/r/beta
Hey r/beta community!
For those that aren’t aware, we started using this subreddit back in 2015 to serve as the central hub of communication between beta testers of www.reddit.com and admins. Historically, the community was focused on desktop web features being pushed to the "beta" program, which hasn’t been running for many years. This subreddit existed pre-redesign, where we actually tested things like improvements to post sharing and Q&A sort with users that were opted into the beta.
Over the years, this subreddit has drifted away from its original purpose, and has turned into an unmonitored space where feedback, concerns, and bug reports around our native apps and website are being posted. In order for us to help direct your activity to subreddits that are better suited for handling your feedback, we’ll be doing a little bit of janitorial work today by archiving this community and routing your activity to other, better suited communities.
This doesn’t mean closing off any sort of communication between you all and Reddit. This step is to ensure that bugs and feedback are directed to more targeted locations where we can better communicate with you all in a high-signal, low-noise environment.
Currently, we maintain a growing list of spaces for you all to see official updates from Reddit as well as to receive help for various Reddit issues you may be experiencing. Below is a list of communities we’d suggest routing your activity to moving forward:
r/bugs - the catch all subreddit for submitting bug reports to Reddit
r/redditbugs - for tracking selected known bugs across Reddit
r/help - for general Reddit help and technical support
r/redditmobile - for feedback and bug reports specific to Reddit's native apps
r/modhelp - for general help around moderating on Reddit
r/modsupport - point of contact for moderators to discuss issues with Reddit admins
r/reddit - for product updates and announcements directly from Reddit
r/modnews - for product updates and announcements around moderation directly from Reddit
For anyone that participated in the r/beta community, we sincerely thank you. If you are interested in applying to be part of a closed beta group focused on the official Reddit mobile apps, please fill out this form. Looking ahead, we hope to see you all in our other communities!
Heya,
I'm not sure if this has been reported already or "is by design" but the Google login circumvents the 2FA login on Reddit. This is a pretty big security flaw in my opinion...
Hope this gets fixed soon. Thanks!
The inbox always has the red circle for notification. This is mobile btw.
Hi all, for the last few weeks every time I click on a link or picture I get redirected to:
https://old.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/media/nice_hat/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F039o4umfo8pb1.jpg
Which is a random post I have never once visited. I've cleared my cache and cookies etc and logged in and out multiple times. Does this happen to anyone else?
My other Reddit account was flagged for the new homepage. Every single link opens as a new tab. It’s a horrendous experience.
I had to revert to use this account which does not get the “new” experience.
It’s simply unusable on mobile (or any other device or desktop). How can I get this reverted?
Why is this a thing? I know that because of the API protest q lot of users started flagging their posts NSFW for no reason in protest. But why the hell do you not add a censor in settings so I can blur it. I browse sfw subs like blender which is 3d modeling and sometimes dicks and tits pop up and it can be really annoying trying to read while at a restaurant or a public commute. I use to use Reddit at work on break but I'm too paranoid a penis will pop up on my screen
What the title says. The new design doesn't show my custom feeds/multireddits. I use these all the time because it is much easier to browse certain topics all together than to look at 20 individual subreddits separately. Why hide or get rid of such a useful feature?
What is this new design I got into today even if I never opted in to beta updates.
https://postimg.cc/sQ9gK90w - I looks like this now. it looks so bad, I want the old design Back...
Everything is too big. I want the normal new not mega old layout where posts load as overlays sometimes.
When I open on a new browser, or a private tab, the home layout is a bit different than usual. One post suggests that it is only for users not logged in. But I created a new account on the other browser and it still has it. I am opted into the new design, but it gives me the design that has been around for multiple years or so. The one I'm talking about is in a dark mode by default, but the background is not quite black, is more of a blueish black.
Apparently its called 'rich black': see here
Checked the feed settings, there's no option to remove this annoying pop up that won't go away unless I click the X button.
Are they pulling a tumblr and bombing their website for more ad money?
Is this something new with beta?
I have seen this a few times when I try to post something in various subs. It comes up randomly.
