Hi guys. Was wondering if there are any websites/sources that mention where to find specific species if nudibranch. For example, leaf slug are normally found on seaweed Avrainvillea. This will help divers know where to look when searching for nudis.
Was able to walk right offshore and swim around with these guys.
It seems like every other post on this subreddit is the same thing - someone looking for a camera recommendation. The recommendations are generally the same as well: GoPro, Olympus TG-6, or full blown expensive setup. Can we create a sticky posts that can be referred to?
what will have good resolution where i could print out like a 3x5' large scene photos or 1'x1' single fish type photos?

Hey guys! I’ve been using the GoPro so far for videos but I am not impressed with the quality of images and in the Arctic waters it’s difficult to change from video to photo with gloves on. Can anybody suggest a good underwater camera that’s easy to carry and not too bulky for long term travel? And that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg? Thanks :)
Heya all, follow up on my last question seeing as I got a sweet and sour set of answers. For my TG6 should I go ikelite, seafrogs or Olympus or something else?
Okay so I have a nauticam housing for my A7riii. Possibly considering upgrading to a A7rV possibly even a A7CII or CR housing. So I have to 28 mm lens and port and the 90mm port. Would like to get something with a little zoom to it, heard that the 28-60 is pretty meh on land but underwater preforms fairly well. My goal is to keep it as minimal as possible. I know fat chance. I can’t really make out the port compatibility chart on their site. Ports, adapters, zoom rings, domes and partridge in a pair tree. Does anyone have one of these cameras and nauticam housings with a zoom type lens? While it’s never “easy” traveling with this the less pieces the better.
Bonus points for pictures of your setup!!
Smallest little frogfish blending in quite impressively in North Bali. This little one was about the size of my little toe 😂
Heya all getting a seafrogs housing for my Olympus tg6, anyone have this and have feedback?
Hi, I am a teacher and robotics coach for middle school. My students are preparing for a competition and to have student engaged in learning about the engineering design process, teams were asked to identify a problem with ocean exploration and my team chose underwater photography. The kids created a survey to obtain information to help them discover problems faced by underwater photographers. If you have a couple of minutes, please complete this survey to help my students. The survey does not collect any identifiable information or your email. https://forms.gle/nGobdMj4NqjJzNiX9 Thank you!
EoM we will visit the maldives and I've been looking to find a good underwater camera. As it will be 1 week use only I am not planning on buying something too expensive so Im ranging at 50-80€. Anyone has some good recommendations?
Hi all, first post to this sub. I'm wanting to do some video recording in murky water. I have used infrared (IR) light in shallow clear water from overhead using IR as a light source at night, and it worked very well. But now, I want to record in much much more murky water, and will need a light source. If I blast IR from above, below, and from the side, will it possibly work, or will it just create a constant blizzard as the light bounces off all the little algae cells drifting around? White light is a possibility in the daytime, but not at night. Thanks in advance for any insight.
Im about to buy underwater housing for my Sony and need some help because im a photography noob. Im only wanting to use it for personal instagram stuff and memories - deff not a professional haha.
That said what lens should I use? Mainly wanna take pictures of fish and larger marine life and videos of me and my friends diving through caves and stuff. I’m about to do the hammerhead dive in yonguna too that I want to use it for!!! Not really macro stuff.
I saw a website recommend the Sony FE 16-35mm f/5 ZA OSS lens working but what about the one it came with…would 16-50mm be sufficient? (I have no idea what this stuff means)
Also what settings? Like just general ones that I don’t have to adjust.
Any recommendations? Literally any advice is great haha
Also should I get a light?
I have the AOI Q1 RC strobe and the battery contacts at the bottom of the strobe have become a little rusty. Does anyone have any tips on how I can get rid of the rust? It's really narrow and quite deep so I can't quite reach it properly.
Thanks
Do you have any recommendations for a course on underwater videography? Preferably online. Thank you!
It's very insensitive when I try to stop down the f number.
