Looking for recommendations for a lawyer, need to have a spousal agreement made

Split a year ago, need to have a support agreement made and notarized for CRA. Can anyone recommend a decent family lawyer? Was quoted $5k by one, looking for other options. Thanks in advance

So where's everyone getting their Christmas turkeys?

Prices vary so widely across town, wondering where you folks are getting a good deal on a good bird this year!

Found: Bike Helmet

Just plucked off the sidewalk on Fort Street. Looks pretty new and in great condition, so I'm sure someone must have just misplaced it.

Let me know if you think it's yours (obviously I'll want the description/brand for confirmation) and I'll help reunite you!

Heat Pump Maintenance Recommendations

I purchased a house with a heat pump last year. It is my first experience with heat pumps (my previous homes have always had baseboard heating). I understand I should have yearly maintenance on the heat pumps. How much can I expect to pay for heat pump maintenance? Do you have any recommendations for reasonably priced heat pump technicians? Thank you so much!

Where to post casual job for UVic student?

I am trying to set some things up for my senior mom who lives near the university. She is getting out of hospital likely Jan 1-3 and will need help cleaning the cat litter boxes, picking up more cat litter, taking out the garbage, small things like that. I am not sure where to post - any advice? I was thinking it might make sense for a UVic student as they could also park at my mom's if that would be a draw. TIA.

Pre-Made Vegetarian Mains for Holiday Dinner

Tonight I learned that one of my father-in-law, who will be attending the Christmas Eve dinner I’m hosting, no longer eats meat or fish. He said he’ll eat the veg sides, which I always make plenty of, but that doesn’t seem special enough. I thought about making something but I don’t want to risk trying (and failing) with a new recipe.

So - does anyone have recommendations for a fantastic pre-made “Sunday roast” inspired main that I could re-heat and serve? I’m fine paying for convenience (e.g. restaurant takeout) as long as it tastes good.

Ladysmith daycare owner is member of murderous cult

This is a public service message for parents of daycare-age children in the Ladysmith, Vancouver area. The founder of the Kidz R Brite daycare, Cindy Desrochers, is a member of the predatory cult of the fake Qanon "queen of Canada", Romana Didulo. This is a dangerous cult that spews domestic terroristic threats and also grifts "donations" from their mostly low-income elderly followers. The cult exhorts their followers to "shoot two bullets in the head" for any healthcare worker who administers vaccines to children. Many followers have actually lost their homes after believing Didulo's lies that mortgage payments are "unlawful" in her imaginary "Kingdom of Canada". They are coerced to send their money to Didulo instead. Yes, this is real. CTV's W5 did a expose of the cult leader. The death threats are at the 3:00 minute mark of their documentary video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSJs3cPgnxw

Does someone in town make a really good Italian sub?

I've always eaten the Italian sub from subway, but I recently learned that this is a classic sandwich that can be well done by a chef.

I really want to try that.

Do you know where I should go?

Hydro Pricing.

I’m wondering if anyone with an EV has changed to Hydros Time Of Day pricing and If it’s made a positive difference on your bill. Their cost calculator shows we would be paying over $100 more which really dosent sell it for me.

Where to find a real cup of coffee?

Why is all the coffee here acidic light roasts and it is impossible to find a proper dark roast? A manager actually instructed me to make espresso using a light roast, which feels like sacrilege! Coming from Nova Scotia, do we just have more contact with the Old World that there are more people who understand what coffee should taste like? This has basically never happened before, but I have even thrown out coffees here - from known and popular cafes - because they tasted like the swill coal miners drank (and for an idea, those psychos in Sidney Mines leave the bag floating in their tea all day, so you know they're a few shovelfulls short of a load, if you catch my drift). Where might one find a rich Dutch coffee? Or a real espresso? Or a rich, bold, dark, low-acidity cuppa with mellow tones and chocolate notes?

Photos of Bitcoin ATMs?

Bit of a weird request, but I am doing some research on scam prevention, specifically on the warnings that can be found on some bitcoin ATMs. With that in mind, if anybody has photos of local bitcoin ATMs, or is at any of the stores/locations that have them, would you mind sending me the photo and location name?

Thank you!

What species of Oaks are thriving in front of the parliament building? Can anyone confirm with certainty?

Some relatives of ours took some acorns and sprouted them indoors, under lights, in London ON area. Thought it would be cool to have trees that came from the Victoria parliament building. We are all tree-nuts and thought it would be cool. They are in a zone 7a which is in range, barely. Didn't think they'd sprout so easily, but now that they have, they are wondering:

Is this a problem (will they even survive there) and we assume they sprouted Gary Oaks - is that the species in front of the building, directly to the right, as you're looking from Belleville? I know some people have put in Burs and other species as well. I assume these are Garys.

Natural Gas Service vs Hydro

Hello, I'm building a new home in Victoria and was curious if anyone has both natural gas and hydro servicing in their home? Do you notice much savings in your hydro bill? Any other pros or cons of having hydro service only? Thank you!!
