i just bought a 2018 passat se yesterday, and when i turn off the car and open the driver door, an orange light with a steering wheel and exclamation point comes on (what i assume is the power steering light) and it makes a sound that sounds similar to the doors locking/unlocking. it only comes on for not even a minute and goes away as soon as i start the car or close the door, what does this mean?
(help i'm a girl and know literally nothing about cars)
Touareg CR V6 TDI here.
Been hearing this "steam locomotive" kind of sound as of late. Seems to be most obvious when standing still/leaving the engine running or driving at low speeds. Seems to disappear after a while though.
Something I should worry about and get checked?
PS: not my video but identical sound.
I purchased a 2 year old Tiguan from the VW dealer (UK) and I have been told they don't come with locking wheel nuts. I removed the covers to double check and they all look the standard fitting to me, but each tyre has one that is in black in colour, any idea why that might be? Has anyone experienced similar?
This is the back of the control panel from my passat b8 from 2015. My main problem is, that my GPS is not working properly - > my street sign recognition isn't working neither. I wanted to change the original GPS antenna with a different one. But I got the feeling that this connector isn't just for the GPS antenna. It's no fakra connector. Can anybody help me?
Thank you
On my way home yesterday I was driving and when i hit a stop sign my car turned off, when trying to accelerate i received a "Error, please start car manually" so i threw the car into park from drive and started just fine, it was after this first start up that a check engine light went on, at another stop it did the same thing.
Today i went to autozone to get my battery tested and sure enough the battery was low at 39%, also had them check the check engine light as well. Threw up the code:
P0341 CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR 'A' CIRCUIT- RANG/PERFORMANCE BANK 1 OR SINGLE SENSOR.
Are the two related by chance? Anyone have a similar situtation? Im going to have my battery charged and monitor for the same behavior but i am not too sure how impotant that sensor is, if the battery is low is it safe to assume it may have triggered that sensor as a by product or vice versa.
So I bought a brand new '24 Jetta SE. At roughly 300 miles a warning light came on (Sunday night) for emission issue. The next morning (Monday) I took it in and the dealership explained that they needed to replace a fuel injector. It took them the rest of the day to replace it and it was picked up that night. The following night (Tuesday), about 30 miles added on from when it was picked up the night before, the light came on again. The following morning (Wednesday) I brought it back to the dealership. At this point they kept the car overnight, waiting for VTA to tell them what to do, since it was giving the same code again. On Thursday the service department was told by VTA that they would need to tear it down to see if there was something else causing the issue. They could not get it all the way done during that week, so it bled into the following week. Finally on Tuesday of the following week I was told that VTA informed them that my engine needed to be replaced. At this point the car only has about 425 miles total on it and it's been in the shop for roughly 2 out of the 3 weeks I've owned it. Is this a common thing with VW? Where do I go from here? The dealership wants me to call the VW customer care line to start with their buy back program. Is that the way to go, or just get my money back and go somewhere else?
Hi! I’ve had my 2019 Tiguan for about 5 years, and my break pad and rotors need to be replaced very soon. Curious if anyone has attempted to replace them yourself, and if it’s worth it? The dealership is wanting to charge $750-800 for it. Thanks!
Só a family member just bought a used VW golf 7 with “Composition Colour GP (MQB)” radio.
We were wondering if/when the car battery dies and needs replacement if the radio will need to be activated somehow with a safety code or something. And I’m asking this because the car did not bring any paper with said code, just the regular manuals (car and radio manuals).
Sorry if this is a stupid question. Thanks.
Hi guys, does the picture mean my airbags are off for the passenger seat?
Is this a system issue?
Thanks for the help!
Have had this error message come up after I put on my turn signal. Everything seems to work fine still but not sure what’s going on. Any ideas what the damage to fix is. In Canada if that matters.
The front suspension in my 2014 beetle sounds creaky. Is there a way to fix it myself? What should I do?
I just had my 150k maintenance done at a dealership and they said that, mechanically, she looks great! Engine sounds good and she handles appropriately, it’s just the dang noise. It drives me nuts.
So I have a 2015 golf that has lately been having problems. I have taken it to the mechanic several times and it still shows the EPC,ENGINE and the sliding car light. I don’t know what to do now. I have changed all the plugs and it’s so embarrassing when it can’t pick up speed on a highway and I have to restart it after every bump because it’ll stop and reduce its speed back to zero. Can anyone help?
Hi guys,
I’m asking for a friend who has 2012 VW Golf Plus. He wanted to change his headlights from halogen one to Xenon one but doesn’t want to pay full price for a new one from dealership and some other things to fix his car.
We are from Finland where finding spare parts from breaker yard is quite difficult.
I know that Mercedes has their own second hand spare part center in Germany from this website https://www.mbgtc.de/en/
Is there the same website for Volkswagen car ?
Thanks

Hi,
I've a 2017 multivan motion . Whilst I love it and it ticks all the boxes, the tyers I have are not working out.
I have a drive I do 4 times a week. It's 160 km round trip. Half motorway the other half a very windy mountain road.
I'm on my 3rd set of all season tyres in 18 months. The area on the outside wears down very quickly.
I've had the tracking checked and keep the tyre pressure in check.
Any tyres recommendations that would help.
Our place is in the forest so some off roading is required from tome to time.
Thanks in advance,
Currently half way through my OH to WA journey with my ‘17 Touareg towing a 7x14 enclosed trailer (tall, guessing 10ft never actually measured) double axle (both axles with electric brakes, yes I have a controller, yes I found the plug) trailer at a current loaded weight of 4020lbs. Trailer tires are at 80psi, my question is where should I have the tires at on the tow vehicle? Started at 45psi and currently 41-42 as I just parked for the night. I’m airing up in the morning.
Thanks!
Was looking at fastback versions, potentially an Arteon vs Audi A5 Sportback, BMW 3 series Gran Turismo, or SUVs like an, mini countryman JCW, Acur RDX or Geneis GV70
As the title says, what should I expect to pay for the replacement of timing chains / guides and the clutch and valve cover gasket for a 2003 GTI VR6 (24v)? Got a quote from the dealer today at 13k, which is absolutely absurd. They are trying to replace the camshafts too, something that doesn't even need done with the chains. Currently they are 86k overdue and have very very slight noise, granted it might just be normal noise to be honest. Don't really know, i'm not super experienced with these wonders that are vr6's. TIA!
Hi everybody, My 2018 VW Tiguan 2.0 Tsi 4 motion is reaching 200k km. Can anybody inform me if there is any big maintenance that i should perform on my car since is reaching 200k km?
