I need a little help, how do I get in there? I'm on level 3 and I can't figure out how to get in that area, in all my 25+ years I've never figured out how to get in there

It’s funny when enemies in Turok Evolution fly when they are blown by explosive arrows or grenades

Enemies being blown by explosive arrows is one of the funniest things in Turok Evolution. I remember the first time I used the explosive arrows I found it really funny the way enemies went flying. The animations are so funny. Does anyone else agree with this?

How I first got into Turok games

Hello, I’m new to this sub. The first Turok game I played was Turok Evolution without realizing that it was the fourth and last game released (without including Turok 2008). I got the Gamecube for Christmas about 20 years ago and this was actually the first game I got for the Gamecube. Since then it has been one of my favorite games. Years later I found out that there were three other games released before and that Turok Evolution is a prequel to Turok Dinosaur Hunter. Since Turok Evolution is a prequel to the first game, I think that it doesn’t really matter that I discovered and played this one first. About 3 years later after realizing that there are 3 other Turok games, I watched Youtube videos about the gameplay for Turok Dinosaur Hunter, Turok 2, and Turok 3 and began to have interest in them. A couple of years ago I finally bought Turok Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2 for the PS4 on the Playstation store and already completed both of them, out of these two games, I liked Turok 2 more.

Turok... The Movie!

This is just fun and imaginative thinking. If Turok were to be made into a movie, what would be your ideal Turok movie? Like what style, actors, scenes, and just anything you can think of would you want in the film? What would it look like to you? Would it be very action packed, story and plot based, suspenseful, rated R, PG13? Lol I don't know, just imagine Turok as a movie, what would it look like to you?

Although all I can think of is how the beginning will be, my ideal Turok film would look something like this:

The beginning publishing credits would start and jungle wildlife sound effects slowly fade in and then a brief written introduction fades in sort of like in Star Wars; "Sometime in a lost land far away." Something like that, or it could be more informative like the beginning of Terminator 1984. Anyways after that, the war drum and wildlife sound effects get louder... Something can be heard lurking in the foliage... A small branch brakes, but it's only an iguana crawling around...

Then the beat drops in the music like in the game where you hear that ancient roaring sound "OUGH!!" Turok instantly jumps into view from a tree sprinting away from a velociraptor! The dinosaur makes a loud roar! He runs making twists and turns into all parts of the thick jungle that he finds himself in. The dinosaur effortlessly clears the pathway with his muzzle. Turok grabs hold of a vine and swings onto a tree limb and then jumps off on the dinosaur attacking it with his signature knife. Turok and the Dinosaur wrestle for a moment when its throat is pierced with the blade. After a few moments of intense gurgling sounds, the dinosaur finally gives way and falls to the bottom of the earth while Turok lands on its abdomen with both feet.

The camera cuts to a shot of his sneakers while slowly panning upwards. He's Native American with feathers in his hair and he's got that Charles Bronson's death stare going on as he looks down at the dinosaur blood slowly dripping down his blade. He's strong. He looks like a lean and mean body builder. "The Rock" could possibly play as him, or someone that has that Turok look.

He's go no shirt on, just a neckless of some spiritual significance. He's got rugged jeans on and of course his pearly white sneakers that looks like he just bought them. But if he did, where? How could he have a pair of brand new sneakers when he was just being chased by an ancient beast? Where was he? How did he end up here? All these thoughts are provoked as Turok is sitting by the fire he made while munching on the flesh of the mighty beast he just killed.

He takes out an old wrinkled photo from his satchel that appears to be him posed with his family. Then, the sound of footsteps and racking guns suddenly startle Turok. Men, heavily armed with M16s and AK47s, slowly appear from the shadows successfully surrounding Turok. Though they are heavily armed, Turok is unphased. They look weak, he can see it in their eyes. Turok too has a firearm, a Beretta M9... Then the title of the movie appears in a black background, "Dinosuar Hunter."

And of course, Turok's bow will appear somewhere in the movie lol. Well, this is what my imaginative mind is thinking of. Listen to the "Turok N64 Composer's Collection" on YouTube and the beginning track will kind of give the vibe I'm thinking of.

Is there a secret area counter in Turok 1 (PS4)

Tried looking in the menu but could find anything, if not no worries, just realized I missed a lot more initially during my playthrough and want to go back to the levels to see if I can figure it out on my own before using guide.

Turok holds up really well

Am playing it again after like 20 years+ of having not touched it (have some fond memories of playing it on the N64 and reading the review in a game magazine a ton since it looked so awesome).

Visually it's a bit dated but otherwise I'm really surprised how cool this is. I kind of stumbled on it in the steam store (remaster), it doesn't have the legacy of other big fps (even on the N64) like Goldeneye or Quake/Doom but damn if it doesn't pack a whole lot of atmosphere.

