There have been temporary solutions provided by some people but for me, none of them worked.

I would like to know if there have been new solutions that I haven't read of so that I can finally fix this issue on my side. I don't understand why it's only happening on this browser.

Hello, I am currently looking for the Edge configuration which resets the Citrix workspace settings at each update forcing the use of HTML5 while the setting before update clearly indicates the call to the apps.

Hi everyone,

Apparently I need to use Internet Explorer to access a website for work as Edge doesn't work. I looked online which said that I can toggle Internet Explorer compatibility in the default browser tab. However, I can't see the option on my version.

Any help is appreciated!

Has anyone found a way to alter the default "home page" that comes up when browsing InPrivate mode? The search settings for default search engine and default address bar search engine don't apply to InPrivate windows. TIA

I cant even remember them all, but there are so many things ive disabled related to ads and privacy

if edge came the way I currently have it by default, I think most peoples impression of it would be much better.

it has soooo many things you need to disable if you dont want to give it data or let it give you random sponsored ads.

it really reflects microsoft's strategy in a microcosm perfectly

I have Edge configured to not allow extensions to run in the background, but Edge still ends up being 92% of my laptop battery usage, with a significant portion of that in the background. Is there any way to prevent the background portion of that usage?

There is a recent and recurring issue with Microsoft Edge on Windows 11, specifically involving the handling of window positions and sizes during display-related events. This issue has been observed by multiple users across different systems, and notably, it only occurs with Edge.exe (all versions including Official/Beta/Dev/Canary). No other applications exhibit this erroneous behavior under similar conditions.

Description of the Issue

1. Context of Observed Occurrence, issue has been observed in the following circumstances:
   • By some users, when changing the display refresh rate.
   • By some users, when activating a full-screen application (like a game for example).
   • By some users, when disconnecting/reconnecting the display cable.
   • By some users, when the computer awakens from Sleep mode.
   • By some users, when closing/opening the lid of their laptop.
2. Observed Behavior:
   • Microsoft Edge windows initially appear in their correct positions and sizes.
   • Within half a second or sooner, the windows are resized and repositioned to fit within a rectangle smaller than the display’s full native resolution (e.g., resized to fit a 3440x1140 pixel rectangle instead of the native resolution of 5120x2160).
3. Potential Cause:
   • The issue appears to be triggered during any perceived "display resolution change event," where Windows 11 does not retain the positions and sizes of Edge.exe windows properly.
   • This behavior is specific to Edge.exe (and variants); no other applications are affected in the same scenario.
4. What It’s Not:
   • It is unlikely related to 3rd party GPU drivers, as users report similar behavior even when using integrated Intel display chips.

System Context and Common Factors

The issue may relate to a recent update to Microsoft Edge, Windows 11, or both. Below are some details from my system for reference:

• Edge Version: 131.0.2903.70 (updated on 11/27).
• Windows 11 Version: 24H2 (updated on 11/8).
• Recent Updates Installed:
  • 2024-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5046617) – installed on 11/13.
  • 2024-11 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5046740) – installed on 11/22.

This issue has been confirmed by multiple users on both laptops and desktops, indicating a broader problem rather than an isolated hardware or configuration issue.

Workarounds (not a solution)

Use a utility like Microsoft PowerToys or Brian Apps Sizer to manually reposition Edge's windows.

Hi. Anyone seen this on IoS, when translating a page if there are drop downs (combo boxes) the text in those is not sites slated, in fact the options are basically removed and it’s totally empty.

Having major issues with this when trying to fill out web forms ;(

Does Edge have extension history stored anywhere? In terms of extensions that were installed and/or removed? we lost some very specific extensions due to us not realizing we were signed into another device with the same Microsoft account and thought we were only removing extensions from that other device.

