Ocean - a body of saline water that composes much of a planet's hydrosphere. On Earth, an ocean is one of the major conventional divisions of the World Ocean, which covers almost 71% of its surface. These are, in descending order by area, the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern, and Arctic Oceans. The word sea is often used interchangeably with "ocean" in American English but, strictly speaking, a sea is a body of saline water (generally a division of the world ocean) partly or fully enclosed by land. Heron Island on the Southern Great Barrier Reef is a hub for Sea Turtle mating and nesting in the warmer months, and Manta Rays over Winter. It's an ocean wildlife haven. Our team had the opportunity to get out there for a week for a film project earlier this year. Hope you enjoy the short 1min film

Sharks have a 'tongue' called a basihyal, a small chunk of cartilage on the mouth floor. It's mostly useless except for cookiecutter sharks, who use it to tear into their prey. Their taste buds located on the papillae help them decide if the meal is worth ingesting!

Oceans are the lifeblood of our planet. They provide most of the oxygen we breathe and some of the food we eat, and they help control the climate.

What is this?

My kids found this at the beach and insisted we take this home even though it smelled horrendous. It’s a bone of some sort but we have no idea what type of sea creature it belonged to.
