I got this as a housewarming gift but I don’t know what it is.
It was from my first houseplant, a jade. I asked someone to look after it while I went to college. It got root rot and this was the only salvageable cutting when I got back. It’s been about a year and no root system, no growth, and she’s pretty shriveled. About time I call it quits or is there anything I can do?
There’s a layer of rock, succulent soil, then a thin layer of rocks on top. It’s how most of my succulents like it for some reason.
A recent wind storm really messed them up. I forgot to put them away inside before it started and the little one was lost to the neighborhood for a few days before I found it again! The little one is in pretty bad shape but maybe I can save the big one? :(
Brought home a new friend yesterday, and something is eating all the leaves! I don't see bugs when I investigate, and whatever it is, is leaving my succulents alone. I do have cats but have been keeping the plants out of their reach. Somebody suggested cinnamon, so I did that. Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated! I don't want this plant to die
Hello!! I do NOT have a green thumb at all but these happen to sprout on my counter and was looking for advice on what to do from here to keep them going??
Do I need to let the babies grow more? I can’t find any good tutorials online and not sure how to go about this! I propagate my other plants regularly but this is feeling daunting!
New monstera leaf coming in! I’ll be filing for PFMLA
I've been at war with aphids for going on 6 months and nothing I try works. My current plan is to put the three plants they favor (cayenne pepper, jalapeno pepper, and orange hibiscus) in a netted enclosure with some ladybugs, but before I can get around to building that I'm desperate for advice.
I've already tried varying solutions of neem and soap and vinegar but even applying at night or sparingly absolutely burns the heck out of my poor plants and the aphids are completely killing them. The hibiscus I could let go of bc it's almost dead already between aphids and treatment, but if I lose the peppers I'll be so very very sad!
I've put ladybugs there before but ofc they don't stay.
Right now I've resorted to dusting with diatomaceous earth and clearing them with my fingers but this only lessons the onslaught to a small degree bc I can't do it all hours, and the DE isn't safe for the other critters!
HELP!
I am not a plant mom, but I’m trying to be! How can I bring this one back to life?
Hello everyone, amateur here! I have a history in overwatering (and killing 🫣) my succulents (outdoors, indirect sunlight). I've noticed the least attention I pay to them, the more they thrive. Then, I started taking care of orchids (indoors next to a sunny window, sip of water in their transparent pot until it fades, spray water on it every week approx.) I've heard they do not need much watering either, but two of my orchids are already dead. If you had to say a percentage of water for each type of plant, what would it be?
Considering putting some plants in the bathroom. Good or bad idea?
Thought with the moisture/shower steam they might do well?
My bamboo is turning yellow. I use distilled water, all day window is shut I open it around 4pm is not on direct sunlight. Just recently I cut some leaves bc it was turning yellow but then it started in the rest. What do I do or is it normal ??
Inherited this plant from someone who received it as a gift. Unsure of what it is and how to best care for it!
We have this plant at work. Any advice please on how to bring it back to life would be appreciated. Also can you tell me what the plant is called please.
I found them today at Walmart and repotted them, also ignore the dishes
So I know sunlight is plant food but what about the regular light from my light bulbs? I know about grow lights but I want to know if the light from my regular lightbulbs is helpful for my plants at all? Cuz it’s winter and if this one plant is struggling just cuz I don’t have a grow light I could at least leave the regular lights on for the poor thing. I’m going to get some grow bulbs but in the meantime I’m trying to just keep this thing from dying. Once I can figure out how to put the multiple pictures up on here I’m going to post it but in the meantime…. Can I just leave the lights on in that room? Will that help at all?
This is my first time being able to keep much of any plants alive so forgive me if this is a less than intelligent question. It was a pretty plant and I bought it impulsively and now that I’ve had it alive this long I’m feeling some kinda way that it’s starting to look unhappy and I’m irritated the lady I bought it from had it in a pot with no drainage holes in orchid mix (which says to me it likes to be drained good and kept kinda dry right?) and sold it that way now that I know more about taking care of these plants. For all I know she threw it in that pot so she could sell it for more since it was sold in its pot of course but that’s not the best home for it. You know what I mean? Anyway, I have a pot with drainage holes now but I don’t have orchid mix to help with the repot and I don’t know what this other stuff is in here but again when I’m able to add pics…… or I may be able to add the pics in the comments below??? 🤔
