I plan on going to uvic and transferring to cs, but im worried that my gpa isn't high enough i have a 6.33/9.0 gpa rn. Is it over?
I’m currently in grade 12, and a week or two ago i was offered 5k based off my gpa of 98 for my four required gr 12 course (majoring in mathematics), If i accept this, am I still eligible to win more scholarships? And can I withdraw my acceptance as well, as I only plan on going to uvic if i can get myself a full ride offer, which i believe i can win through a scholarship the opens in february?
Hey guys I'm a new international student coming to UVic next term. I was wondering if there are any good resources or services for international students in victoria that I should know about? i heard stuff about the uvss but do they offer anything specifically for international students?
Any pros or cons current international students have to share? nervous about the move, so looking for any advice thanks!
Should I take STAT 255 instead or should I try it again?
This my first time failing a course, what impact does it have on my other computer-science-major 2nd year courses? and on my major?
Hello everyone, I am applying to the Industrial Ecology master course in Fall 2025. I submitted my application in September 2024 but I still haven't heard any news yet. My application status is "Under Review by Department". Can I ask when did you guys receive your offer from Uvic for the Fall Intake please? Thank you SO much and I appreciate any of your advice.🙏
Will the Civil Engineering department people sit down together to go through all applications at the same time when the applications are close on 15th January ?
I'm currently a first-year student doing Bcom. Down the road, I'm hoping to pursue a career in either accounting or banking (not sure yet) I wanted to know if it would be worth transferring to Sauder either for second or third year since I've heard UVic Bcom isn't great for finance or accounting.
Thanks!

Do you love medieval history? Do you love archeology? If so, we have just the course for you. ANTH 361: Archeology in Medieval Europe. This is a course that is not offered every year, so unless you are going to be at UVic forever, like myself, this will probably be the only chance you will have to take this course. And why would you not want to take it? It is about archeology in Medieval Europe, you can't get a course much cooler than that! Oh, and if you are a Medieval Studies major, this course counts as an elective.
ANTH 361 runs on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 2:30-3:20 and is taught by Dr. Erin McGuire (we have it on good authority that Dr. McGuire is an utterly fantastic prof).
Hi everyone!! I am super super excited to announce our latest episode of the Inspire-d Podcast with Dr. Laidlaw! 🥳 Of the amazing guest professors we’ve been able to have on our podcast, this was my personal favourite to record so far :)
As always, if you have a professor you’d like to see let us know!
Anyone hear back?
ATM there's only one, along with the lying down hamstring curl machine which doesn't quite hit the same muscle stretch. I notice that this machine is the #1 most occupied machine at peak hours, so having another one would be really nice.
Not that I think CARSA is going to be buying any new machines anytime soon, with government transfer payments being still unchanged in 2024 - but hey, if they do, this machine should really be first on the list!!!!
Howdy, I'm Joao (18m) 19 in 20 days. and I will be moving out of my parents place in the new year and I have found a place to move into but I would like to get a roommate to help out with the rent. The place is right across the street from Camosun Landsdowne campus and really close to Uvic. I will hopefully be going to Camosun in the new year for carpentry but its not set in stone currently as I am wait listed. I enjoy wood working, carpentry, nature, sports and video games. I'd like to say that I am quiet but I think people that know me would disagree. If you are interested please dm me and I can give more information and maybe set up interviews with ppl. I am looking for someone who is clean and can keep common areas tidy. It would be cool to have someone with common interests as I think that would be fun to share a place with but not necessary.
i'm taking history as an elective and don't want to suffer too much (my peers went feral taking HSTR101 this semester... not too sure why)
what's the difference between the two, and which one would build a better academic foundation with the least suffering ?
thanks!
Who were your favourite profs this semester?
I wanted to give a shout out to Dr. Iosub and Dr. Leitch for organic chemistry. They took a subject that I was terrified of and made it into my favourite class this semester! Dr. Iosub in particular is an absolute gem and deserves an excellence in teaching award.
