My family and I planned to take some pictures around Sunnyside this Friday 2-4pm for holiday card pictures, but it’s going to be incredibly cold. Does anyone have any ideas for indoor places (restaurants, businesses) that are decorated for Christmas where we could snap a couple photos while warming up? Any help would be much appreciated!

My bedroom radiator is on and warm, but not my living room one. The open/close valve is fully open. Any ideas why that might be/what I should do?

Anyone know where the Christmas tree sellers set up in the neighborhood?

So I am aware there's a synagogue not far from me. Any other Jews here? I am well aware there used to be a bigger community back in the day. I have had some thoughts, especially as we approach Christmas, of getting back to my roots a bit.

This upcoming Saturday Dec 7th is the Sunnyside artist’s annual arts and crafts fair at Queen of angels on 44th street. They are also celebrating 100 years of Sunnyside gardens. I will have a table set up where I sell my woodworking but there will be many other talented artists and crafters. Stop by and say hi, show some love and support to the local artists of our community.

Hi Sunnysiders-I just had a homophobic incident. About 5pm. Walking back from the 40th St stop-south side. On the left side of the street (Chip City side) a stocky South Asian man, under 30, about 5’11”. He came out of an apt building on 40th Street. I was walking on the far right of the sidewalk but he shifted and came towards me and said I should have gone around him. He then hurled homophobic insults at me and then threatened to harm me physically. He’s totally high on something. Strung out, maybe heroin. My partner said he’s seen him on 40th and nearby harassing others. So please be vigilant and avoid him or report him if you see him acting out.

If not, would a group of people want to come together to create one? It would be cool if we could find a way to commission and put on local works. I was raised in Sunnyside so I would love to see this.

The old theater Center Cinemas at 42-17 Queens Boulevard has been clearing out all the stuff inside and appears to be preparing for some kind of construction anyone have any clue what’s going in there? And please dont tell me a Jehovah’s Witness church.

Hello! I have volunteered to foster a cat that was posted in a Sunnyside Facebook page. The lady that posted it is trapping it and then I’m taking it to the vet to see if it’s microchipped. I do already have a cat, and although shes really sweet and friendly, I obviously don’t want her to contract anything. I’ll have them both separated, but if it takes a while to find the owner or someone to adopt it I’d rather have it socialize with my cat. Is there a local vet that can examine the cat and run blood tests for cheap? I just want to make sure the cat is healthy and won’t pose a risk to my other cat. Are there any orgs that could help cover the costs of vaccinations and/or exams? Any help or pointers would be appreciated!

Hi there! I recently found this paper that showed a correlation between Big 5 personality traits and neighborhood choice in the Greater London Area. I wanted to see if these results could be replicated in NYC.
Calling all NYC residents (spread the word to your partners and friends too) I'm looking for more responses to this survey :) I will share results promptly so long as I can get a sufficient sample size quickly, I'm looking for 8k-18k responses to ensure statistical validity.
The survey will also give you your Big 5 Personality scores as an incentive. Open to suggestions. I really appreciate this community for it's support.
