know what for. Could be a location for their eyewear business, could be just for development.
Fellow drivers, we all agree the road would be a better place if everyone followed the rules of common courtesy and traffic laws. Yet, here we are, plagued by the scourge of left-lane squatters—those who cruise leisurely in the passing lane, oblivious to the frustration they cause. They clog up the flow of traffic, forcing faster drivers to weave dangerously or tailgate just to get past.
My misaligned headlights? They’re not just a flaw; they’ve become a feature—a beacon of justice in a world where slow drivers abuse the left lane. Do I get flashed by other drivers? Sure. Do I wish my headlights weren’t misaligned? Of course. But until those left-lane lurkers learn to move over, my headlights have found a higher calling: motivating them to abide by the rules of the road.
When I come up behind a left-lane camper and my headlights remind them that they’re obstructing faster traffic, I’m not just being petty—I’m providing a public service. By encouraging them to move over, I’m improving traffic flow for everyone behind me. It’s a small price to pay for progress. In a way, my headlights are like nature’s way of self-regulation, like a mosquito buzzing in your ear until you finally close the screen door.
Let’s also not forget that the left lane isn’t for sightseeing or casual conversation—it’s the passing lane. Drivers who refuse to respect this basic principle are the real hazards, creating unnecessary frustration, road rage, and bottlenecks. Misaligned headlights may be annoying, but they’re far less dangerous than the havoc left-lane loafers wreak every day.
So, here’s my deal: I’ll adjust my headlights when everyone else adjusts their behavior. When drivers consistently move over for faster traffic and use the left lane properly, I’ll gladly fix my beams. Until then, I’ll use this unintended advantage to restore a little order to the roads.
I 24M am moving to the Castleton area this weekend. I'm moving from SLC, UT but I grew up in Grand Rapids, MI. Hoping to make some new friends and learn more about Indy!
I love sports, mostly Detroit based teams but I would love to see a Pacers and/or Fever game. Are there any rec centers with sports leagues around? I'd be interested in pickup basketball and/or soccer. I also love bouldering, walking trails, parks, and biking. I enjoy cooking and would love to learn more. I'd be open to joining a cooking class if you have suggestions. I haven't had any luck finding any yet.
I'm also a bit of a nerd. I'm a fan of PC gaming and retro consoles. I'm happy indy has Disk replay, its exactly Disk traders in GR. I'm also sucker for board games. My favorite board game is settlers of catan.
I'm not much of a drinker, I'm boring and like water 😅. I've been researching groups to join and things to do, but if you have suggestions please let me know. Thank you!!!
I’ve been to the Kan Kan countless times since it opened. Love the vibe, the staff, and the food. It’s been one of my go-to spot for years. Recently, the chef and management changed. It seems all the staff did too. Vibes are different and I’m just not feeling it. It’s still a nice place, but not what I’m used to. Anyone else feeling this way? Anymore info on the changes? All I know is what I wrote here.