Even just jumping back in I absolutely LOVE the feel of this game. The fog has always been mentioned as a detractor but to be honest there's nothing like those first few moments of venturing in the jungle, hearing those ominous thuds of something approaching and freaking dino's leaping out the white mist towards you. Am sure the fog was not intended beyond optimizing performance but I love it all the same (but quickly toggled the option for more distant rendering afterwards lolol).

The music is also so good. I don't remember this part much from what I was young but I love what they did with it. The different rhythms and tribal drums really do a lot for the pacing and whenever the tempo kicks up as you enter a new area that alone is like a shot of adrenaline pushed straight into your veins. The Catacombs theme also pretty much compliments the level perfectly, it just feels so dark and desolate.

I was also surprised that the level design is actually quite clever and interesting. I don't think I ever got past the 1st level as a kid, and even replaying now the keys system is quite confusing, but once you get into it it makes sense. It's less pure FPS and more like adventure-type, roaming the jungle and discovering weird places. Catacombs on itself is just so cool, yes you don't know where you're going but isn't that the point of an underground catacomb? You go into all these weird nooks and crannies and end up in unexpected places and it feels like skewering an ancient place. Also the game has a really neat trick that it plays repeatedly where you go off a side path and somehow end up in the original area from a different perspective. I've already seen it a few times but it's so gratifying to stand somewhere and go like "oh wait this is where I started from an hour ago but somehow I ended up here again" and it really feels like you come full circle in those moments.

All in all I'm really pleasantly surprised since I wasn't sure if it'd hold up. I feel a bit addicted to it lol, just want to go into the jungle and shoot mad dino's and explore. Am rather surprised it's so niche since I feel it really carves a space for itself with the game design. Oh well, I never played the 2nd part but heard it's good too, will probably pick it up on steam since I probably won't be disappointed if it's in the ballpark of the first game.

Best way to play Evolution on PC?

I loved playing Turok Evolution as a kid, and I want to go back and revisit it on my new setup. I've heard there are emulators and also a European pc port, but what way would be the best way to play if I wanted to use controller on PC? Thanks all

Movies that are like Turok?

Does anyone know what movies are kind of like Turok? Besides the Turok cartoon, what are some good movies to watch that kind of have a Turok vibe to it? One movie that reminds me of Turok for some reason is The Terminator 1984. It reminds me a lot of the first Turok game. The sound track is kind of similar with that retro synth kind of thing. It especially reminds me of The Terminator when all the robots start coming towards the end of Turok. The Scorpion King is another that kind of reminds me of Turok, simply because of the main character. I feel like watching a good movie that has some Turok vibes, but not something like Jurassic Park. What do you think?

Can someone help me with Lair of the Blind Ones?

I completed it, but I guess I never found the portal to cash in the feather. (I do have the feather, but not the emblem.) Does anyone know the closest warp point so I can go back and grab this thing? There are some maps online but they're so low res it's hard to use them.

P.S. This is also where I got stuck when I first played this for the N64 lol

Series newcomer (Video Games) Questions about Strategy

Recently bought the Turok Remastered Trilogy from Nightdive Studios for the Series X. I grew up on the tail end of the N64’s lifespan and never got to experience these games.

I started the first game on Hardcore - soon switching that to hard. I found ammo was scarce when I tried to kill everything (especially given the respawning enemies) so I began avoiding dinosaurs and prioritized ammo for projectile/hit-scanning enemies, and began circling raptors with the knife and killing them that way.

I’m only on The Ancient City and am still getting decimated by poachers’ rifles and the ancient warriors with blow darts.

I’m searching the areas for all resource pickups but still feel under equipped.

My main questions from seasons players:

Do ammo pickups increase late game?

Best way of dealing with hit scanning enemies?

General strategy. (Which enemies to avoid wasting ammo on, combat strategies, traversal strategies, etc.)

How to get good.

Thanks lads! :)

Odds we get Rage Wars?

As a kid, I absolutely loved Turok Rage Wars. Even just playing the campaign and bot matches were a good time. I’m not sure if the gameplay is up to modern standards, but I would love to see it, especially with online play. Anyone think Night Divr will attempt a remaster? Or do you think they’ve moved on. I do recall a statement saying they have concluded the trilogy.

What is wrong with Turok 3

I’m nearly at Oblivion and this game just feels so different… to put it nicely. Turok 1 and 2 were absolutely amazing. But this… feels lazy and unhinged. Atmosphere, guns, creativity, levels, enemies feel half assed. Was this made by a different development team?

Pope John Grimes. He would have been a really interesting villain in Turok 2.

It would have been interesting if John Grimes had lived to become the main villain in Turok 2. I had an idea about him escaping back to earth before Turok and the others, and he becomes pope.