I'm curious to see who everyone liked and for what courses! :)
Edit:
I wanna go and check out some bars and clubs in Victoria after finals are over because I don't get out nearly enough. Any recommendations? I'm pretty new to Victoria so if you know any cool places to hangout, let me know.
Is there a printer in Cornett? I need to print something off tomorrow morning and I don’t feel like going to the library. If not where’s the closest one
Hiii!
im moving into Sngequ in January for the spring term. I'm coming on exchange. I was wondering how the shared pod kitchen functions and what the vibe is like.
do I need to buy pots and pans/spatulas to cook with or are they provided with the kitchen?
also if anyone has experience being in the pods in Sngequ and would like to share stories or anything i'd love to hear them!
TIA :)
Hey , I would really appreciate if some of you could send me a pdf or a link to a final that was done in previous years. Even a pictrue would do. I was not able to buy a previous final exam from SIGMA because of time conflicts with my classes. Thanks!
Hey yall, I would really appreciate if some of you could send me a pdf or a link to a final that was done in previous years. Even a pictrue would do. I was not able to buy a previous final exam from SIGMA because of time conflicts with my classes. Also could i still buy the exam even after the sale has ended? Thanks!
What is CAL? Is it just for exam accommodations? I’ve heard a lot of students in my classes having “cal accommodations”. Is this something anyone can apply for? I have always thought it was an accommodation for student with disabilities etc…
Hey guys does Stat 252 have required labs? I have fit my schedule perfectly into 2 days but the Stat lab is only offered on Thursday. I know for a couple math classes I had last year, labs were not mandatory. Wondering if someone here knows. Google gave me a class outline from 2012
Hii i am new student starting this winter at uvic as transfere student, received 7.5 units of ephe level credits. I am currently waitlist for all courses standing at 141- 16th, lab - registered 155- 22th 143- 4th

Hey everyone,
I’m a first year engineering student, and with the first term coming to an end, I’ve been reflecting on how things have gone so far. I really want to get into Software Engineering, but I’d also consider Computer Engineering if I have to. That said, I’m feeling pretty nervous about whether I can make it into my desired program or not.
Coming into university from high school, especially in a completely new province, was a much bigger adjustment than I expected. I was very immature with my time management. I assumed what worked for me in high school would work here too, but I learned the hard way that university is a whole different ball game.
I also made the mistake of letting my ego get in the way and not signing up for CAL because I thought I didn’t need it. Looking back, I wish I had, because it could have saved me from some of the struggles I faced this term.
That said, as this term went on, I feel like I started to figure things out. I’ve learned how to study more effectively, stay disciplined with my work, signed up for CAL next term, and take better care of myself while living alone.
But now, with finals just around the corner, I feel like it’s too late to fully make up for my earlier mistakes.
I’ve done okay in my coursework, and I hopefully I’ll pass, but I’m worried about whether my marks will be good enough to get into Software Engineering. I know I have a better understanding of what it takes now, but I’m scared that my late realization might cost me.
For those of you who’ve been through this process, how competitive is it to get into Software or Computer Engineering? And do you have any advice for someone in my position?
Thanks in advance, and good luck to everyone with finals!
Hi, I’m turning 19 in about 2 weeks. I’ll be celebrating with one or two friends, and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for fun clubs/bars? Especially because my birthday is on a Monday and close to Christmas I’m not sure what the best place to go is
What is the maximum number of external courses you can use towards a degree?
Also, how old is too old for courses completed a few years back?
Cheers.
Edit 1: last post mentioning this was from 9 years ago and the max was 30 credits - wondering if this has changed.
I've misplaced my Player's Handbook for Dungeons & Dragons. It looks like the above image.
Really, really hoping I can track it down. My copy has a bunch of wavy pages because it was a shelf display copy that I grabbed and it had been flipped through quite a bit before I purchased it. I also think there are some notes taken in pencil on a few pages in there.
I know the chances aren't great at all, but if anyone sees or has it it, please oh please oh please oh please PM me. It's going to be a while before I can afford to replace it.
