Report Ryan Walters Expected to Get More Time

Just ugh. Report from Pete Thamel that Purdue will most likely give Ryan Walters more time and provide more NIL. Did mention that it's not guaranteed he returns and that if the blow outs continue he could still be fired

Boilermakers in the Pros

I started a year ago working on an app to making it easier for me to keep track of former athletes from my favorite colleges in the NFL, NBA, WNBA, etc. It's not quite polished, but it saves 20 minutes every morning checking box scores and instead it sends me a daily email tracking player from selected schools. I'm trying to make it better and I would love any thoughts: https://www.fandaily.io/schools/purdue

Ryan Walters update

Anyone connected have any updates on if we are gonna move on from Walters this week? I had heard rumblings before the Illinois game that we'd be moving on if we lost to both Illinois and Oregon. Curious if any updates

5 quick takeaways from Purdue vs. Oregon

Lackluster under the lights. 5 quick takeaways

  1. Putting up zero points at Ross Ade indicates just how out of sync the offense was all night.

  2. The Defense had moments where it fought hard to keep The Boilermakers in the game. With that said, they too struggled for most of the night.

  3. I'm all for giving a coaching staff time to rebuild, but with the decommits, justified frustration of the fanbased, and the state of college football, Time is running out quickly for Ryan Walters and last night makes his seat much much hotter. I'm not sure he will get a 3rd season at this rate.

  4. Reggie Love had a decent night running the ball and I'm still all for starting Ryan Browne for the rest of the season. Brown will need others to step up around him and help going forward.

  5. Whatever inspiration this team had following the the efforts of the Illinois game have vanished just like that in a snap. We shall see if they can find another spark to end the season strong at home vs. Northwestern in 2 weeks time.

Could not score. Could not prevent scoring. I feel sorry for the school.

Thanks in advance

purdue oregon tailgate questions

First tailgate at purdue (my son is a freshman).

Questions

--Do the police actively search for underage drinkers? If its in a solo cup are they ok?

--Is there a difference between IM fields vs IM Gold tailgating parking?

--What time should I arrive at IM fields for a good spot?

--Where is "Slayter Hill" in relation to IM fields.

thanks

Cheap or Free Parking Spots for Purdue games?

I’m taking a little road trip with my brother this weekend to catch Oregon @ Purdue and then Michigan @ Illinois. I was hoping I could get some recommendations on parking for the Purdue game. I just asked a similar question in an Illini board, but if there are any recommendations for parking for that one too, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Tailgate Friday

I’m a Ducks fan driving in from Tulsa to catch the game Friday night. It’ll be the wife, 2 boys and myself. Looking for recommendations on what to get into on Friday before the game. Plan on spending most of the day floating around town/campus. Anyone have a tailgate that we might could crash, will pitch in on food, booze, etc. pretty laid back family. Both boys loves to play football, Cornhole, etc. Wife and I are mid 30s. Really laid back, pretty easy going.

