Anybody relate?

Growing up and entering puberty going from 5'9 to 6'3 in a span of a few years and just being completely uncoordinated with your body movements until you finally stop growing one day you adjust to your final form. I swear during this time I was just wishing Jesus would take the wheel I couldn't walk with these elongated legs for the life of me😂😂

What you do when you found someone tall?

When I find someone as tall I usually just do nothing. I’m really social so what could I say or do

“ I like to climb trees/ were the same height laying down”

I’m sure that most of the ppl who say these phrases to girls usually mean it in a lighthearted joking manner, but for whatever reason, anytime I hear someone say either one of those phrases (whether it be on social media or irl), I cringe internally.😭😭 I can’t pinpoint my exact feelings behind said cringe, all I know is that those phrases tend to make me feel somewhat uncomfortable for whatever reason

Idk if these feelings are unique to me or not, so can other girls relate to my feelings around these phrases?

People always wait for me to exit the subway first?

A weirdly specific thing I’ve noticed about being a tall man is people always tend to wait for me to exit the subway door first when arriving at a station. Idk why this is but every time I happen to be around the front of, not even the most front either people typically wait for me to go first

Why could this be? Does anyone else share this experience?

I tend to stand a lot when I’m riding the metro so that’s why I notice this so often, it’s just strange.

Irritating part of being a big guy is people threaten you with weapons.

I am about 6’4 and around 230-235lbs. I’ve worked out and played sports most of my life so I am fairly lean and muscular and just overall much larger than most men I come across. When people see me they always talk about how big or intimidating I look.

Long story short I was out with my gf drinking and the second I walked away some shorter dude(maybe 5’9) comes up and tried hitting on her/harassing her. He was pretty drunk and sloppy so I just came from behind him and put my hand on his shoulder and told him to relax and leave. He then proceeded to look at me up and down and mumbled something along the lines of “you’re too big, I wouldn’t fight, I would just pull out my gun.”

It ended up not escalating to anything crazy but it’s just so fucking irritating. This isn’t the first time people have made comments like that either. Just because I’m huge doesn’t make me immune or scared of bullets. I’ve also had people talk about knives or jumping people who are big. I understand the advantage I have over people in physical fights but talking about shooting someone ?? I don’t really know how to deal with this type of thing. I’m not the type to have an ego, so if someone says they’ll shoot me I’ll for sure just drop it avoid anything crazy happening.

Has anyone else had this experience ?

Guy said he was 6’2 and was the same height as me… I’m 6’0

And people shorter than me always claim 6’0. YALL GOTTA STOP LYING, but it makes me seem taller so I guess it’s a win win

US Size 15.5 4E shoes/short work boots?

I have been wearing 16's 4E for years only to have a specialist looking at my feet and shoes tell me I should be wearing 15.5. But he also knows these can be tough to find. I can find 15 and some 16's with no issues but 15's do not work. Anyone on the 15.5 side?

Making my workstation ergonomic after getting diagnosed with cervical arthritis

Hey all-

I'm 6'5" from Toronto. Been lurking on reddit for 15 years and posting here for the 2nd time.... only because the pain of getting into a good posture and working is just getting too much.

My doctor just told me yesterday that my MRI results came back, after 15 years of neck and back pain, showing that i have severe foraminal stenosis between my c3-c4-c5 vertebrae, due to arthritis. \

I was devastated. My neck and upper back have always been stiff, but never in a million years I would've thought that I would have spinal problems at age 35.

After enduring back pain for so many years and buying all sorts of contraptions for posture correction, cervical traction, going to the gym, etc etc I decided I needed to revamp my ergo set up while working at a laptop which I do about 10+ hours a day.

Here it is: https://youtube.com/shorts/4plAJaH48IA?feature=share

The mirror is helping me with increased awareness of my posture... simpler solution than the digital posture reminders... and the massager tied to the back is good for massaging and even when it's off, it reminds me to push against it with the upper part of my back, which gets me to sit up straight...

I'm wondering how many of you have the same problem of back pain from workspaces just not being designed for tall people? If my set up inspires anyone, I'd be really glad.