I've installed a bunch of tab limiters on Edge, but for some reason they stop working when I open a new blank tab or window. They give me a warning, but the page stays open. I try to limit my tabs to 5, but now I can just go on and on opening new windows and tabs. Again, it's not even one extension with this issue, it's all of them, and across multiple PCs. Does anyone know he fix or an extension that actually works? because I feel like I tried everything from Chrome and Edge's extension pages.

Edge is a wonderful browser and I have been using it for almost a decade, but I eventually transferred to Firefox, and make Edge a backup choice in case of something goes wrong with Firefox.

I'm a heavy dark mode user, my laptop is always in dark mode in my daily usage. Every time when I open Edge, it welcomes me with a blinding white flash, which is really an eyesore to me and totally unacceptable. As I remember, Firefox once also had this issue, but they fixed it, and that's why I decided to use Firefox as my primary browser.

If this problem is fixed on Edge someday, perhaps I will come back to Edge.

Is there a way to delete Copilot search history? From what I have found, there is no way. Just ask Copilot and it will tell you........Sorry, no can do.

I understand the use of Copilot is voluntary, but it sure seems like we should be able to delete all history, just like we can with browsers.

Please share info and opinion on this. But for me, until I find a way to delete search history I will never use Copilot.

I often run window with split screen open and make everything look side by side up to 12 tab , the lag is very minimal, I like Edge because it has stable resource management and is more stable than Chrome. I install all browsers and change them when I get bored, but Edge is still no. 1. I believe, dev can handle the problem and it can be resolved anytime, for this reason I enable flags: Enable experimentation 'full' mode

So, i saw that buttons on my titlebar differ from some of other people's. Why is that? Tbh, i love the other ones and i want to get them. Is there a way to do tht?

I have several webs in the sidebar. I have, for instance, duckduckgo search and duckduckgo ai, two different pages in start.me... the problem is that the two duckduckgo webs have the same icon, and the who differente start.me pages have also the same icon

Is it possible to personalize the icons in the sidebar?

I have been a long time user of edge on windows. Part of the reason why I switched was the read aloud feature for webpages. That feature is pretty much unmatched by any browser.

Recently I started using linux and notice this feature is missing from edge on linux. Anyone know of any good free extensions or replacements for this?

Right now as a workaround I have windows in a VM on linux and use the windows version of edge for this feature and do all my other work on linux.

I know, before anyone says anything about it I use edge on linux because im a big microsoft guy, Im heavy office/onedrive user and like everything to sync across all my devices.

I was pleased to get my new HP PC at the weekend and to try out Windows 11. So far very positive except for the over intrusive Edge.

I am, for better or worse, a Google and Chrome fan and wish to use exclusively Chrome on the new computer. If I want, for some reason, a Firefox or a Tor or even an Edge then I can start one manually for one session. But Chrome should be my default browser.

And I thought I had made it so. But when I create shortcuts with a http: or https: address, the short cut starts Edge. When I ask Word to download a language pack, it starts Edge for the download. Chrome, under its three dots invites me to set Chrome as my default browser. But in spite of repeatedly doing this, nothing changes.

HELP! As Henry II of England would have said were he still alive, Will no one rid me of this turbulent browser? Any help or suggestions would be welcome. Or should I just uninstall it from the control panel?

I use Google keep a lot but their extension don't work anymore . So can anyone create a bookmarklet/script for me so when a user highlight a text on a webpage and click the button on bookmarklet or script . Since yesterday I’ve been struggling with the devtools. Most of the times the network tab just don’t work, or stops recording the request, really annoying. Also, sometimes the dev console just refuse to close, or the shortcuts won’t work when the dev tools is open.

This happens with any site, I am using latest version.

Anyone else facing these issues?

i've been using ms edge on ubuntu since the begining, but today after the package update a lot of settings were missing.

and i dont mean the settings were reset. they're not on the settings page anymore.

one example is the DoH (DNS over HTTPS) which i used a lot for privacy reasons.

it simply doesnt exist anymore, and there is nothing related to dns in the flags page as well.
