What's The Name Of The Outsiders Castle?

I know that the outsider's castle's name is provided the episode "Handful Of Dust", but I'm not sure that I heard it right. It sounded like the name is Old Do's Castle.

T. Rex Herd In The TV Series?

Saw the miniseries and noticed that the group of T. rexsis incorrectly referred to as a herd. Is it still referred to as such in the TV series?

Where has this franchise been all of my life?

I was at a Goodwill and found a DVD for the miniseries done by Artisan Entertainment, I bought it expecting a classic shitty movie night with the fellas. I saw the cover art and had zero positive expectations. I saw CG dinosaurs and what looked like a Mayan city and assumed it was a wrap from there. I could not have been further off of the mark. Frankly, I was stunned at the sheer level of quality on display. The sets were nice, the story was simple but had a lot of talking points, the characters felt pretty reasonable, both the practical effects and CG were pretty damn good. The hats? There were so many cool hats in the background, I couldn't believe how many times we paused and just looked at hats or other background elements. The special features were really cool too. A trailer and tips for the GBA game, a 3D photo gallery, trivia, Skybax flying game, a maze, a full encyclopedia of the dinosaurs in the movie. I went in expecting an ironic 8/10, but I stepped out with a sincere 8/10 with interest to read the books.

Shout Out to James Gurney

Besides the obvious shout out he deserves for creating the series, I'm not sure how many of you have ordered stuff from his online store; but it is pretty great.

I pre-ordered the "Life Lessons from Dinosaurs" book and it arrived early and autographed with a dinosaur he drew. I then ordered two Dinotopia: Timestone Pirate posters, which after a snafu during shipping (James himself responded to the support email), arrived in great condition and again, autographed!

Just major kudos to him!

Dinotopia Amazon Streaming!

So I found that Amazon (with freevee I believe) dinotopia is available for streaming! But not just the orginal mini series - but with the Hall mark TV series that came out with 6 episodes. My only question is how do I watch the other 7 episodes that came out in other regions? VPN didn’t seem to work but would just like to be able to watch with a heavy dos of nostalgia lol

Did I imagine this?

Okay, I feel like I’m going insane because I remember there being a sketch in the original Dinotopia book of a person riding on a Triceratops’s head with a caption saying, “Triceratops enjoys wearing people as hats” or something to that affect but I’ve flipped through this thing 5-6 times and I can’t find it anywhere. Am I misremembering some other media or did I make it up in my head completely?

Video Game Ideas & Discussion

I love this book series since I was a kid who couldn't read at the time, but I'm disappointed that it didn't get a resurgence when Jurassic Park/World and Apple's dinosaur documentary came around. You would think Hallmark would take advantage of this, but yet again it is Hallmark.

I am also disappointed that there's only been four games. 2003 Dinotopia: The Sunstone Odyssey, 1995 Dinotopia on DOS, 2002 Dinotopia: Game Land Activity Center, and 2002 Dinotopia: The Timestone Pirates. But I'm not surprised as the world of the series is complex, detailed, diverse, and historied, but also pacifistic. And think that what makes it so difficult to make a Dinotopia game. There's little action in the four main books and what action there is consists of chase scenes (I'm not counting the Skybaxs scenes), so trying to faithfully adapt Dinotopia into a videogame does present a challenge.

So if you were in charge of making a game set in Dinotopia, how would you tackle it?

Treehouse miniature by Bill Langford, Miniature Museum of Taiwan

Figure I’d share this too, even though I didn’t capture much of it. Trust me it’s very, very well made.

The Giant Fish

Does anyone know what the giant fish's species is in the miniseries? Numerous websites say it's a Dunkleosteous, but I don't rememberit ever being mentioned in the series proper.

I’m working on a video essay about the mini series and the 13 episode series that aired from 2002-2003. Is there any interesting fun facts you guys can tell me either about the series or books? Thanks! :)

First Flight Had Cards?

Breath Deep, Seek Peace.

Not long agon I bought a used copy of First Flight. Sadly, because it was used, it was missing a portion of cards needed to play that included card game. Does anyone here have scans of all the cards from the game?

Thanks!

Are there domestic pets in Dinotopia?

Anything at all such as cats, dogs, birds, rodents, reptiles?

I'm only asking because I haven't read Dinotopia since it was first released, and now I see there's so many new books, I was just wondering if the issue of "pets" was discussed in any of them?