I have a really wide back (from doing dragonboat racing for about a decade) so the tiny keyboard isn't exactly good for getting me out of my rounded shoulder posture. I've been looking at split keyboards but haven't encountered anything that's good and relatively cheap. So I decided to build my own. I'll post it when it's done, but I was also wondering if anyone had found good split keyboards I could use in the meantime?

Passing on a few pants for anyone who may want them

Update: claimed!

Hey there! I was going to take a few of my 34x36 slim fit pants and jeans from American Tall to goodwill this week, but figured I would check here to see if anyone may want me to ship them to them instead.

Happy to pay shipping costs as well. There are 3 pairs, one blue denim slim fit, one olive green denim slim fit, and one gray slim fit chino. All 34x36. All very mildly worn - as I soon realized the slim fit cut was working for me.

If you are someone or know someone that could use some new, skinny tall person pants DM me! Happy to send them to you :)

Happy holidays y’all!

Being tall black and expected to play basketball

I'm 6'5 and a black African I was born and raised in African and didn't play any type of sports growing up, I came to American quite a while ago and as I grew up I noticed that I got significant taller, by the time I reached my freshman year of high school I think I was around 6'0, during my freshman year I had some many instances of people coming up to me and saying I was really tall and if I played basketball and whenever i said no they would always have a disappointed look in their face and it always made me sad, i felt like I was supposed to be good at basketball and be on the team this kept happening throughout my high school years and fast forward to my senior year where I'm 6'5 and it's happening so frequently to the point where It's completely fucked over my self esteem, what do I do? I'm not interested in basketball and never have been but yet i keep hearing from strangers and my parents that "you would've made it up you played basketball" it's so demoralizing I feel like shit constantly, I feel like I fucked up my life by not playing basketball how do I shake this feeling?

I've expressed to my parents and people that u just don't like it nor do I want to play it but every single time it's just that frown expression, then they follow up with "so you're tall for no reason?" Or "so you're tall and useless?", my mental is fucked up and I don't know how to deal with it.

Sorry if this is formatted badly or if I sound like I'm ranting, I really want to know what I should do or say to those poeple.

You have to be atleast 5'9 to be a model

Tall girl insecure posts are really making me sad.

You have to be tall to be a model for loads of aesthetic reasons.

If a guy prefers a woman who's physically much shorter thats his choice. The majorty of the world concur tall women are more attractive (no shade to shorter queens who rock their own vibe and the guys who love it). It's just a fact. All this insecurity over hieght here has started to make me really concerned.

Enjoy the epic win you've got. At 5'9 I feel a little shorter than I'd like, but I'm happy and Hopefully when I meet the right guy for me, he'll be tall enough to help me make sure my daughter is even taller!!

Car choice

For anyone over 6’5 the dodge charger/ challenger is a great pick! Plenty of head/leg room. As a man who’s 6’9 and as an American muscle car enthusiast I can say that you’ll feel comfortable in this car at almost any height.

waterproof workwear for tall women

I am looking for a set of heavy-duty winter waterproof/breathable work jacket & pants(bibs preferred) for my partner, who is a little under 6' (~181cm) woman, slender to medium/athletic build, legs on the long side. And cold a lot :)

She has ski gear and all that - but we spend a lot of time at our cabin & doing outdoor projects, and she doesn't have anything durable enough for "work" that's also waterproof. Ski gear is way flimsier than eg. my carhartts - we're hoping to find her something equally durable.

An example of what I'm looking for: I (6'4 man) had a reasonably OK process finding something like this for myself, a set of carhartt waterproof bibs, waterproof shell jacket, and a water resistant insanely worm insulated jacket. But Carhartt co. doesn't make _anything_ like this for women; we'd do a small or medium mens IFF it came tall enough - but tall sizes are only in >= large :( which would be just ginormous on her :(

Thanks!!

Cremieux Jeans @ Dillards

My luggage was lost on a business trip and I needed business casual jeans same-day which are nearly impossible to find in person these days (34x36)

I hadn't ever heard of Dillard's store brand pants, and we'll see how well they hold up, but at first glance I'm pretty happy with them. 36 inseam and reasonable at $69.
