Can someone explain the full backstory / the lore / the good & the bad with this building and the proposed developments?
Enjoy the traffic going back home :)

I’m cooking a bunch of pork butts for a party next weekend and have received a request to add a few briskets to the options since they are on sale. Publix also has them on sale but I was told they were out until Tuesday.
Reaching anyone in the meat department by phone is not having much of a success rate. This is first time in probably a year that brisket has been under $3 a pound so it could be sold out.
i havent seen or heard anything abt them in a while
There used to be a vendor at the St. James Art Fair (at 3rd and Magnolia) that sold caramel apples and fudge. As best I can remember the last time they were there was in 2022. I thought they were local as in in Kentucky but not Louisville.
Does anyone have any recollection of the name of the company?
Anybody have 2 tickets to the Mannequin Pussy concert at Zanzabar later this month? Missed my chance to buy them before they sold out.
Hi Louisville, my partner’s aunt lives in Louisville and looking for someone reliable and experienced (and hopefully affordable) who can remove the wallpaper from her master bathroom. It’s pretty dated and peeling in several areas, but it’s stood the test of time; (30+ years) so in my experience it will be a PITA (as all wallpaper removals go)
She’s looking to get this done around the first of the year.
Looking for recommendations.
I came of age getting ferried around between a number of places I remember in bits and pieces - a quonset hut ice cream shop near downtown, of course Graeters if that counts on Bardstown, but far and away the queen of them all was across the river, Polly's Freeze.
Now, it's my turn to return the favor, and drive some elder relatives on day trips in and around the city. Should that seem a bit too far for someone who doesn't leave their house very often, what are my other options? This would be centered around St. Matthews.
PS Flabby's and Mazzoni's have closed? wherefore art thou, rolled oysters?
PPS Kunz's is also closed? I need to get over here more often...
Hello! I'm working on building some cabinets and door jams. I'm primarily looking for 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 96" boards. Most wood I find at the big box stores are 3/4". I'd also like to find a good place to get plywood that's decently priced. I found some decent quality in Menards in Jeffersonville, but if figured I'd shop around before I pulled the trigger.
Any suggestions?
The Courier Journal investigation wasn't a hit piece and the alumni don't care about the politics. I'd encourage reading the actual articles - there are very legitimate concerns about HLS that aren't a left/right issue, and a good topic of conversation is how we avoid the abuses and pitfalls that can plague these spaces. This article has been in the works for years, and what the Courier Journal reported about abuse was the tip of the iceberg.

Part 2: https://archive.ph/3tBxn
Part 3: https://archive.ph/n31w5
Part 4: https://archive.ph/d1Zio
Part 5: https://archive.ph/CTiuh
Article 3 discusses the reality that Memoria Press and HLS were tightly aligned with two leaders who are leaders in a push to make America white and argue Biblical justification for racial segregation, among many other things. You can read just a snapshot of their view in that article and a bit more here: https://michaelfbird.substack.com/p/preview-of-stephen-wolfes-the-case-8f9 There are some very disturbing ties in the classical education movement, even going so far as to propose kinism (that "races" cannot intermarry according to God's design).
For those feeling that to believe the survivors = being against Christian schools, against private schools, against Christianity, etc -- learning to really see what's in our own community is critical. We bear a much greater responsibility when it's in our own community that we give support and a platform to.
At the same time, using alums' stories for the other side of the amendment argument still distracts from what should be the focus, and may turn away people still within the system who care about children but may not be on the same page politically.
More than one thing can be true at the same time. There can be problems in the public school system, and at a private school. At that private school, there can be wonderful teachers there, and harmful ones who have caused lasting damage. There can be good experiences, and harmful ones at the same school.
What is actually in the spirit of Christ is considering children to be the greatest in the kingdom of God. That is far more significant than debating a school choice amendment. How children have been treated should be the greatest concern of all. Making this into a political issue on either side of the school voucher amendment is a distraction. Let's center child safety, regardless of where we land politically. This is about the survivors, what they have suffered, and how to ensure this does not keep happening there. Let’s not use them.
Has anyone renting houses or apartments for them ever had issues? My landlord is apparently been approached by them to buy the house I rent and was curious if I should get out as soon as they do thanks for any advice
Hi all!! New to Louisville (just moved here in August) and I'm slowly but surely trying to find my people. I live in walking distance to Magbar, and I'd love to find some folks to do trivia with (and maybe also make some friends out of it). I'm 26F, big into science/nature/music, and overall just wanting to branch out. I'm also close to Atrium and Noblefunk if either of those suit your fancy more!
PS - to those that gave the suggestion of Mellwood Tavern for Sunday Service jams earlier in the year before I'd located to KY, it has been worth its weight in gold!!
It's happened again. Heard from bartenders in the area. Called one, got an answer just to hear screaming. Sprayed bullets from the street. Steer clear and get friends to come home safe please
Multiple shots fired from the same weapon, very near the Hub. Police came and were driving around for a while, then all took off down Payne towards Lexington Road with lights and sirens. Is eveyone OK, and is there any info out?
Hey, just moved from New York in the last few months and looking for a Yankees bar for the playoff game tomorrow. Anyone know a place?
According to the ad I just saw, Trump supports Amendment 2.
Well, that just reinforced a foregone conclusion...
I’m looking for preferably an in person tutor for learning Spanish here in Louisville and was wondering if anybody had any experience or recommendations
Howdy folks,
Looking for recommendations on graphic designers/full scope branding artists for a new small business me and my partner are starting. I would love to keep it local to Louisville or even just Kentucky. It’s a very creative, exciting project and I want someone who can really match our energy. We’re Gen Z so if your go-to font is a Sans Serif, maybe we aren’t a perfect match 😂
I know this is a bit late. Anybody's down to hit tomorrow morning here in Lou?
I use the toll bridge. A lot.
Lately I have noticed a TON of license plate covers, that cloud the numbers so the toll cameras can't capture them. In most states this is very illegal lol. Is that not the case in KY/IN? Do cops just straight not give AF?
Where can i find the best in the city?