5 takeaways from Purdue at Illinois

Tough loss with some silver linings. 5 takeaways

  1. In his Boilermaker debut, Ryan Browne looked poised and focused.
  • 18/26 for 297 yards and 3 touchdowns. Mighty fine stats for a qb making his first college start.
  • The first half was slow, but in the second half, Browne played with massive amoutns of conidence, making terrific throws and using his legs when he needed too. And the offense followed his lead.
  • For Coach Walters and Purdue football, the best course of action going forward is to keep Ryan Browne starting under center. Things won't always go well for Browne and he's still has plenty to learn, but right now the team needs to focus on the future in this lost season and getting Ryan Browne experince and reps will help the team a ton. (I'm sorry Hudson Card)
  1. Coach Walter's calling shots on offense sounds crazy, yet today it actually worked. The best the offense has looked in B1G play this season.
  • The offense put up over 500 total yards of offense and 49 points. the most this season for Purdue since Indiana State.
  • The first half was less than ideal, yet in the seond it was full steam ahead with Ryan Browne and Devin Mockobee leading the charge.
  • Not 100% sure how I feel about a defensive minded coach like Ryan Walters calling all the shots on offense. More times than not it will backfire. That said, Ryan Walters deserves props this week for chaning things up and finding a way to light a competitive fire within the hearts of the Purdue offense.
  1. The Defense sadly struggled to feed off the momentum of the fight in the Offense
  • The Defense gave up over 550 yards of total offense. Whenever the offense scored a touchdown, the defense couldn't stop the Illini offense in turn.
  • The defense found most of the problems on the day in stopping Illinois Quaterback Luke Altmyer who rushed all over the Boilermaker defense on many qb runs. Slant routes proved troublesome as well.
  • Granted this games was all about offense, even just one stop by the Boilermaker defense wether it be on the final drive or a previous Fighting Illini drive may have changed the outcome.
  1. Going for the 2-point conversion and the win in OT was the correct call for Coach Walters and Purdue.
  • There's a good chance Illinois would have put more pressure on the Boilermakers in terms pf 2 pt conversions if Walters had opted for the extra point instead. The defense was struggling all game long.
  • The play design was a good one too. Having Ryan Browne throw to Devin Mockobee, who had a great game as well, showed the offenses's focus was in it's strengths. Mockobee had the Illinois defense beat on that 2 point try. Most unfortunate that Ryan Browne wasn't looking Devin's way. That will be a learning experince for Ryan.
  • At this point, Purdue football has nothing to lose. Let's keeping working hard, keep digging, and keep on taking chances at the opportune and right moments to win.
  1. Conclusion
  • While losing the cannon to Illinois feels terrible, this team should be holding their heads up. I this game, The Boilermakers showed there's still fight and no quit in this team.
  • If this team ends up going 1-15, then so be it. However that doesn't mean this team can't show progress and hope for the future. Practice hard, work hard, study hard. If the Boilermakers lose the rest of their remaining gams, let's lose them scoring many many points, playing and fighting hard for the full 60 like they did today, and being a pain in the opposition's ass.
  • Next up, The Black out game vs. the soon to be #2 Oregon Ducks. Let's make some noise on Friday. Boiler Up!

Player of The Game - Ryan Browne.

Proud of our boys today

Nothing else to say. Illinois fans embarrassed themselves and their team did the same. Not saying we are a good team by any means but we at least came to play

Press conference?

I have to think that the Purdue Board of Trustees discussed offline on Friday at their board meeting the dumpster fire that is the football team. Having a President like Mung Chiang who is all about The Purdue brand and how the university is ranked amongst its peers, Purdue’s executive leadership is not going tolerate a piss-poor product that is in the news for being at the bottom. It’s not so much that they have won just one game, but the fact that they have been humiliated in each of their losses. To that end, as soon as Bobinski has $9.6M raised, I expect to see a press conference on one of these next few Sunday afternoons (wish it was today). The season is a lost cause. No need to wait until the end.

5 Quick takeaways from Purdue at Wisconsin

2nd worst game of the season for Purdue. 5 quick takeaways

  1. Another game in which defense couldn't tackle to save their lives. Too many seasons there have been games where performing authentic tackles is easier said than done.
  2. While I respect Jason Simms for trying to do things outside the box in this game on some plays, sadly the same issues such as consistency and flow still linger on offense. Not scoring even one touchdown in this game is unacceptable.
  3. Can't used the word gassed as an excuse for the defense in this game. Defense had no answers for the Badgers offense and in particular Trech Kekahuna. Not going to lie, I'm worried about Dillion Thieneman. He seems to be having a sophmore slump.
  4. I didn't expect this team to win enough games to go bowling this season due to the difficult schedule, but to show tons of regression in one season is embarrasing. Coach Walters is right about this team not being a good football team. And it falls on him. I like Ryan Walters and I really want him to be successful. With that said, I'm at the point where I'm thinking he's not the guy to lead Purdue Football.
  5. The Boilermakers are going to need to find something special they haven't had all season to come out of Champaign Urbana with the cannon. Unto Illinois.
